See below for my top telly picks.
Pick of the day...
The Plot To Kill Holly Willoughby, Channel 5, 9pm
Fans of This Morning were sent into a frenzy one Thursday when long-time host Holly Willoughby didn't turn up for work. What we didn't know is that 12 hours earlier, police had bashed down the door of a suspect who had plotted to kidnap, sexually assault and murder her - spinning Holly's life on its head in that moment. This documentary examines the details of this crime, which tells of the horrific plan by 37-year-old Essex security guard Gavin Plumb.
In July last year, Plumb was convicted soliciting the kidnap, rape and murder of Holly, having spent nearly a decade developing a twisted fixation on her. He amassed tens of thousands of images, tracked her movements, researched her home and security arrangements and had recruited other like-minded men to help turn his sick sexual fantasies into reality. Their plan was to invade the star's London home - subdue her husband with chloroform and use the couple's young children as leverage.
They intended to kidnap Holly, drive her to a remote location where she would be viciously sexually assaulted and ultimately, murdered. When Holly learned of the plan, just hours before she was due to go on air, her life was changed forever. With little choice but to put her glittering career on hold, she withdrew from public life whilst the police built their case against Plumb. Would his plan ever come to pass or was it nothing more than a sick fantasy? Holly refused to participate in this documentary, but there is commentary from journalists and experts in criminal psychology, as it rakes over the details of a crime that shocked the nation.

The Best of the Rest...
Taskmaster, Channel 4, 9pm
The most absurd and brilliant game show returns, with Greg Davies as fickle overlord and Little Alex Horne as his subservient sidekick. Competing this time are comedian and writer Fatiha El-Ghorri, American comedian, actor and podcaster Jason Mantzoukas, actor and writer Mathew Baynton, podcaster and broadcaster Rosie Ramsey and comedian, actor and podcaster Stevie Martin.
Each are hoping to win valuable points, eternal glory, and favourable treatment from the Taskmaster, but they will soon learn that nothing makes sense, everything is utterly pointless and favour is hard to win. Four of them will eventually exit the show broken and beaten, while one will exit broken, beaten and with a rubbish prize. In the first prize task, a golf club and a map remind everyone of school - in a good way. They must demonstrate their skills in tasks involving vinegar, raisins and peas. Find out also what makes everyone describe Alex as 'cool'. It's never been said before…
The Four Seasons, Netflix
With a starry Hollywood cast, this is a fresh take on an age-old saga - a break up. Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Marco Calvani star as three married couples who have been friends for 30 years. Every season, they all go away together for the weekend, but this glorious tradition is about to be smashed to pieces when one of the couples divorces.
Tina, who wrote the show alongside 30 Rock writer producers Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield, said: 'I hope audiences feel like they are inside a big sweater with us, and also having a dinner party with us, and I hope that any of the joy and warmth that we all feel for each other all transfers to them.' The show, which has been compared to The White Lotus (minus the deaths), has a lot to unpack as these couples navigate their weekend getaways with a whole new dynamic.
Emmerdale, ITV1, 7.30pm
Steph goes into a full meltdown, smashing pots in the kitchen. When Ross finds out what's been happening, he's distraught. As Steph explains her feelings, he tries to console her, but receives a torrent of abuse. When Cain tells Moira about his mysterious call with Nate, Moira is gutted for him, but encourages him not to give up on getting through to his son. When Evan is taken into hospital, Billy feels guilty but Dawn convinces him that it wasn't his fault.
EastEnders, BBC1, 7.30pm
Joel finds Avani to arrange a meet-up so they can share the weed. Later, Avani is with Barney when Joel and Tommy arrive. Barney is gutted that Avani invited them, and things go from bad to worse when Joel makes a disparaging comment about Avani when she is out of the room. Johnny lays his cards on the table with Felix. Anna heads to The Albert to try and mend her relationship with Gina. At Harry's barn, Nicola faces a reckoning.

War film breaks viewers hearts - 'I've never sobbed so hard in my life'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Over 15 years since its release, audiences are finding it hard to let go of The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, as they continue to label the film "absolutely devastating". Asa Butterfield delivers a stirring performance as an eight-year-old boy in The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, unfolding amidst the terrors of the Second World War. Adapted from John Boyne's novel, the drama is fiercely set within the confines of Nazi-invaded Poland and dares to present an emotionally charged narrative that reduces viewers to tears. One Rotten Tomatoes critic expressed: "Such a heartbreaking story about love, friendship, and the unimaginable horrors of the Holocaust. Other than Schindler's List, I've never sobbed so hard in my life." Launched onto screens in 2008, the cinematic piece stars the actor well-known from Netflix's Sex Education as young Bruno, whose father's an SS officer whose new post requires the family to relocate to Poland. On a day filled with curiosity, Bruno encounters a concentration camp, which he naively assumes is a farm beyond his back garden; a place his mother strictly prohibits him from visiting. In a bout of defiance, Bruno slinks into the forest where he confronts a barbed wire fence enclosing the camp. At this border, he befriends Smuel, another youngster of his age, sparking a clandestine camaraderie, reports the Express. Day after day, Bruno sneaks away to see Smuel across the fence, gifting him bits of food. Eventually, Bruno comes to realise that his newfound chum is Jewish, having been brought to the camp with his parents. A review says: "This movie had me in tears after knowing the plot of it. It breaks my heart seeing the plot twist of the story. Seeing that Bruno was sorry and wanted to help Shmuel but ended up in a twisted fate, it awfully does break my heart. I'd definitely say this is a must watch movie if you badly want to cry." Another viewer remarked: "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a masterpiece. Highly absorbing and moving film. It makes me cry every time I watch it. Absolutely love it. One of my all-time favourites. It is one of those movies that goes straight to the heart." Nonetheless, amidst praises, the film has not been without its detractors who criticise its historical portrayal. A critique reads: "The story is exactly what comes out when a daydreaming, ignorant filmmaker tries to invent a cliché Holocaust drama in his own Hollywood bubble." It's important to acknowledge the significant role the children's novel and subsequent film adaptation have played in Holocaust education for youngsters. Holocaust educator Michael Grey notes that well over half of British Year 9 students (ages 13-14) engage more deeply with The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas than The Diary of Anne Frank. For those bracing themselves for an emotional cinema experience, The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime.
