Scottie Scheffler gets 'Scottie Style' burger at Hilton Head Island restaurant as RBC champ
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Another week, another burger for Scottie Scheffler.
A week ago, at the 89th Masters, Scheffler served sliders 'Scottie Style' as one of his starters at the Champions Dinner. As the defending champion of this week's RBC Heritage, Scheffler has designed a hamburger of his choosing that is being added to the menu of Fraser's Tavern at Sea Pines Resort. It's a new tradition, in only its second year, following after the custom-design burger crafted by 2023 RBC Heritage champ Matt Fitzpatrick.
'We thought it would be a fun way to connect each year's defending champion with our dining guests at Fraser's Tavern,' said Ben Harris, resort executive chef at the Sea Pines Resort. 'The Heritage Classic Foundation was excited about the concept and is very much behind it.'
According to a release from the resort, more than 4,400 'defending champion burgers' have been served as Fraser's Tavern since being added to the menu and the burger, which costs $19.95, includes a dollar donation to the tournament charity.
Scheffler went with the same blend of rib, brisket and chuck for the patty, a hearth-based sesame bun and crispy bacon 'but in a nod to his tangy Texas taste buds,' the release said, this version of 'Scottie Style' featured pepper jack cheese, fried jalapenos and onion straws, topped off with Old Bay aioli.
Scheffler was presented with his burger at the end of his pre-tournament press conference on Tuesday after he hit the 'Cannon Shot' drive as part of the tournament's opening ceremony. Scheffler took one look at his burger and said, 'I'm hungry.' He took a big bite and proceeded to gobble much of it up after finding it to his liking.
