Jason Momoa (A Minecraft Movie), Noah Centineo (Warfare), Andrew Koji (Bullet Train), and Roman Reigns (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) are in negotiations to star in Legendary's live-action Street Fighter movie, based on the Capcom video games.
In February, Bad Trip's Kitao Sakurai boarded as director, inheriting the project from Talk To Me's Danny & Michael Philippou, who attached themselves in April of 2023, following Legendary's acquisition of exclusive film and TV rights to the Street Fighter IP.
The film adaptation is being co-developed and co-produced alongside Capcom, the developer and publisher of the video games. No word has emerged yet on who has written and who specifically will produce the actioner.
Launched in 1987, Street Fighter is a series of fighting games revolving around intense one-on-one battles between a diverse cast of martial artists.
The games often center around a global fighting tournament organized by M. Bison, the leader of the evil organization Shadaloo.
Street Fighter has sold over 55 million units worldwide since its launch, making it one of the most well-known and highest-grossing video game franchises of all time.
Coming off of Warner Bros and Legendary's phenomenon "A Minecraft Movie", which is approaching $1B at the global box office, Momoa will next be seen starring in Apple's miniseries "Chief of War", out August 1, and Legendary's live action/animated road trip adventure "Animal Friends", out October 10. Other upcoming projects include "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" (where he plays Lobo), "Dune: Messiah" (where he reprises as Duncan Idaho), and action comedy "The Wrecking Crew" opposite Dave Bautista, to name just a few.
Most recently seen starring in A24's intensely immersive "Warfare", from Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza, as well as Netflix's spy series "The Recruit".
A pro wrestler born Leati Joseph Anoa'i with one of the longest world title reigns in the history of the WWE, Reigns has previously made appearances in films like "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw" and "The Wrong Missy".
Known for roles on the series "Warrior" and "Gangs of London", as well as films like "Bullet Train" and "Boy Kills World", Koji will next be seen starring in the Tubi Original "Worth the Wait" and Prime Video heist series "Haven", among other projects.

Michael Bay Exits Will Smith Netflix Action Movie "Fast and Loose"

Yara Sameh Netflix is back to searching for a director for "Fast and Loose," after Michael Bay and Will Smith were unable to bridge creative differences and Bay exited the project. "Fast and Loose" stars Smith as a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories. As he pieces together his past, he learns he's been living two lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent. The script was written by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner, and Eric Pearson. The film has action as well as comic moments, but Bay wanted more emphasis on the former while Smith wanted to lean into the latter. They are looking to shoot in October, and Netflix will lock in a new filmmaker to keep things on track. Bay has plenty else to do. He is discussing with Paramount a return to the Transformers fold with a new version of that tentpole, and he's also percolating at Universal OutRun, an adaptation of the video game that is a star vehicle for Sydney Sweeney. Jayson Rothwell is scripting with Bay and Brad Fuller producing with Sweeney. A reunion between Bay and Smith was significant because their stars launched together with 1995's "Bad Boys." That film was Bay's film directing debut, and it was the vehicle that provided the first glimpse of how well Smith would fare as a charismatic action star. "Fast and Loose" is being produced by Smith's Westbrook Studios and Kelly McCormick and David Leitch for 87North. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Dave Bautista to Play Villain in "Highlander" Remake

Yara Sameh Dave Bautista is in final talks to play the villain in Amazon MGM's remake of the 1980s cult classic "Highlander". He will join Henry Cavill and Russell Crowe in the action fantasy, which hails from Amazon MGM's United Artists banner. Chad Stahelski is directing the feature that is due to begin principal photography at the end of September and shoot in the UK and Hong Kong. The original Highlander, released in 1986, starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, a Medieval Scottish Highlander who discovers he is an immortal warrior. With the help of a swordsman named Ramirez, played by Sean Connery, the titular Highlander battles other immortals across the centuries, culminating in a modern battle in which, like the classic line of dialogue goes, 'there can be only one.' The movie went back and forth from various time. In the remake, Cavill is playing MacLeod while Crowe is Ramirez. Industry actress Marisa Abela also has a leading part. Bautista will have the plum role of the immortal barbarian known as The Kurgen, who has been killing other immortals across the centuries in order to absorb their essence. Clancy Brown memorably played the character in the original movie. Bautista's imminent boarding is both a full circle moment and a fancast materializing IRL. Bautista was circling Kurgen back in 2015 when a version was being put together under the direction of Cedric Nicolas-Troyan for Summit Entertainment. In recent months, fans have shipped Cavill and Bautista as opposing immortal warriors in fan-made trailers (look, we'll to link to one, but it's just bad.) Michael Finch wrote the script for the remake. Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt are producing alongside Neal H. Moritz, Stahelski's 87Eleven Entertainment, Josh Davis of Davis Panzer Productions, and Louise Rosner. Bautista has been making Amazon one of his prime destinations, with Highlander just the latest feature project for the streamer. He has starred in Amazon action comedies "My Spy" and its sequel and is in post on action comedy "The Wrecking Crew", opposite Jason Momoa. He is also in talks to star in Amazon's sequel to "The Roadhouse." read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
