Phoebe Gates
, daughter of Bill Gates, and her former Stanford roommate Sophia Kianni have officially launched Phia, a free AI-powered app designed to help users find the best prices on fashion items. As reported by People, the app is designed to make
online shopping
smarter, faster, and more affordable.
How the Phia online shopping app created by Phoebe Gates works
Phia uses AI to compare prices across 40,000+ retail and secondhand sites, offering instant insights on whether an item is fairly priced or overpriced. Users can tap the 'Should I Buy This?' button on the Phia browser extension to receive price checks and suggestions for better-priced alternatives. The app is available on iOS and as a Chrome browser extension, catering to both mobile and desktop shoppers.
What Phoebe Gates and Sophia Kianni said about the app
Phoebe Gates and Sophia Kianni, both passionate about fashion, created Phia to address the challenges of endless scrolling and manual price comparisons. 'Shopping for the things you love shouldn't be hard, expensive, or a waste of time. That's why we built Phia—to make finding the best deal effortless,' the co-founders said in a statement to People.
The app also promotes sustainability, leveraging a database of 250 million secondhand items from platforms like The RealReal, Vestiaire Collective, and Poshmark. Users can save preferences, track prices, and build collections, making Phia a personalised shopping assistant.
Phia has already secured investments from notable figures, including Kris Jenner and Desiree Gruber, highlighting its potential to disrupt the e-commerce space.

Memes erupt after Vijay Mallya's ‘image-cleansing' podcast with Raj Shamani goes viral
Businessman Vijay Mallya, the former Kingfisher Airlines chief facing multiple fraud charges in India, made a rare public appearance on YouTuber Raj Shamani's podcast to share his "true factual story." The episode went viral, racking up over 22 million views in just five days. However, social media users quickly called out what many saw as an attempt to whitewash Mallya's image, given his fugitive status under Indian law. Critics claimed the podcast episode tried to paint the former liquor baron as a victim, despite the businessman's ongoing legal battle with Indian authorities and lenders over debts exceeding Rs11,100 crore, including massive defaults to the State Bank of India (SBI). Memes and jokes quickly spread online, with many branding the podcast a "washing machine" for fugitives and fraudsters. Some users mocked the show by suggesting a lineup of future controversial guests, while others even created parody thumbnails imagining who might be featured next. Meanwhile, Mallya expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response to the podcast. 'To say that I am humbled and overwhelmed is well short of what I truly feel. A big heartfelt thank you to all those who took the time to watch my 4 hour plus podcast with @rajshamani. 20 million views on YouTube alone in 4 days and god knows how many more reposts on Instagram and Facebook fills my heart with joy that my true factual story is being heard. May god bless you all," he wrote on X. During the interview, Mallya said he would consider returning to India from the UK if he were assured of a fair trial. "I will think about it seriously," he stated. Mallya remains the subject of India's ongoing extradition efforts related to his alleged loan defaults. Apple iOS 26: From realtime translations to Games app, 10 must-try features
A few hours after Apple unveiled iOS 26 at its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2025, the tech giant started rolling out the first developer version of its operating system. The newest iOS version not only brings a ton of new features, but also gets a fresh UI redesign, which Apple calls 'Liquid Glass'. Here are some of the best features coming to the iPhone with iOS 26. Starting with the biggest visual change, iOS 26 introduces a new design language called 'Liquid Glass'. Inspired by the translucent interface from visionOS, Apple has changed the look of things like menus, options and notifications, Control Center and more. To match the new appearance, the tech giant has also updated the look and feel of first-party apps like Messages, Phone and Camera. Also, user interface elements like toolbars and tabs are getting a visual overhaul. Instead of drop-down lists, iOS 26 now features rounded menus, which Apple says are less distracting. With iOS 26, Apple has also changed the way the lock screen and homescreen look. The lockscreen now has a redesigned time and date widget with a Liquid Glass interface, and there's a new dynamic widget that changes the lock size according to the wallpaper. What's more, users can also create spatial scenes that offer depth and realism when they move their phone. As for the homescreen, Apple is changing the way app icons look. With iOS 26, you now have the option to make app icons translucent. For years, the camera app on iOS has mostly stayed the same. However, with the latest iOS version, Apple has spiced up things. Instead of the familiar and cluttered rows of modes just above the shutter button, Apple has moved it to the bottom of the screen. The update also hides the various options that appear on the screen, neatly hiding them in a menu that can be accessed by simply swiping up from the mode you are in. Powered by Apple Intelligence, iOS 26 is getting a new Live Translation feature, which, as the name suggests, can automatically translate messages in your preferred language in real time. The Apple Intelligence-powered feature is also making its way to other first-party apps like Phone and FaceTime. Alongside real-time translation, the Phone app is also getting a new feature that lets you summarise your voice calls. These AI-generated voicemail summaries give you an overview of what