Bintulu's Pesta Tumbina 2025 targets 35,000 visitors with vibrant line-up
BINTULU (Aug 9): The third edition of Pesta Tumbina 2025 is expected to attract between 30,000 and 35,000 visitors this year, with a packed line-up of events and competitions running from Thursday night until this Sunday at Taman Tumbina.
Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) deputy chairman Dato Haidar Khan Asghar Khan said the public is invited to join in the remaining nights of the celebration, organised by BDA in conjunction with Taman Tumbina's 34th anniversary.
Since its debut in 2023, Pesta Tumbina has recorded encouraging growth in participation. Last year's edition drew over 23,000 visitors, matching the attendance of this year's Rainforest World Music Festival in Kuching.
'This year, we are confident of an even greater turnout, with organisers targeting between 30,000 and 35,000 visitors,' Haidar said when officiating the festival on Thursday.
The festival features a wide range of activities to appeal to all ages, including keychain painting, colouring contests, a bird-singing competition, children's fashion show, cosplay, batik workshops, culinary arts showcases, and the Halal Greenovate for Community programme.
'These activities are designed to enliven the celebration, encourage community participation, and align with the government's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals,' he said, while expressing appreciation to all parties involved.
He also expressed gratitude to the Bintulu Port Authority (BPA), the festival's main strategic partner for the second consecutive year, and wished them continued success. He further acknowledged Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd (BPHB) as a strategic partner for last week's Bintulu Marathon 2025.
'I call on other corporations in Bintulu to step forward and work with BDA to organise events and programmes that benefit the local community,' he added.
Haidar stressed that BDA's role goes beyond development planning, with a strong commitment to making Bintulu a liveable and sustainable city that residents can be proud of. He also reaffirmed BDA's efforts to further beautify the town.

The four-day event at the scenic Taman Tumbina, which concluded last Sunday, has proven once again that this 'nature-meets-culture' celebration is a must-visit spot in Bintulu. 'This achievement cements Pesta Tumbina's status as an iconic festival for Bintulu,' said Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) deputy chairman Dato Haidar Asghar Khan at the closing ceremony, also thanking all the visitors, participants, exhibitors and volunteers who had made this year's programme 'truly spectacular'. 'Plans are already in motion to expand activities including the much-loved Tumbina Night Walk with dazzling creative lighting themes such as Insectopia Jungle, Animal and Forest,' he said in Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report. The Bintulu Port Authority (BPA), in an effort to make night activities safer and more enjoyable, is piloting a project to install lighting along the jungle-walk route.
