Bollywood has names of actors and actresses who came from different backgrounds and tried their luck in cinema. While many succeeded, others failed. One such actress who started her career in Bollywood was Disha Patani. Disha, who was studying engineering in Lucknow, when she developed a keen interest in acting during her college days. Hence, she thought of moving to Mumbai.
When the actress came to Mumbai, she had only Rs 500. It became tough for her to survive in the expensive city. However, she never gave up. Finally, in 2015, she got her break. She started her acting journey with the Telugu film Loafer, which also starred Varun Tej. However, the movie did not do well at the box office.
Following Loafer's failure, Disha made headlines when she made her Bollywood debut with the film M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. Based on the life of ace cricketer Dhoni, Disha played the role of Priyanka Jha, who was the cricketer's first girlfriend.
Disha was paired opposite late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who reprised the role of Dhoni. Though Disha's screen time was limited, it made an impact on the audience. She was hailed for her performance and even became a national crush.
Two years later, in 2017, Disha Patani was seen in the Indo-Chinese film Kung Fu Yoga. This was an action-comedy film directed by Stanley Tong. Famous actor Jackie Chan was in the lead role in this film, and Disha was also a part of it.
The movie was well received and got massive love in the international market rather than in China. The film earned 99.9 percent of its earnings from the international market. The rest of the earnings came from China. It was considered a box office blockbuster.
According to Box Office Mojo, Kung Fu Yoga earned 3 lakh 62 thousand US dollars, i.e., 3 crores in Indian rupees, from China. Whereas from the international market, this film earned 257.380 million dollars, i.e., 2202 crores rupees. The total worldwide collection of the film was $257.743 million. In Indian rupees, this figure is Rs 2205 crore. This marked the highest earning of Disha Patani's career.

Renu was paid Rs 30000 for her portrayal of Surpanakha in Ramayan. Morever, she also received several work opportunities following the show's success. During the same interaction, she recalled, 'It got me roles in BR Chopra's teleseries Chunni, Surinder Singh's National Award-winning Punjabi film Marhi da Deewa and also Hema Malini's directorial debut Dil Aashna Hai, before I gave it all up for a career in politics.'
