Best fan content from Panthers' 2025 Fan Fest

USA Today7 days ago
The Carolina Panthers faithful had their night.
Due to ongoing construction at the team's practice site, fans have not been permitted to attend this summer's training camp. But they got their moment on Friday, at Fan Fest.
Head coach Dave Canales thanked and credited the 40,000 or so in attendance for bringing some much-appreciated juice to practice.
"That was a lot of fun right there, just great energy," Canales told reporters, via Panthers.com. "So much love for the fans that came out. Lots of great energy, the guys needed it; we're deep in the camp, so, all the help we can get to just kind of create those types of practices.
"The guys don't understand the impact they can have on people just by spending a little bit of time, by going to see someone, taking a picture with somebody. You know, connecting with our fan base because they mean a lot to this town so I love moments like that we're really happy to do that."
So, let's highlight their moments.
Here are some of the best fan photos and videos from a memorable evening . . .

Best and worst PFF grades from Panthers' preseason loss to Browns

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales described much of Friday night's defeat to the Cleveland Browns as sloppy. But a handful of his players, at least according to Pro Football Focus, came out looking awfully clean. Here are the best and worst PFF grades for the Panthers from their 30-10 loss in this week's preseason opener . . . Best of the offense 1. LT Ikem Ekwonu: 85.8 2. QB Bryce Young: 85.1 3. WR T.J. Luther: 84.6 4. RG Jarrett Kingston: 79.0 5. WR Jalen Coker: 74.5 Ekwonu allowed zero pressures over eight opportunities. The former sixth overall pick, as usual, did well in the ground game, too—earning a team-best 90.8 grade in run blocking. Young completed four of his six passing attempts for 58 yards and a touchdown. His score, a 5-yarder, found the hands of Coker—who finished with two receptions for 17 yards. Worst of the offense 32. QB Jack Plummer: 49.9 33. WR Xavier Legette: 41.3 34. RT Michael Tarquin: 38.9 35. TE Tyler Mabry: 36.9 36. RT Yosh Nijman: 29.3 Plummer connected on six of his 10 throws for 79 yards. Legette, who was ejected from the game on the second drive, only connected on a few punches of Browns safety Rayshawn Jenkins. Tarquin, for what it's worth, received a 0.0 pass-blocking grade—as he allowed a sack over five chances. Nijman allowed two pressures, a hit and a hurry. Best of the defense 1. OLB Nic Scourton: 91.8 2. DL Bobby Brown III: 91.4 3. DL Sam Roberts: 89.5 4. S Trevian Thomas: 77.3 5. CB Corey Thornton: 76.9 Scourton tallied two pressures (one sack) over eight pass-rushing attempts. The 2025 second-round pick also accounted for two stops in the run game. Brown III, one of Carolina's big free-agent additions from this past spring, notched a team-high five pressures. Worst of the defense 34. OLB D.J. Wonnum: 34.9 35. DL Tershawn Wharton: 32.8 36. ILB Trevin Wallace: 32.3 37. ILB Jon Rhattigan: 29.8 38. ILB Bam Martin-Scott: 29.6 Wharton, another offseason signing, didn't fare as well as Brown. The sixth-year lineman received a team-low 22.9 tackling grade. Martin-Scott also had trouble finishing. The undrafted rookie was charged with two missed tackles. Shedeur Sanders confronts reporter after NFL preseason debut vs. Panthers

Shedeur Sanders had time on Friday night – some of it in the pocket, but maybe more of it after the game. In the wake of Sanders' positive debut vs. the Carolina Panthers, the rookie quarterback caught up with Cleveland-based reporter and radio personality Tony Grossi. Sanders appeared to take issue with Grossi's negative slant towards him. In the tunnels of Bank of America Stadium, Sanders addressed Grossi directly, and called out his coverage. And he did it with a smile on: "Tony, I be hoping you have something positive to say about me," Sanders tells Grossi in the video (via Well Off Media). "You only say negative stuff about me. And I'm like, 'I ain't do nothing to you.'" "Come on, what I do? What'd I do to you, Tony?" Sanders kept a smile on throughout the short-lived conversation and he and the reporter shared a little bit of a laugh before the passer headed into the locker room. It's not the first time that Sanders has confronted a perceived detractor in a public setting. In 2024, the then-Colorado Buffaloes quarterback caught up with Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi and refused to shake his hand following a 43-35 Colorado victory. Sanders finished 14-of-23 passing with 138 yards and two touchdowns in the Browns win. He played almost three entire quarters and showcased skill that led some draft analysts to believe he should have been a Day 1 selection. With more performances like he had on Friday night, Sanders may find himself speaking with plenty more critics in the coming weeks, months or years. Browns HC Kevin Stefanski gives assessment of Shedeur Sanders' debut

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski offered a measured yet positive assessment of rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders' performance in his preseason debut against the Carolina Panthers. When asked by ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi about the rookie's outing, Stefanski praised Sanders' command of the offense and the team's execution. He continued, emphasizing the room for growth: "I'm pleased with Shedeur, pleased with the offense... Again, not perfect, plenty that we can work on. But I thought the guys did a really nice job. Shedeur and operating. The guys' making plays, so again, a ton to teach on." Sanders, who finished the game with a stat line of 14-of-23 for 138 yards and two touchdowns, with 19 rushing yards, had given himself a self-critical "C+" grade immediately after the game. Stefanski's comments echo the rookie's own sentiment of not being perfect but also highlight a solid foundation to build upon. The coach went on to say, "He'll get a ton of reps next week as well," as sourced by Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland. Despite Sanders' impressive debut, this is just the beginning of his development in Cleveland, and with the team traveling to play the reigning Super Bowl champions next Saturday, his hardest trials are surely ahead.
