FROM playing "Wembley" in his primary-school playground in Reading to playing at Wembley in the Champions League final, Jamie Gittens has already made quite the mark in his fledgling football career.
Yet the exciting winger, who will only turn 21 in August, is now starring at the Club World Cup for Borussia Dortmund and could be on the brink of a mega-bucks move to Chelsea.

The Blues have already spent £1.4billion to assemble their current squad, but club transfer chiefs are desperate to bring their former youth star back home.
Reports suggest they have tabled a seven-year offer to tempt him into a Stamford Bridge return, despite a £42million bid being rejected earlier this month.
Gittens - who changed his surname from Bynoe-Gittens on the advice of his father - enjoyed a breakout season in the first team of Borussia Dortmund.
Across 48 games in all competitions before the Club World Cup, 34 of which he started, the England youth star netted 12 goals and added five assists.

His club are said to be expecting him to leave this summer, but he has already etched his name in the history books there.
In October, at 20 years and 75 days old, Gittens became the youngest English player to score against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
And only four months prior in June, he was starring in the Champions League final for the German side against Real, coming on as a late substitute for Jadon Sancho.
In many ways Gittens is a spiritual successor to Sancho.

Gittens started his career at local side Caversham Trents before he was picked up by Reading aged seven, while also spending some time with Chelsea.
At Under-9 level he stayed with Reading before the Blues and Arsenal showed interest in him at Under-14 level, but he chose to snub both and join Manchester City.

It was a decision that was tough on him and his family due to the three-hour train journey which forced him to stay with a host family and change schools.

Despite the ordeal, Gittens said it was an easy decision to make, telling Secret Scout last year: "It was an easy decision.
"I could have gone to Arsenal but I chose City because they were producing players like Brahim Diaz and Jadon Sancho back then.
"At the start, I didn't really believe it. I'm from a small town in the middle of nowhere.
"When they told me that they wanted me, I was just surprised, but thought that all the hard work I had put in was paying off."

Then in 2020, he completed the Sancho-inspired journey to join Dortmund, where he has since developed into one of England's brightest talents and had the chance to play alongside Jude Bellingham and Sancho.
Martyn Beney, Gittens' former coach at Caversham, told SunSport last year: "A month into his training with us, we were thinking 'Christ, this boy has got some serious ability'.

"His dribbling was incredible, even as a six-year-old. Jamie was a shy boy behind the scenes, with a really nice, sporty family, but they didn't push him...

"They said they wanted him to be coached in a way where he could enjoy it, learn a few things along the way and can develop naturally. That's exactly what we did...
"To see him develop and get this chance, which we all know is minimal percentages, from a local level, where his parents still live in the village, is a delight.
'To have mentors like Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, who really was the first one to tell reporters, 'Watch this kid, he's coming up next' and to know he started with us, is great. It's a really nice story and one that the club is very proud of."
It hasn't all been smooth sailing for Gittens though, with him suffering numerous injuries including operations on both joints and a shoulder issue dating back to when he was 14.

He has also had to make major life changes, cutting out his favourite sugary treats like chocolate and sweets in a bid to make it to the top.
Fast-forward to today, and he has also lost game time since Niko Kovac was appointed on January 29, including playing just eight minutes off the bench in the final two Bundesliga games of the season.
But Chelsea's interest in Gittens - who won the Under-19 European Championships with England in 2023 - has not faded, and they are set to table another bid of £55m to try and tempt Dortmund into selling.

CHELSEA have become adept at nicking some of the talent factory from rivals Man City - and it doesn't look like stopping any time soon.
Jamie Gittens would be the EIGHTH high-profile name to move to Stamford Bridge from The Etihad, sometimes via a couple of other clubs in between - not including Jadon Sancho who spent last season at Stamford Bridge on loan.

Chelsea youngster Tyrique George insists he has NO concerns over his future amid Jamie Gittens interest
Tyrique George is practically a collector's item at Chelsea – a 19-year-old from their Cobham production line who cracked first team football without needing any loans. Reece James, Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah, Conor Gallagher, Mason Mount, Dominic Solanke, Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham – we could go on – they all went elsewhere for the experience. But not George. Permanently promoted midway through last season, he went straight from the Under 21s into Enzo Maresca 's side, and scored the third goal in their 3-0 Club World Cup win over ES Tunis as they reached the last 16 here in the United States. As the softly-spoken teenager tells us while standing beside their training pitch in Philadelphia, he is not too bothered by the talk of them signing another left winger such as Borussia Dortmund 's Jamie Gittens. Nor does he get bogged down by the fact that he represents pure profit in a PSR world. While he describes himself as 'reserved', George backs himself to overcome the odds further, not only by staying at Chelsea for the foreseeable but by forcing his way into the line-up as 'one of their own'. 'I'm not too sure how I did it,' he says on featuring for Chelsea's seniors. 'I just worked hard, every day in training, trying to show that I want to play. I've just got my chops. 'I've heard it a few times (the fans singing how he is one their own). It means so much. Really. 'When they sing my name, you feel tingles in your body, it's weird. I just get so happy.' Asked whether he is concerned that homegrown footballers can be seen as assets, he replies: 'I'm not really focused on what's going on elsewhere. 'When you're at Chelsea, you just want to play. There's always going to be competition whether they do sign one (a left winger) or not. 'I'm always ready to learn from them. I learn from all the forward players.' George grew up in Camden – don't worry, he insists he doesn't support Arsenal – and was spied by a Chelsea scout at the age of eight. Tyrique George credits the support of his mother with helping him make the grade at Chelsea At 12 years-old, on their recommendation, he moved to South Croydon to attend Royal Russell School. Going from one area of London to another may not sound like too grand of a leap, but for a kid, it is another world. He credits his mum, Anita, with helping him fulfil his dream in becoming a professional footballer. 'It was a tough move,' he recalls. 'I was emotional, if I'm being honest. 'All my friends were in north London. I didn't really want to move to South Croydon. 'Basically, my whole life was in Camden. 'But it was a decision I had to make for my career. I had that self-belief. 'My family backed me as well so it gave me that confidence to take that step. I could have stayed but I chose to leave. Had George not scored away to Fulham, Chelsea might not have Champions League football 'It was closer to Cobham. I think it was worth it. 'I used to get the train with my mum from Camden to Cobham, which was really long. 'After school, there and back. I've got no clue what lines we took. 'I'd just get on the train with mum. She put in all those hours for me. She didn't have to do it. 'She took me to training after she'd finished work, there and back, tired. She's a teacher. 'Training would be an hour and a half. We'd get back late, but it was worth it.' Having won Chelsea's academy player of the season for 2024-25, George feels as if he is now repaying his mum with the leaps he is taking. 'Of course I'm proud, but I don't really take the time to think about it, just because everything's so fast-paced,' he says. 'I'm happy for myself. I just want to keep growing and keep playing and see where it takes me – hopefully to a really high level.' It has taken him to Chelsea's first team at 19 years-old thus far, and had he not scored his stupendous late strike away at Fulham in April, his club may have never made it into the Champions League.

