AKPS nabs Indian national trying to smuggle 2,500 turtles through KLIA
The suspect, who was scheduled to board a flight to Bengaluru, India, was detained at 10.05pm at the departure gate during a routine security operation.
Acting on intelligence information, enforcement officers from AKPS KLIA and Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel conducted a scan of the suspect's luggage which revealed suspicious images.
Further inspection uncovered thousands of Red-eared Slider turtles hidden inside the baggage, with all the wildlife subsequently seized for further investigation.

The case is now being investigated under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 and the International Trade in Endangered Species Act 2008.
AKPS said the successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness of integrated inspections and close cooperation between it, KLIA, PERHILITAN, AVSEC, and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) in combating increasingly rampant wildlife smuggling activities.

PETALING JAYA : Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail says police investigations are free from political interference, including in its probe against editors of a Chinese daily over the incorrect depiction of the Jalur Gemilang. Saifuddin said that police had investigated two Sin Chew Daily editors under Section 3(1)(c) of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act 1963; Section 4(1)(b) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984; and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. Section 3(1)(c) deals with the use of an emblem without the permission of the minister, while Section 4(1)(b) deals with producing publications that cause hostility, enmity, hatred, disharmony or disunity. Section 233 deals with improper use of network facilities. 'The police carry out their duties professionally, independently without any political interference, at all times,' he said in a written parliamentary reply. Saifuddin said this in response to Lim Lip Eng (PH-Kepong) who wanted to know why the two editors were remanded over the gaffe but no arrests were made for a similar blunder by a PAS politician and the education ministry. Lim had questioned the alleged double standards in the investigations. In April, Sin Chew courted controversy for publishing an illustration featuring the Jalur Gemilang without the crescent moon, leading to a police investigation. Its two top editors were subsequently detained. The daily swiftly apologised for the 'technical mistake' and suspended its chief editor and deputy chief sub-editor pending the outcome of the investigation. A week after Sin Chew's snafu, the education ministry had to apologise for a mistake in the design of the Jalur Gemilang printed in its Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results analysis report. The report contained an image of a Jalur Gemilang with two stars, instead of one, hanging on a classroom wall. The flag had eight alternating red and white stripes instead of 14. In May, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan acknowledged the incident involving the logo for the Himpunan Teguh Memimpin Terengganu (TMT 1.0) 2025, which depicted an incomplete national flag with incorrect star points and stripes. He then called for a thorough investigation and firm action over the blunder.

Four Bangladeshi Men Detained At KLIA For Touting
PUTRAJAYA, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), in collaboration with Aviation Security (AVSEC), detained four Bangladeshi men suspected of being involved in illegal gold dealing and smartphone activities at Terminal 1. It said in a statement today that the arrest was the result of initial intelligence and profiling by AVSEC, which led to the seizure of various items with a total value of RM187,742.10. "Among the seized items were three pieces of jewellery believed to be gold, worth RM160,000, 12 smartphones of various brands, worth RM22,700, RM5,042.10 in cash, and five international passports belonging to Bangladeshi nationals," according to the statement. The agency said all suspects were arrested for investigation under the Immigration Act 1959/63. Three of them are suspected of violating Rule 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for breaching their pass conditions, while another is being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the same act for entering and remaining in the country without a valid pass or permit. A police report was also made following the arrest, and all individuals involved were handed over to the Selangor Immigration Department's (JIM) enforcement division for further investigation and prosecution. Meanwhile, a total of 21 foreigners were denied entry into Malaysia, while another was arrested after AKPS at KLIA foiled attempts to enter and exit the country illegally using three different modus operandi at Terminal 2 (T2). AKPS said all these attempts were successfully thwarted by the AKPS KLIA T2 Monitoring Team during a routine monitoring conducted by the team yesterday. It said that the first case involved six Cambodians while the second case involved three Indonesians, and the third case involved a Chinese national. Additionally, AKPS said that seven Indian and five Pakistani nationals were also denied entry when they attempted to pass through the Immigration checkpoint without proper inspection.
