Decapitation! Loincloths! Bizarre unsettling puppetry! Magical sky-babies! 'Deadhead' by Canadian quintet Foxwarren has all of that and more, in this highest-fantasy adventure that will take you way, way beyond the most uncanny of valleys.
Born from the brain of renowned animator and director Joe Cappa (who has made original work for Adult Swim, Toro y Moi, Judd Apatow, Giphy and more), the clip for 'Deadhead' blends Joe's signature surrealist style with Foxwarren's indie-folk sensibilities.'I've been a long-time fan of Andy Shauf and Foxwarren so I was honoured to make something for them' says Joe. 'If I had it my way the video would be about a bunch of golfers in their mid 30s doing celebratory dances after sinking putts, but I was trying to keep it within the aesthetic of the album which was a little more rustic and nature-y. I'm happy with the end result.'
'I bought a bunch of wigs and medieval costumes and sort of came up with the premise of the video as I was dressing the puppets. When I put the blonde wig and mustache on the main character it really spoke to me. Those legs on the flute playing baby are my 10 month old son's.'
Foxwarren's Andy Shauf says that this music video is 'definitely the first time I've been brought to tears by a music video for my own song', which is high praise given that Shauf is a rage favourite specifically for the ambitiously weird (in the good way), usually animated music videos that have always accompanied his solo work.
The fantastical clip serves as a final preview for Foxwarren's new album, 2, and was created in the bands' own home studios across four Canadian provinces with band members Shauf, Avery and Darryl Kissick, Dallas Bryson, and Colin Nealis all collabing on shared song ideas, melodic phrases, and rhythmic bits in an online shared folder. Never let anyone tell you that WFH doesn't produce results.
A parting message from Foxwarren, to intrepid travellers: 'To all the deadheads, we say 'don't stop dancing.''

Thousands evacuate wildfires burning across central Canada
About 17,000 residents have been evacuated as nearly two dozen wildfires rip through the Canadian province of Manitoba, officials say. More than 5,000 of those residents are from the mining city Flin Flon, on the Manitoba/Saskatchewan border, where there is no rain in the immediate forecast. There had been no fires in the mining city 650 kilometres north of the Manitoba capital of Winnipeg as of Saturday morning, but officials worried a change in wind direction could bring the fire to town. Manitoba declared a state of emergency on Wednesday as the fires burning from the north-west to the south-east forced evacuations in several communities. Thousands have also been affected by wildfires in Saskatchewan and Alberta, with 1,300 people in the community of Swan Hills north-west of Edmonton forced from their homes. Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe told a news conference on Saturday that ongoing hot, dry weather is allowing some fires to grow and threaten communities, and that the current figure of 8,000 fire evacuees in the province could climb to 10,000. Resources to fight the fires and support the evacuees are stretched thin, the premier said. Evacuation centres have opened across the province for those fleeing the fires, including one just 20 kilometres from the US border. The fire menacing Flin Flon began on Monday in Saskatchewan, and quickly jumped the boundary into Manitoba. Crews have struggled to contain it, with water bombers forced to intermittently ground due to heavy smoke and a drone incursion. Smoke from the fire is being pushed south to some parts of the US, worsening air quality. Through parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin, the air quality is deemed unhealthy for people and animals. The US Department of Agriculture's Forest Service said it had deployed an air tanker to Alberta, and the US was sending 150 firefighters to Canada. "We are here to help our neighbours during their time of need, and our Forest Service Wildland Firefighters are the best in the business. I am thankful for the men and women who are bravely stepping up to serve, " US Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L Rollins said in a statement. TV star Valerie Mahaffey dead at 71: Emmy-winner also appeared in ‘ER,' ‘Seinfeld,' ‘Young Sheldon'
Valerie Mahaffey, the Emmy-winning actor best known for her roles in 'Northern Exposure,' 'Big Sky' and 'Young Sheldon,' has died at 71. Mahaffey died Friday following a short battle with cancer, her husband, Joseph Kell, said in a statement. 'I have lost the love of my life, and America has lost one of its most endearing actors,' he heartbreakingly wrote, The NY Post reports. 'She will be missed.' Mahaffey, who was born in Indonesia to a Canadian mother and an American father, got her Hollywood break in the late 1970s with a role on the hit TV soap 'The Doctors.'She subsequently appeared in episodes of 'Newhart,' 'Cheers' and 'Seinfeld,' before joining the cast of 'Northern Exposure' in 1991. The small-screen star won an Emmy for her role as Eve in the whimsical CBS dramedy, which ran for six seasons. Mahaffey went on to appear in some of the biggest TV shows of the 1990s and 2000s, including 'ER,' 'Ally McBeal,' 'Frasier,' 'The West Wing' and 'CSI.' She also played Alma Hodge in nine episodes of 'Desperate Housewives.' The industrious actor continued her impressive body of work into the 2010s, with roles in 'Glee,' 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'The Man In The High Castle.' Mahaffey later joined the cast of 'Young Sheldon,' playing Mrs MacElroy from 2017 – 2020. She also had a lead role on the first season of David E. Kelley's crime drama 'Big Sky.' In addition to her small-screen roles, Mahaffey also starred in several films, including 2016's 'Sully,' in which she appeared opposite Tom Hanks.

Actor Florence Pugh pours pints at London pub with singer Yungblud
Marvel star Florence Pugh has made a surprise appearance at a London pub where she poured pints alongside singer Yungblud. The 29-year-old appeared at The Devonshire in Piccadilly on Friday, where she was seen working behind the bar and chatting with customers, after starring in a music video for the singer's Zombie single. Pugh was cheered after pouring a perfect pint of Guinness before asking 'whose is this?', and later remarking 'I'm sorry' after pouring a less impressive drink.
