One day, she told me she wanted to buy a bag. I thought — how expensive could it be? Maybe Rs 15,000–Rs 20,000. These days, everything is expensive,' Nawaz recounted.
But what followed was a classic generational clash of expectations.
The actor, who comes from modest beginnings in a small Uttar Pradesh village, accompanied his daughter to a mall in Dubai. Inside a luxury store, she picked up a bag of her choice. 'I was okay till then. But when I asked for the price — it was Rs 2.5 lakh. Mera itna jee jala…,' Nawaz said with a wry smile.
For Nawazuddin, who grew up in a time and environment where bags ranging from Rs 500- Rs 600 to Rs 2000-Rs 300 the idea of spending a quarter of a million rupees on a handbag felt like an unimaginable extravagance. Yet, like many doting fathers, he gave in. 'It's a waste of money, actually. But I bought it for her,' he admitted.

The trend so far, and the projected trajectory ahead seals the HIT tag for this social comedy, making it a rare W for the genre in post Covid world. Box Office: Maa scores good results in opening weekend, Kajol starrer collects Rs 17.25 crore in 3 day
Maa, starring Kajol in the lead role, is holding up well at the box office. The mytho-horror drama, directed by Vishal Furia, has met with mixed bag reactions, but managed to impress with its folklore and horror factor. Maa clocks Rs 6.50 crore on Day 3, approaches Rs 20 crore mark Bankrolled by Devgn Films and Panorama Studios, Maa debuted with Rs 4.75 crore on its debut day. The movie further witnessed a good jump of 26% and collected Rs 6 crore on Day 2. As per estimates, the mytho-horror drama saw another jump of 10% today and added Rs 6.50 crore to the tally.