you talked about and are visible on the main screen. Apple has also introduced a new unified layout that merges Favourites, Recents and Voicemails on the same page. Apple Maps is also getting a bunch of upgrades. For example, the navigation app will now remember your preferred locations and travel paths. Also, if an alternate route is available, Apple Maps will show a notification when driving. Your iPhone will also be able to log your visited locations. This information is end-to-end encrypted and can be easily removed with a swipe. iPhones running iOS 26 will also get a new Games app that acts as a central hub for all available games and gives you quick access to Apple Arcade titles. You also get a dedicated section for multiplayer games and leaderboards. Apple introduced Visual Intelligence with iOS 18, but the feature was limited to the camera viewfinder. But with iOS 26, the enhanced functionality can also give you information about what's on your screen. However, the feature is more of a screenshot tool, as you will have to capture an image before getting more information about it. Another nifty addition is that Visual Intelligence can now scan an image and ask if you want to add details about an event to the Calendar app. If you are someone who often uses emojis, there's some good news for you. With iOS 26, iPhone users will be able to mix two emojis using Genmoji in the keyboard itself. Alternatively, you can also use the Image Playground app to generate new emojis and mix and match them to your liking. Talking of Image Playground, Apple says users can now ask ChatGPT to generate images in various styles like Ghibli, lo-fi and more. Apple is also bringing three of the biggest additions introduced with iOS 26 to CarPlay. These include widgets, live activities and tapback response. Similar to iMessage, users can also choose to pin their favourite conversations. Also, the incoming call UI will no longer take over the entire screen, but instead it will be positioned at the bottom of the screen. Anyone using an iPhone 11 or later can install iOS 26 on their device. However, Apple Intelligence features are only available on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all models in the iPhone 16 series, including the recently launched iPhone 16e. To install iOS 26 on your phone, head over to ' and log in with your user ID. Now, enable Developer Mode by going to Settings> Privacy and Security. Once done, open Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and choose 'iOS 26 Developer Beta'. Here, tap on the 'Download and Install' button and follow the on-screen instructions. Your iPhone needs to be running iOS 18.5 to get the iOS 26 Developer Beta. Also, make sure you have backed up your important data and that there is at least 15GB of free space. Note: Since iOS 26 is currently not stable, you might experience some bugs and issues here and there, so make sure you refrain from install iOS 26 on your primary device. OpenAI may partner with Google; Tesla robotaxis slated to launch this month; OpenAI rolls out o3-pro model
OpenAI may partner with Google In a development that would mark a surprising twist in the relationship between two tech and AI rivals if it pans out, Reuters cited anonymous sources to report that OpenAI is planning to add Google cloud service in order to meet its computing capacity needs. While the deal was being discussed for months, it was finalised in May, per the sources. OpenAI's main financial backer was Microsoft but both companies have shown signs of reducing their reliance on one another. OpenAI in particular has been entering into partnerships with other giants such as SoftBank. If the deal is implemented, it means Google's cloud unit will supply additional computing capacity to OpenAI's existing infrastructure so that it can train and run its AI models. OpenAI is in an interesting position with regards to Google, as it could pose a threat to the internet giant's search dominance, should it venture into AI-powered search offerings of its own. In addition to this, Google is facing antitrust challenges in the U.S., with the Department of Justice pushing for the forced divestment of Chrome. Google's DeepMind AI unit also competes with OpenAI. Tesla robotaxis slated to launch this month Elon Musk said that his EV company Tesla was 'tentatively' ready to launch its robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, from June 22. Musk is known for ambitious deadlines that he continually pushes back, and in this case, he warned that the June 22 starting date may be changed as the company is focusing on safety to the extent of being 'paranoid.' Musk had previously told CNBC that the Tesla taxis will be remotely monitored at first and will operate in parts of the city that are considered safe. A small number of Tesla robotaxis will run at first, before being scaled. The service is expected to come to other cities such as Los Angeles, San Antonio, San Francisco, and more. Tesla sales have fallen in recent years for a variety of reasons, including Musk's own right-wing politics, a rise in competition in the EV sector, and changes to the Model Y car. OpenAI rolls out o3-pro model OpenAI announced that it was rolling out its o3-pro model, which will be available in the model picker for Pro and Team users, replacing OpenAI o1-pro. The company claimed that reviewers preferred o3-pro to o3, due to reported improvements in areas including science, education, programming, data analysis, and writing. OpenAI also noted that o3-pro could search the web, analyse files, process visual inputs, use Python, and personalise responses using memory, amongst other tasks. On the other hand, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that users will have to wait longer for a highly-anticipated open-weights model, since it will need more time before being ready for release.
