No proposal to reallocate idle coal blocks to SCCL: Kishan Reddy
Responding to Warangal MP Kadiyam Kavya's query on Wednesday regarding coal block allocations to SCCL, Mr. Reddy stated that his ministry had received a request from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on July 4 last year for allocating specific blocks, including Koyagudem Block III and Sathupalli Block III, to SCCL under sections 11A/17A(2) of the Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation (MMDR) Act, 1957.
However, Mr. Reddy clarified that coal blocks are now allocated through a transparent and fair auction process. The MP also inquired about the non-operational status of previously auctioned blocks, such as Koyagudem and Sathupalli, which remain idle due to the failure of private allottees, and pressed for their reallocation to SCCL. The Minister made it clear that no such proposal is currently under consideration.
The government noted SCCL's commitment, conveyed by the Chief Minister, to offer a 0.5% higher revenue share than previous bidders for these blocks. Emphasising the need for sufficient coal reserves to sustain SCCL's production capacity and meet Telangana's future power demands, Ms. Kavya urged the Centre to prioritise the State-owned company.

Builder faces penalty for four-year delay in unit handover in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (HRera) has ordered a realty firm to pay interest at 11.1% per annum to a complainant for a delay of over four years in handing over a commercial unit in its Sector 70 project, '70 Grandwalk'. The complaint, filed under Section 31 of the RERA Act, was disposed of on July 24 by HRera (Gurgaon). The interest must be paid within 90 days from the date of the order. Additionally, Shine Buildcon Pvt Ltd was instructed to hand over possession within 30 days of dues being cleared by the complainant and to execute the conveyance deed as per Section 17 of the Act. It ruled that Shine Buildcon could not demand any amount not stipulated in the original buyer's agreement. Charges for electricity, maintenance and other utilities were also to be levied strictly as per the agreement and on a proportionate basis. The complainant booked Unit A-001, a 907 sqft commercial shop, on the ground floor of the project in Oct 2014. A buyer's agreement was executed on May 11, 2015, under which the developer was obligated to hand over possession within 42 months, along with an additional six-month grace period. This brought the due date for possession to May 11, 2019. However, the occupation certificate was issued only on Oct 10, 2023 and the offer of possession was made on Nov 24, 2023 — marking a delay of more than four years. Shine Buildcon argued the delay was due to force majeure conditions such as demonetisation, GST implementation, environmental bans and the Covid-19 pandemic. HRera dismissed these claims, observing the cited disruptions were temporary and could not justify the prolonged delay. Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring urges Centre to intervene in Punjab's land pooling policy
1 2 3 Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said Sunday that the Punjab Land Pooling policy was in clear violation of the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, enacted by the Congress-led UPA govt in 2013 when Dr Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister. In a written statement, Warring said it was the reason he had "urged the Central government to intervene and stop the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab from implementing the land pooling policy, which is being forced upon the unwilling farmers of the state." He stated, "While the BJP tried unsuccessfully to dilute the provisions of the law, the AAP is completely subverting it in Punjab." Warring added, "After the BJP came to power at the centre in 2014, it tried to dilute the Act and its various provisions. It was for this reason that then Union minister Arun Jaitely visited then Congress president Sonia Gandhi. It was in this context that leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that late Arun Jaitely tried to threaten him as he was strongly against the dilution of the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act. " Warring added, "Thanks to the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi in particular, the BJP govt dropped the idea of diluting the Land Acquisition Act, which ensures that farmers' rights are protected and they are adequately compensated and rehabilitated if their land is acquired after their due consent." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ask A Pro: "I'm 70 with $1.4M in IRAs. He added, "The AAP government is taking farmers' land without any compensation. This will not be allowed to happen at any cost."
