Trichy: In a boost to patient care and medical infrastructure at
Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Govt Hospital
(MGMGH) in Trichy, the hospital has received medical equipment worth Rs 98.44 lakh.
The new equipment includes an echocardiogram (echo) machine with probes for adult, paediatric, and neonatal patients; an electromagnetic stimulation therapy device; and a combined ultrasonic therapy unit.
The echocardiogram is used to examine the structure of the heart and surrounding blood vessels, assess blood flow, and evaluate the heart's chambers. Nearly 200 patients daily visit the cardiology department in the hospital from Trichy and neighbouring districts.
The orthopaedic block will use the electromagnetic stimulation therapy device to treat musculoskeletal conditions by stimulating the healing process and reducing inflammation. "It can help with fractures, stiffness and chronic pain conditions. This will significantly improve treatment outcomes as well," a senior hospital official told TOI.

‘Family planning boosts women power, pillar of holistic devpt'
Lucknow: Emphasising that family planning was an effective means to women's empowerment, principal secretary, health and family welfare, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma said that family planning is not just about population control, it must be seen as a pillar of holistic development. "The aim of family planning is not mere population control, but to build an empowered, educated and healthy society. This requires an integrated approach linking education, nutrition, women's empowerment and health. Such coordination is not possible without convergence across departments. The integrated development model adopted in Shravasti is a great example and should be replicated in other high-priority districts," Sharma said on Friday. Girl's condition stable after emergency surgery: Doc
1 2 3 L ucknow: The three-year-old rape survivor, who was admitted to King George's Medical University (KGMU) in a critical condition and underwent emergency surgery, is now stable. Head of the department of pediatric surgery, KGMU, Prof JD Rawat said, "The girl suffered deep injuries on her private parts and there was significant contamination, requiring immediate medical intervention. We performed surgery on her. There was severe tearing and infection, so we conducted thorough cleaning and dressing. Additionally, we created a bypass in her abdomen to prevent stool from passing through the injured area. " "The girl, who weighs around 10-12 kg, was also given a blood transfusion. One unit of blood was administered to her. She is now stable," he added. "We will consider reconstructive surgery only after one-and-a-half months when the wound below is completely infection-free and healing has progressed," said Prof Rawat. He clarified that while the injuries were severe in vaginal and anal regions, there was no damage to internal organs. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo "The tearing is extensive in the lower portion, but internal organs remain unaffected," he said. HC grants conditional release of documents for PG medical students
Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court Friday provided relief to MBBS graduates pursuing post-graduate studies and directed SMS Medical College and other medical institutions to return their original documents in a case regarding post-PG senior residency internship. The court stipulated that petitioners must provide an undertaking to the state govt, agreeing to pay Rs 10 lakhs if they do not complete their senior residency. While hearing over two hundred petitions, including one by Dr Syed Shabaz and others, Justice Sameer Jain dismissed the state govt's review petition on grounds that the matter is already being heard by a division bench. "We have maintained that govt wants them to serve in govt hospital for 2 years after completing post-graduation," stated Archit Bohra, additional govt counsel. Petitioners explained that during PG course admission, applicant are required to sign a Rs 10 lakh bond, promising to serve the state govt for two years post-course, or pay the bond amount of Rs 10 lakh. Petitioners, however, challenged the govt's decision. TNN Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Eid wishes , messages , and quotes !
