Tejashwi Yadav slams Nitish Kumar over Muzaffarpur minor girl's rape
Patna: Bihar Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his government on Monday over the Muzaffarpur rape case and medical negligence at PMCH that led to the death of a 10-year-old Dalit girl.
Speaking to the media, Yadav said, 'Whether it's law and order, healthcare, education, or employment, this double-engine government has failed completely. The Chief Minister has never expressed regret on any such issue. I doubt if he even knows about this brutal rape case.'
Yadav strongly criticised the Chief Minister and his two deputies for allegedly being preoccupied with political events and election preparations, saying they were ignoring public grievances and justice.
'Criminals are dominant in Bihar. Bullets are being fired near the Secretariat and even outside the Chief Minister's residence. There is no law and order left in Bihar,' Yadav added, pointing to recent violent crimes across the state.
On the victim's death, Yadav claimed the child was left in an ambulance for over four hours without treatment at PMCH, which he described as an inexcusable administrative failure.
'No one from the government met the victim's family. This shows the insensitivity of the ruling alliance,' he said.
When asked about his brother Tej Pratap Yadav's controversy and comments involving the term 'Jaichand,' Tejashwi said the matter has been handled by RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav, and he would not comment on personal issues.
On Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's statement criticising the NDA's focus on optics over substance, Yadav said, 'He has only spoken the truth. Airports are being inaugurated, PM Modi did the road show, but martyr families are being ignored. Crimes against children are happening, yet no one in the government speaks out about it.'

'The incident of gang rape and the subsequent attempted murder of a nine-year-old Dalit girl in Muzaffarpur's Kudhni area on 26 May has shaken the entire state. This horrific crime is not only the brutal killing of an innocent life but also highlights a deep breakdown in law and order, social consciousness, and the public health system of Bihar,' he added. The victim succumbed to her injuries at the PMCH on 1 June. Paswan alleged that she had to wait for over six hours in the ambulance before being admitted, severely affecting her chances of survival. This isn't the first time Paswan has positioned himself in opposition to Kumar. In the 2020 assembly elections, the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP)—before the split between Chirag Paswan and his uncle Pashupati Paras—had contested solo, despite being part of the NDA at the Centre. The party won just one of the 137 seats it contested, but inflicted significant damage on JD(U), which saw its tally drop to 43 from 71 in 2015. LJP's 5.7 percent vote share reportedly affected JD(U)'s fortunes in at least 28 constituencies. 'Nitish Kumar ji was once synonymous with good governance—that situation has changed drastically. Chirag Paswan is only reflecting the reality on the ground. Issues of lawlessness and crumbling healthcare must be urgently addressed ahead of the elections,' said a senior LJP (Ram Vilas) leader. He has also called for a high-level judicial inquiry into the conduct of the PMCH hospital staff, demanding that 'criminal charges be filed against those who deliberately delayed treatment' and that 'immediate suspension and departmental action' follow. Representatives of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) have visited the victim's family and assured them of 'every possible effort to ensure justice.' CM hands over job letters to differently abled candidates
Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav on Wednesday distributed appointment letters to specially-abled candidates at a function held at Khushiram Sharma Ayurveda College auditorium, reaffirming his govt's commitment to supporting persons with disabilities. This self-confidence gives them a special identity. The Government of Madhya Pradesh is committed to encouraging and supporting them at every level. Social justice minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha said on the occasion that 'Divyangjans' are being given benefits like education-training, skill enhancement, scholarships, etc. While a 4 per cent reservation for 'Divyangjans' is provided throughout the country, chief minister Yadav has provided 6 percent reservation to them in government jobs. Food dept cracks down on meat shops in Ghaziabad
Ghaziabad: Food safety department has launched a crackdown on illegal slaughtering, poor hygiene and unregistered food business operators (FBOs) in Ghaziabad. This led to closure notices, seizure of equipment and penalties under the Food Safety and Standards Act on Wednesday. During an inspection at Halal Chicken Shop in Shastri Nagar, chicken slaughtering was found to be taking place despite the outlet having no registration for a slaughterhouse, assistant commissioner of food (Grade II), Ghaziabad, Dr Arvind Yadav told TOI. "The FBO had a registration for a meat shop but not for slaughtering. As a preventive measure, the slaughtering equipment was seized while he was allowed to continue the shop and sale of meat. A penalty was imposed on him as per provisions of the Food Safety Act," Dr Yadav said. In Indirapuram's Kanawani Pulia area, a meat shop, run by Guddu Qureshi, was found operating without any food registration. Legal proceedings under Section 58 of the Act were initiated and the shop was shut down immediately. Another meat shop in the area, Pappu Mutton Shop, was issued a notice for violating registration conditions. Officials said its licence may be suspended if hygiene issues are not resolved within the given timeline. At Windsor Street Market in Indirapuram, Lucknow Wale Kababi Non-Veg Restaurant was pulled up for displaying roasted meat in the open and poor cleanliness, Yadav said.
