In the viral clip, Jitesh Sharma is seen stuck outside the stadium until Dinesh Karthik arrives, with many online claiming he helped Jitesh gain entry after a guard denied him
A video of Indian cricketer Jitesh Sharma being stopped by a security guard and left waiting outside a stadium has gone viral on social media, sparking surprise and debate among fans.
In the clip, Sharma is seen standing among the crowd after allegedly being denied entry, until fellow cricketer Dinesh Karthik appears and seemingly helps him get in.
The incident, captured at Lord's during the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series, quickly gained traction online. However, Dinesh Karthik later clarified that the narrative was misleading, stating he had called Sharma to the commentary box himself.
Who Is Jitesh Sharma?
Jitesh Sharma, born on October 22, 1993 in Amravati, Maharashtra, is a right-handed wicketkeeper batter playing domestic cricket for Vidarbha. Debuting in the Ranji Trophy in 2015-16, he was bought by Mumbai Indians in the IPL in 2016-17 but did not play.
The 32-year-old, who later played for Punjab Kings in 2022, 2023, and 2024, was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the mega auction after three impressive seasons. Punjab Kings played a crucial role in RCB's first IPL trophy win.
Jitesh Sharma's successful IPL seasons led to his selection in the Indian team after his debut in 2023. He played his first international match in the Asian Games against Nepal on 3 October 2023, scoring 100 runs in nine matches with a strike rate of 147.05.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Not In 2027 World Cup Plans; BCCI Sets ‘THIS' Condition For ODI Future

In what could mark the beginning of a major shift in India's ODI cricket, reports suggest that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are not part of the team's long-term plans for the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. However, the two modern-day greats may still have a chance to extend their ODI careers, but only if they meet a key requirement set by the selectors. Vijay Hazare Participation According to multiple media sources, the BCCI selection panel has conveyed that both Kohli and Rohit must participate in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, India's premier domestic one-day tournament, to be considered for future ODI selections. The move is aimed at ensuring the players maintain match fitness, form, and competitive sharpness through regular cricket rather than relying solely on international appearances. The decision comes at a time when India is looking to groom the next generation of white-ball cricketers while maintaining a performance-based selection policy. With both players having already stepped away from T20Is and Tests, ODIs remain their last active format at the international level. Australia ODIs: A Possible Farewell The upcoming three-match ODI series in Australia, scheduled from October 19 to 25, 2025, is being viewed by many as a potential farewell tour for the duo. If they choose not to take part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, their appearances in that series could well be their last in Indian ODI colours. Kohli, India's highest run-getter in modern-day ODIs, and Rohit, one of the format's most successful captains and openers, have been central to India's white-ball success over the past decade. Their possible exit from ODIs would mark the end of an era and the start of a new chapter for Indian cricket. For now, the ball is in their court. Should they decide to lace up for the domestic competition, there may still be room for them in India's ODI set-up. If not, the Australia ODIs might serve as their final act on the 50-over stage.

Not Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni! Sanju Samson Calls India Captain As His Cricketing Idol

Last Updated: Sanju Samson, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, admires Rohit Sharma as his idol. India's ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, may no longer feature regularly across all three formats, but the legacy he has built remains a source of admiration and inspiration. He has called time on his Test and T20I careers, focusing solely now on the ODI World Cup 2027. However, he is still missed by many, not just those outside the Indian dressing room, but also within it. Sanju Samson, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, admires Rohit as his idol. The Kerala cricketer recently appeared in a podcast with former Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, where he said he idolised Rohit. On the show, Ashwin asked, '(Who is) Your all-time cricketing idol, and one modern player that you get excited to watch, as a fan?" Sanju replied, 'That's a big question. Uh… Rohit Sharma." Speaking about the modern-day player he gets excited to watch, Samson named 'Chinna Paiyan' Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 14-year-old opening batter made his IPL debut earlier this year, replacing an injured Samson in the Rajasthan Royals line-up. He quickly rose to fame with his extraordinary strokeplay and a sizzling century against the Gujarat Titans, becoming the youngest ever to do so in the league's history. He played 7 games in IPL 2025 and scored 252 runs, averaging 36. 'Yeah, I saw him hit one for a six. I was thinking that the little guy got lucky, but it kept on going. The quality of the shots also really shocked me," Samson admitted to Ravichandran Ashwin on the latter's YouTube show, Kutti Stories With Ash. And Samson and Ashwin weren't the only players in awe either. 'I saw Jos Buttler talking to Jofra Archer about it. About how it was to get smashed around by a 14-year-old in the nets," Ashwin said. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Not a young team, a gun team: Karun Nair on Gautam Gambhir's dressing room mantra

Karun Nair revealed that Gautam Gambhir's mantra was not to consider the team as one in transition and said that the Indian coach didn't want the players to feel that they were a young and inexperienced side. The Indian Test team has seen changes with the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, and Gambhir opting a team-first approach. One of the changes was Nair's return to the team after a wait of more than 3,000 days, as they were able to get a 2-2 draw against England in the recently concluded Test series. Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, the batter said that Gambhir was clear about his mantra for the side and told everyone to see themselves as a 'gun team' rather than a young one. advertisementNair said that the message within the team was to play for the side and support each other. "Right at the very beginning, Gauti [Gautam Gambhir] bhai said, he doesn't want us to look at it as a team in transition," said Nair. "He didn't want us to feel that way. The first message we got was 'this isn't a young team, this is a gun team and everyone must feel it from within.'" "The messaging within the group was that everyone plays for the team and supports each other. It's one thing for the coach or the captain to say it, but to feel it was amazing."When Team India got galvanised in EnglandNair also said that the late fightback by the Indian lower order during the Lord's Test was the one that galvanised the team. The batter said that despite India suffering defeat in the match, everyone was inspired seeing the fight back from the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj and Nitish Kumar Reddy. "From that position, where we had lost so many wickets, to see the fight Nitish [Kumar Reddy] and [Mohammed] Siraj put with Jaddu [Ravindra Jadeja] was inspiring," he says. "That never-give-up attitude was on display. There was disappointment at losing the Test but everyone was inspired," said Nair. The 33-year-old also said that Rishabh Pant's brave act to bat with a broken toe in Manchester exemplified the team's philosophy. "Then to see Rishabh walk out to bat with a broken toe - it was one of the moments of the series. It was astonishing for everyone to see. It told you what a great player he is, and more importantly, the person he is. That kind of exemplified the philosophy of the team. Of putting everything first for the team, it's not about individuals," said Nair. After the Lord's Test heartbreak, India were able to draw the match in Manchester before levelling the series at the Oval with a famous win. - Ends
