Matt Pinfield Comes Out of a Coma After Suffering Massive Stroke: 'Guys, I'm Alive'

Former MTV host Matt Pinfield has come out a coma after suffering a massive stroke back in January. The music personality shared the great news with The Hollywood Reporter, declaring, 'Guys, I'm alive!'
Pinfield, who hosted MTV's influential alternative-rock program 120 Minutes in the 1990s and again during a revival in the early 2010s, had been in a coma for roughly two months. He has now been released from the ICU, and is currently rehabilitating at a facility in Los Angeles.
'I'm recovering and am going to come back swinging. I was unresponsive for two months,' he further told The Hollywood Reporter. 'Friends were thinking they were coming to see me for the last time. The doctors never expected me to speak or to walk again.'
As Pinfield mentioned, there was a prevailing thought that he would not survive, as he also battled pneumonia and was put on a ventilator during the ordeal. When he woke from the coma, he immediately started talking music.
'My friends said I went on talking about 'A Whiter Shade of Pale' and how they couldn't keep up with what I was saying,' he said. 'They were, like, 'Yeah, he's still got that brain.''
Pinfield is itching to get back to work, once he makes a full recovery. He hosts a couple of programs on Los Angeles radio stations, and is the co-host of the AXS TV show The Power Hour.
'I'm definitely going to take some time to recover,' remarked Pinfield. 'Then I'll do my radio shows again and get back to work doing what I love, which is to entertain people playing music.'
While he was in a coma, his daughter Jessica filed for temporary conservatorship over her father, requesting that she handle his health and finances amid concerns that others may take advantage of the situation. 'She's the one who saved my life,' said Pinfield. 'She protected me.'
Pinfield also expressed gratitude to all the musicians and peers who supported him while he was in the ICU. 'I want to say how great grateful I am for all the people that that were wishing me well,' he said. 'The love of the community helped me get through this.'
Among the people who supported Pinfield was Garbage singer Shirley Manson, who wrote on social media, 'He has championed so many artists over the decades who would have otherwise been ignored by mainstream media and the American music scene would be very different indeed without his taste and influence.'

American tennis sensation Coco Gauff and Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz won the titles at Roland-Garros over the weekend. Advertisement Gauff beat Aryna Sabalenka in the women's singles final on Saturday, though she needed all three sets to defeat the World No. 1, 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4. Meanwhile, Alcaraz took down Jannik Sinner in a thrilling Sunday finale that went to five sets (4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6) and lasted five hours and 29 minutes — making it the longest French Open final ever. Following their wins, the French Open announced on Monday that the 2025 iteration of the Grand Slam tournament made history. Apparently, a total of 685,000 people came to watch the competition in Paris, setting a new attendance record at Roland-Garros. "Record numbers on and off the court," the French Open Instagram account posted. "Roland-Garros 2025 sets new attendance highs to headline our Stat of the Day by @infosys." Ginny And Georgia Star Reflects On That Season 3 Cliffhanger Ending
Ginny & Georgia star Brianne Howey has lifted the lid on the show's latest cliffhanger ending. Brianne plays Georgia Miller in all three seasons of the hit Netflix comedy-drama, which is currently the most-watched show on the platform after its latest batch of episodes dropped last week. Those who've already followed the ups and downs of season three will know it ends on a cliffhanger, with Georgia discovering that she's expecting another baby (having already faked a pregnancy earlier on in the series), without knowing who the father is. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Brianne admitted she was 'excited' – albeit 'pretty shocked' – when she found out who things would end up for her character. 'I should have seen it coming,' she claimed. 'Georgia has that whole monologue about milk, and I was like, 'Sarah [Lampert, creator], why are we talking about milk so much?'. And she goes, 'You'll see, you'll see'.' She added: 'I love the cliffhanger. I think it's a fantastic ending, the irony based off Georgia having her false pregnancy, the tangled web she's going to weave, and now having to tell both partners she's been intimate with this season, not to mention having to tell her children.' For the avoidance of doubt, Sarah Lampert has already confirmed to Netflix that Georgia is pregnant, but refused to be drawn on who the father of her unborn child actually is. She quipped: '[This season,] Ginny gets pregnant, Georgia fakes a pregnancy, and then Georgia really gets pregnant, and we don't know who the dad is. And when you say these things out loud, you're like, 'What in the world is this show?!'.' On the paternity drama involving her character, Brianne also told Netflix: 'Seeing the way things ended [between Georgia and Paul], seeing all of our true colours, and what we brought out of one another, I think the healthiest option for everyone was probably for that relationship to dissolve. And perhaps someone new is about to be a dad.' Raymond Ablack, who plays Joe in the series, added that he would 'die of a broken heart', if it turned out that Paul is the father of Ginny's child. Meanwhile, for those already keeping their fingers crossed for more Ginny & Georgia down the line, we've got some news we think you're going to like… These Are Our 9 Top Picks Of The New Shows And Films To Stream On Netflix In June 2025 Thought The Stars Of Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Looked Familiar? Scarlett Johansson debuts a dramatic curly bob haircut and looks just like Princess Diana
Scarlett Johansson has tried just about every hairstyle in the beauty handbook, from her blonde Barbie waves to punky pixie cuts circa 2010, but that doesn't take away from her latest transformation, which still had us doing a double-take. Jaws = on the floor. Earlier this week [June 9], the 40-year-old actor was spotted alongside Miles Teller on the streets of New York City, filming scenes for their upcoming movie Paper Tiger. The American crime drama, directed by James Gray, is set in the 1980s and so, for her role, Scarlett has undergone a very retro hair makeover. Her long caramel curls are no more, and instead, she's rocking a bouffant curly bob. For reference, here's a look at her trademark style pre-bob: And below, her current 'do for her new movie role: Paired with the muted tonal outfit and wash of fuchsia makeup, we'd say it's quite the transformation. And one that's reminiscent of Princess Diana. Two iconic Queens, TBH. Now, while we do love an unrecognisable celebrity hair transformation (Nicole Kidman, I'm looking @ you), we must acknowledge that this is, most probably, a wig. After all, actors do have a history of using wigs for various movie roles, so are we all that surprised? (Spoiler: The answer is no, no we're not.) Alas, whether it's a bouffant bob or dramatic pixie, Scarlett has – and will – continue to push the boundaries of style for a role, proving she's a true chameleon in the world of fashion, beauty and cinema.
