Find out which Love Boat stars will reunite on the high seas... almost 50 years after the show debuted

Daily Mail28-07-2025
The cast of The Love Boat will be reuniting on a week-long celebration cruise with many of the stars joining in the occasion for the first time.
The new cruise is set to set sail in November and will embark on a seven-day journey through the Caribbean, departing from Galveston, Texas and stopping in Honduras and Mexico.
This time, Lauren Tewes and Charo will be a part of the romance-themed cruise inspired by the hit 1970s sitcom and reuniting with their former co-stars, according to People.
Fred Grandy, Bernie Kopell, Ted Lange and Jill Whelan will also be there for Princess Cruises' iconic Love Boat Celebration at Sea.
The romance-themed cruise featuring the original cast of the show first set sail in 2022 and returned for the second time last summer.
This comes shortly after Whelan, who famously portrayed Vicki Stubing on The Love Boat, opened up about her real-life love story earlier this year.
Tewes, 71, previously played cruise director Julie McCoy for seven seasons on the sitcom, eventually departing from the show due to her public struggle with addiction and leading to her character being written off.
Now sober, she will be joining her castmates for this year's reunion.
During last year's cruise, her former co-star Grandy, 76, told the outlet that the actress, now sober, 'has recovered magnificently' and 'even though she is not here, she is as much a part of the family as anybody else up on this stage.'
During the Behind the Scenes Stories panel, Whelan also chimed in and said Tewes is 'a sister to all of us.'
'She's just a very genuine, sweet human being, and by the way, a spectacular actress,' she said.
'I mean, I even look back at The Love Boat episodes and I just marvel at her and her ability to move so effortlessly between doing a dramatic scene and comedy. But she is one of our favorite people and we adore her.'
Whelan also recently revealed that she had continued to keep in touch with Tewes over the years and had been trying to convince her to join them for the reunion cruise this year.
'She was open to it,' Whelan told the outlet. 'I told her everybody loves her so much and everybody wants to tell her how much they love her. I think it would be great for her.'

Charo, who guest starred and appeared 10 times on The Love Boat, will also be joining in on the themed cruise aboard the Regal Princess.
She is best known for her reoccurring role as lounge singer April Lopez on the hit sitcom between 1977 and 1984.
The Spanish actress, who showed off her musical talent and dance moves on the show, will also be performing during the live performances on the cruise.
Charo and Tewes will join the reunion cruise for the first time since its launch three years ago.
They will also be participating in the iconic sailaway party, meet-and-greet opportunities for the show's fans, Q&As with the cast and a symbolic renewal of vows ceremony.
The show's iconic cast had previously reunited for a Princess Cruises event in 2014, when the cruise line launched its new ship, the Regal Princess.
All six main cast members of the ensemble, Kopell, Grandy, Lange, Whelan, Tewes, and MacLeod (Captain Stubing) — who died in 2021 — gathered in Fort Lauderdale dressed in their old work uniforms.

The carnival is a celebration of community, unity, Caribbean culture and history but this year comes with big changes. ‌ From giant digital screens and new support crews to subtle route tweaks, Notting Hill Carnival organisers have taken to Instagram to show they introduced fresh measures to keep the two-day party safe, smooth, and unforgettable. Here's everything you need to know before you hit the road. It comes as The Mirror's Darren Lewis advised people not to let let killjoys stop Notting Hill Carnival after cops called it a 'war zone'. ‌ Route changes and stewards Many carnival goers are used to sticking to the same route or even following a float, but this year the organisers are introducing new routes and might even send you on a detour - but don't stress, it's all in good faith. Stewards will be guiding the crowds along alternative paths to ensure everything moves safely and comfortably, and while many don't like change - you may discover a hidden gem along the way. ‌ Digital screens with updates For the first time in Notting Hill history, stationary digital screens will be dotted along the route sharing safety tips, key updates and announcements ensuring everyone is in the loop and well informed while they celebrate. Moment of reflection At 3pm on both main days, Carnival will pause for a 72-second silence in memory of the 72 lives lost in the Grenfell Tower fire. The moment will also honour Takayo Nembhard and Cher Maximen, who were tragically killed at Carnival, as well as Kelso Cochrane, whose racially motivated murder in 1959 was the drive for the event and the pioneers who built its foundation. ‌ From the children parade, to the steel bands competition each carnival day is set will bring something different continuing the long standing Caribbean celebration. But beyond the new announcements, we've put together the official carnival schedule to ensure you don't a single part. Adidas designer apologizes for ‘appropriating' Mexican shoe design