Jack Hinshelwood out to ‘break the mould' with England U21s and claims Young Lions aren't weighed down by past failures
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) JACK HINSHELWOOD says England's young guns are out to 'break the mould' and finally end 60 years of hurt next summer. The Brighton star, 20, could get his hands on his first piece of silverware with the Three Lions on his shirt on Saturday in Bratislava. Along with the 2023 group Lee Carsley led to glory before them, which included the likes of Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon, they are dead set on conquering the world. Hinshelwood said: 'We've got to remain humble. We're in the Under-21s. But we've got a great group and Lee always talks about how we need to break the mould of what people think of English football. 'We haven't won a major tournament for 60 plus years now. We know that we have amazing individuals in this group. Two years ago, they also had an amazing group and you see what them players are doing now. 'It's really inspiring for us and really gives us that extra motivation to want to do well and reach that level.' Legendary names - including the famous Golden Generation - have failed to deliver for the nation. However, Hinshelwood insists his generation is not weighed down by history. He said: 'No, of course not. The past is in the past and there's not much we can do about it. We're all looking to the future and there's a bright future.' BEST FREE BETS AND BETTING SIGN UP OFFERS Hinshelwood faces a huge year ahead - and not just on the pitch with Brighton and trying to catch Thomas Tuchel's eye. He revealed last month that he and his girlfriend are expecting their first child. England and Spain stars in mass brawl after U21 Euro quarter-final And speaking of family, Hinshelwood himself comes from a huge footballing one. Great-grandfather Wally Hinshelwood, his grandad Paul, great-uncle Martin and his dad Adam, manager of National League York City and who will travel out to the final, were all pro players. Some say Hinshelwood was born to play the beautiful game - but hearing about all of his team-mates' journeys has helped create an unbreakable bond between the group. He said: 'I've learned so much from my family and speaking to the boys here, they've got amazing families and everyone's got different journeys. 3 His ex-pro dad Adam, manager of York City, is flying out for the final Credit: Getty 'It's nice to hear how everyone has got to this point and it brings us closer together so yeah it's really nice. 'Sometimes we don't get to see each other as much but when you're away for a tournament you get to spend good quality time with these people and get to know them and you can build great bonds. We've got a great bond off the pitch and we're now showing it on the pitch. 'This is my first international tournament, so it's great being here and I've loved every second. To get to the final is amazing, but we know we've got one more job to do now and that's to bring it home.' Hinshelwood added: 'Right from the start we came in with a lot of belief that we can really do well in this tournament and go all the way. 'We probably didn't really show up until the quarter-finals. But these last two games we've really put in good performances and the results have followed. We've got one more big job to do now.'

Paddy Power offer: Back Juventus at 60/1 or Man City at 40/1 at Club World Cup
Paddy Power is offering new customers odds huge enhanced offer when backing the winner in this Club World Cup showdown between Juventus and Manchester City Paddy Power is getting in on the Club World Cup action as Manchester City set to face Juventus with both sides already set for the round of 16 ahead of their final group stage match. New customers can back the Old Lady to beat Pep Guardiola's side at 60/1 enhanced odds or back the favourites City to win at 40/1. Manchester City, under Pep Guardiola's leadership, face a formidable opponent in Juventus - arguably their toughest challenge in the group stage. Yet, they stand as the only team in the tournament who have yet to let in a goal. Their journey so far has seen them triumph with 2-0 and 6-0 victories in their initial games. Their winning streak began with a win against Wydad Casablanca from Morocco in Philadelphia. This was followed by a decisive 6-0 victory over Al Ain from the UAE in Atlanta. These successes propelled the Citizens into the Club World Cup's Round of 16, even with a game left to play. Juventus are also Florida-bound, having locked down their spot in the last 16 after back-to-back victories at the start of their Club World Cup journey. A draw would be enough for them to clinch the title of Group G winners and potentially steer clear of a Round of 16 face-off with five-time champions Real Madrid. Igor Tudor, former Juventus player and current manager since March end, has an impressive record with only one loss out of 11 games since taking charge. The club is currently on a seven-match unbeaten run and has secured victories in their last four games.
