Comedian Diane Morgan's widely praised BBC series Mandy has finally returned for another batch of chaos.
The Philomena Cunk star, 49, has written, directs and stars in the sitcom where she plays the titular heroine – the 'hapless, jobless Mandy'.
'[Her] daft adventures mostly end in disaster. She's got Big Dreams, but can she actually be bothered?' the show aptly describes itself.
The theme tune? Barry Manilow's Mandy of course!
Each season contains six bite-sized episodes making it the perfect one-week binge in which we see Mandy get up to genuinely bonkers hijinks with Morgan's quintessential flavour of character acting.
Seriously, one episode opens with her stark naked on a table, save for some sushi adorned around her body, followed by a host of businessmen digging into their dinner.
In another, she is entirely convinced she has eaten an old man's dog. Essentially, it's the kind of show that needs to be seen to be believed.
The show also boasts a wild list of guest stars including Maxine Peake, Natalie Cassidy and Shaun Ryder to name a few, if you can believe it.
Over the years it has made a mighty impression on viewers.
'Absolutely loved this show, so silly! Watched it with my mum and we still quote it haha,' Mat W wrote on Rotten Tomatoes.
'Stupid, stupid, stupid, predictable, cliche and utterly childish. Loving every minute of it,' one anonymous user quipped, saying one episode left them 'crying with laughter'.
'Diane Morgan is a comic genius: writer, director, comedienne, actress,' another anonymous user praised in a five-star review.
'The Quirkiness of Mandy is its best feauture. And its running time of 15 minutes works really well. Diane Morgans performance in Mandy is unique and different,' another echoed.
'Full of absurd and subversive humour,' Piotr W agreed.
Critics are in agreement.
'It's bold and ludicrous, but economical too. It don't mean a thing. It is, however, a glorious release from all those things that do mean a thing,' The Time shared.
'This was enjoyably escapist comedy, daft for the sake of daftness, and all the more welcome for it,' the Daily Telegraph echoed.
Although the humour may not always land with The Guardian warning it is 'not as tight or laugh out loud funny' and The Independent agreeing it's provokes wry smiles rather than belly laughs.'
An official synopsis for the fourth season reads teases that she'll continue 'to live hand-to-wonky-mouth, cooking up enough dodgy side hustles and trashy cash hacks to hopefully climb up into the squeezed middle and out of the squashed bottom.'
It adds: 'Constantly harassed, pursued and persecuted by her benefits officer (Tom Basden), Mandy finds solace in her friend Lola's (Michelle Greenidge) salon, drinking in the heady aroma of cheap bleach and Minty Pig nail polish.' More Trending
Discussing how she settled on the tone of the show which is apparently based on a woman she met once, she once told The Guardian: 'Most people nowadays are doing downbeat, naturalistic comedy. I wanted to do something mad and silly. I crave silliness.
'A bit of pure escapism. It's turned out much weirder than I imagined. It's quite visual, like a Viz cartoon, but I'm happy with it.'
Mandy is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

BBC Destination X viewers call out 'fake' blunder minutes into show

Destination X kicked off on Wednesday night with Rob Brydon as the host, however, not all viewers were impressed with the first episode of the BBC reality show. BBC viewers were united in their reaction on Wednesday evening as Rob Brydon's fresh series Destination X made its debut. ‌ The new reality competition show has 13 contestants embarking on an epic European adventure, but there's a twist – not everything is as straightforward as it appears. ‌ Aboard the mysterious X-bus with its blacked-out windows, the participants' only task is to deduce their location on the continent by deciphering a trail of clues. ‌ Each episode culminates with the contestants marking an X on a map; the one whose guess is furthest from their true location faces elimination. Yet, as the programme began, it seemed that the initial scenes, featuring hopefuls at an airport ready for their enigmatic journey, didn't quite win over all the viewers, reports Wales Online. One viewer expressed disinterest: "No, can't be bothered with this. They all seem annoying." ‌ Another was sceptical, posting: "Blatantly a fake airport lounge #DestinationX". A third shared their disbelief, commenting: "Straight away I call shenanigans. No way British people will talk so quickly to strangers in an airport lounge. #DestinationX" One unimpressed comment read: "#DestinationX is a bit s**t so far." However, some viewers were instantly captivated by the show, with one saying: "Giving #DestinationX ago enjoying it so far." ‌ Another added praise for the host: "Rob Brydon steals the show in everything he's in. Love him #DestinationX" Throughout the programme, participants were whisked away by helicopter whilst sporting distinctive goggles that obscured their view from the aircraft windows. ‌ Nevertheless, there were brief instances when the eyewear permitted glimpses of the outside world, offering contestants fleeting opportunities to work out their destination. All they could make out were rolling fields and rural landscapes, with some speculating whether they'd been deceived and simply flown in circles back to where they started. In an ingenious move, audiences at home were also invited to participate as the programme deliberately withheld the contestants' actual location, encouraging viewers to make their own educated guesses. ‌ Fans would need to remain patient until the episode's conclusion to learn whether their predictions had hit the mark. In a brutal development, three participants faced immediate removal from the contest before even departing the airport, as Rob set them a challenge to locate items bearing specific names with limited tickets up for grabs. ‌ Those who failed to secure the required names found themselves heading home empty-handed, losing their shot at the £100,000 prize. Discussing the fresh format, presenter Rob Brydon revealed: "I've never done a TV show on this scale before. I loved the idea of it, the combination of having to work out clues as to where you are and having to get on with each other. "It struck me as the best bits of The Traitors with the best bits of Race Across the World."