Mexican-American clothing designer Willy Chavarria has apologized after Mexican authorities accused him of "cultural appropriation" over an Adidas sandal. The ' Oaxaca Slip On' design has drawn criticism for its striking resemblance to traditional Indigenous footwear. The black sandal, launched by Adidas, features braided leather straps attached to a chunky sports shoe sole. Mexican artisans and authorities contend that the intricate braids are strikingly similar to huaraches, the traditional footwear crafted by the Zapotec Indigenous people in Oaxaca, primarily in the town of Villa Hidalgo Yalalag. They have accused both the brand and Chavarria of "cultural appropriation" and of replicating the design without Indigenous community consent. Authorities highlighted a history of major brands copying Mexican cultural designs and stated their intention to strengthen laws to safeguard the creations. In a statement addressed to the 'people of Oaxaca,' Chavarria said that the design was intended to 'to honor the powerful cultural and artistic spirit of Oaxaca and its creative communities – a place whose beauty and resistance have inspired me. 'I am deeply sorry that the shoe was appropriated in this design and not developed in direct and meaningful partnership with the Oaxacan community,' he wrote. 'This falls short of the respect and collaborative approach that Oaxaca, the Zapotec community of Villa Hidalgo Yalalag, and its people deserve.' Chavarria has risen to fame for his designs exploring Chicano, or Mexican-American, culture, often mixing Mexican themes with American products. His designs include sweaters reading 'Chicano' in red, scripted font, and styles with the Mexican flag and cowboy hats reminiscent of northern Mexican culture. In recent months, Chavarria was put in the spotlight for a show at Paris Fashion Week that was intended as criticism of the Trump administration's deportation policy. Chavarria's comments came days after Adidas made a public apology for the design. In a statement, the brand said it was reaffirming 'our commitment to collaborate with Yalalag in a respectful dialogue that honors their cultural legacy.' Last week, in a letter to Oaxacan state officials, the company requested to sit down with local officials and to discuss how it can 'repair the damage' to Indigenous populations. 'Adidas recognises and values the cultural richness of Mexico 's Indigenous communities and the meaning of their artisanal heritage,' it said in a statement.

Diana Ross, 81, sparks health fears as she's forced to pull out of cruise ship performance

has sparked concerns for her health as she is forced to pull out of her upcoming performance for Royal Caribbean's Star of the Sea's showcase cruise. The 81-year-old Baby Love songstress - who recently opened up the Henley Festival last month - was slated to kick off the three-day journey on August 20 after being named 'godmother' of the massive ship. However, the star's representative said in a statement to People on Tuesday, 'Due to unforeseen circumstances, Diana Ross will be unable to appear'. An exact reason for the sudden absence was not given, but Diana is still set to begin her Beautiful Love tour in the U.S. on August 16. A spokesperson for the cruise line issued a statement as well and expressed, 'We are disappointed that Diana Ross is unable to join us to be godmother of Star of the Seas.' They continued that there are plans to announce a 'new godmother' of the ship 'soon'. A few months earlier in June, Royal Caribbean announced that the singer had been named godmother of the Icon Class ship. She had been set to to take to the stage to celebrate the new cruise that will embark from Port Canaveral in Orlando, Florida and head to Perfect Day at CocoBay in the Bahamas. To commemorate the debut of the latest Royal Caribbean ship, Diana would have also taken part in a special naming ceremony with guests. 'I am truly honored to join the Royal Caribbean family,' the Wiz actress expressed in a press release at the time, per PR Newswire. 'Having spent years of creating beautiful music and memories and bringing people together from all over the world, this feels like a perfect continuation of my journey as godmother of Star of the Seas'. The president and CEO of the cruise line, Michael Bayley, had also stated that the company was 'thrilled' to have the iconic singer ring in the debut of the Star of the Seas ship. 'We couldn't imagine a more fitting godmother for Star than Diana Ross, who is a true icon known for creating music that transcends generations while celebrating life and bringing people together...' While Diana will no longer take part in the showcase cruise, she is still set to begin her U.S. tour later this month on August 16 in Saratoga, California. The star - who is also known for being a member of The Supremes - will make stops in other cities such as Atlantic City, St. Louis, Newark and Lincoln. The Beautiful Love tour will officially conclude later this year in Palm Springs on December 13. Over the past weekend on Sunday, she shared the U.S. dates to her fans on Instagram and penned, 'It's good to be back home. 'The Beautiful Love Tour is coming to cities across the U.S. for unforgettable nights filled with music, memories, and joy'. The I'm Coming Out hitmaker added, 'The tour starts a week from today, on August 16th, at the @mountainwinery in Saratoga, CA. Come join the love celebration.' During a recent interview with People in June, Diana opened up about her family life and how she has been prioritizing her health. When asked what she has been 'up to these days,' the performer replied, 'Health and well-being'. Diana continued, 'And my family is equally everything to me. I like staying busy. Because I love what I do, it keeps me grounded. I'm swimming a lot lately to stay flexible. 'I must get my sleep which is important to me. I do my best to eat well, but I do like Häagen-Dazs ice cream'. In regards to aging and feeling good in her 80s, the star expressed, 'The love of what I do keeps me grounded, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. When you can't find the sunshine be the sunshine...' Diana then added, 'I have been very blessed in my life. I love what I do. I love my family. I love my life. I'm a happy person'. The singer also revealed that she had asked her family to join her on the Royal Caribbean cruise before she pulled out of her performance. She is notably the mother of five children - including Evan Ross who is married to Ashlee Simpson - and the grandmother of eight. Diana gained recognition as a former member of The Supremes - one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. Over the years, especially throughout the 60s, they dropped a number of hit tracks such as You Can't Hurry Love and Where Did Our Love Go. In 1970, she left the group to launch her own successful solo career in the music industry and would go on to release hits including Endless Love, Ain't No Mountain High Enough and Chain Reaction. Diana has garnered 13 Grammy nominations and received the Lifetime Achievement Award twice - once for herself in 2012 and then later in 2023 as a member of The Supremes.