Ncuti Gatwa heavily teases he 'might' return to Doctor Who

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Ncuti Gatwa just dropped an almighty tease about a possible return to Doctor Who after his swift two-season run as the main man. The Sex Education actor, 32, stepped into the role in 2023, but after just 18 months departed amid low viewing figures and a lack of hype surrounding the series. At the time, Ncuti explained he walked away from the iconic role because he was 'getting old'. He continued, talking to Laura Kuenssberg: 'My body was tired. It takes a lot out of you. Physically, emotionally, mentally. It was time.' But the road might not be over just yet. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. On tonight's episode of The One Show, when quizzed by Alex Jones about his regret of never having fought a Dalek or Cyberman – Doctor Who's most iconic villains – he responded with what appeared to be a tease. 'I never got to fight a Dalek or a Cyberman. Just the crux of Doctor Who. Yeah, so… Might do that… Might go fight a Dalek,' he said, before Jamie Lee Curtis erupted on the sofa next to him, and joked the BBC magazine show was giving them 'truth serum' instead of water. 'I know!' Ncuti exclaimed, before taking a drink of water. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video In the final episode of Doctor Who, aired on May 31 by Disney and BBC, saw Ncuti 'regenerate' into an unexpected form, as is tradition with the show when a new Doctor replaces another. This time, though, the 15th doctor regenerated into Billie Piper, who played the Doctor's assistant Rose Tyler between 2005 and 2010 alongide David Tennent. Whether she is the 16th Doctor remains to be seen. In a press release after the regeneration, the BBC said: 'Just how and why she [Billie Piper] is back remains to be seen…' Billie said fans would have to 'wait and see' what she does next . Many fans noted that in the credits for the last episode The Reality War, where Billie made the unexpected return, she was not credited as the Doctor as in all other cases, but simply: 'Introducing Billie Piper.' It seems Billie might be returning in a smaller capacity, as in an interview with The Independent in 2024, she previously explained: 'I wouldn't go back as a full-time thing, but I'd love to make another appearance.' Meanwhile, in a statement announcing his departure, Ncuti – who is the first Doctor since Christopher Eccleston to act in fewer than three seasons – said: 'You know when you get cast, at some point you are going to have to hand back that sonic screwdriver and it is all going to come to an end, but nothing quite prepares you for it.' He added: 'There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Gatwa thanked fans for making it a 'touching experience', adding: 'I've loved every minute of it, but now is the time to hand over the keys to that beloved blue box and let someone else take control and enjoy it every bit as much as I have. 'I'll truly miss it, and forever be grateful to it, and everyone that has played a part in my journey as the Doctor.' Ncuti's desire to fight a Dalek has been well-documented over the years, as he told Entertainment Weekly early doors: 'What on earth would be the point of me being Doctor Who if I never fight the Daleks?' Despite this, the bubble-wrapped bin villains never showed up on screen during his tenure, and neither did Cybermen and the Master. While the next series of Doctor Who hasn't officially been confirmed, it's been reported the BBC will continue the series regardless of whether Disney are up for future collaborations or not. More Trending This came after rumours Disney could be withdrawing its partnership due to poor viewing figures. However, Doctor Who fans will be pleased to hear The Mirror reported a few months ago that showrunner Russell T Davies has planned the next two seasons, with scripts for season 16 almost finished and the 17th season in the works. So perhaps Ncuti really does know something we don't… The One Show airs every weekday at 7pm. Got a story? Ncuti Gatwa reveals biggest Doctor Who regret as he addresses shock exit

Ncuti Gatwa took to The One Show sofa on Wednesday afternoon as he opened up about his time on Doctor Who - telling hosts Alex Jones and Clara Amfo his biggest regret Ncuti Gatwa opened up about his biggest regret while filming Doctor Who as he appeared on The One Show sofa alongside Alex Jones and Clara Amfo on Wednesday afternoon. ‌ The actor, 32, who first gained widespread recognition in Netflix 's Sex Education, stepped down from his role as the Time Lord after two series. His successor has already been confirmed as Billie Piper, who previously played the Doctor's companion Rose Tyler in 2005. ‌ Addressing his exit in a video earlier this year, Ncuti said the role had taken a toll on him. "It's a role that demands a lot of you physically and emotionally and mentally," he shared. "The actors playing the Doctor are only actors playing the Doctor. Unfortunately, we are mere mortals. ‌ "I would love to have the energy and the youth to be able to do this full time for the rest of my life, but my knees are telling me it's time." Now, Ncuti has opened up further about his time on the show, as he spoke about his biggest regret. Speaking on BBC's The One Show, Alex Jones announced that she was aware Ncuti had one regret about his time on the show - and he wasn't afraid to share it. ‌ Reading out a viewers question, Alex read out: "You were absolutely amazing as the Dr, thank you for being so brilliant." "Awww, love you Jonathan," he said before sharing his regret during his two series on the show. ‌ "I never got to fight a Dalek," he said. "A Dalek or a Cyberman. It's just the crooks of Dr Who. Might do that. Might go start a Dalek," he laughed. Last month, the star took to social media to reflect on the journey over the past two years: 'Monsters, goblins, gods, human-eating Slugs, invisible brain altering creatures, evil barbers, conspiracy theorists… you've had quite a busy two years. Well done and rest up son. Thank you endlessly XV. "You know when you get cast, at some point, you are going to have to hand back that sonic screwdriver and it is all going to come to an end, but nothing quite prepares you for it. This journey has been one that I will never forget and a role that will be part of me forever," he continued. "There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe."
