Perhaps Tatum's true value will be on full display next season as he rehabs a ruptured Achilles. The Duke alum could miss the entire 2025-26 campaign, putting the Celtics' championship aspirations in serious jeopardy.
But even as he rests, basketball pundits are still trying to rank Tatum. In fact, Bleacher Report just listed him as the 93rd-best player in NBA history, placing him behind arguably less accomplished players like Chris Webber and Jimmy Butler.
On a recent episode of NESN's 'Hold My Banner,' hosts Adam Pellerin and Ountae Campbell debated Tatum's standing on the extensive Bleacher Report list, going as far as calling the rankings 'blasphemous.'

Blue Jays send Tigers to 10th loss in 11 games with 11-4 victory, take top record in AL
At the MLB All-Star break, the Detroit Tigers had the best record in baseball at 59-38. That was despite losing four consecutive games. Yet the Tigers have kept losing since the 2025 season resumed, taking the defeat in six of seven games after being battered 11-4 by the Toronto Blue Jays in their first home game since MLB's midseason hiatus. Losing 10 of its past 11 games, Detroit now has the third-best record in the American League at 60-44. Toronto has the league's best mark 61-42, a half game ahead of the 60-42 Houston Astros. The Tigers have the sixth-best record in MLB with both the Milwaukee Brewers (61-41) and Los Angeles Dodgers 60-43) ahead of them, as well. The Blue Jays sent Detroit reeling with a five-run sixth inning, kicked off with an RBI double by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to tie the score at 1-1. After Tigers starter Reese Olson got Bo Bichette to ground out, he intentionally walked Addison Barger to face Ernie Clement. Clement blew that strategy up with a three-run homer on a hanging slider from Reese in the middle of the strike zone. Joey Loperfido followed with a solo home run off a changeup low and inside to give Toronto a 6-1 lead. Olson then hit Tyler Heineman and was pulled from the game in favor of Dietrich Enns. Enns finished off the sixth inning, but had his own difficulties in the seventh. Nathan Lukes led off the frame with a double and was driven in on a one-out single from Guerrero. Bichette followed with a single and came home on a two-run triple by Barger. Clement then made it a 9-1 game by driving in Barger with a sacrifice fly. Olson finished with five runs allowed on six hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings. Enns gave up four runs and four hits in 1 1/3 innings. Geoff Hartlieb followed with two runs allowed, serving a two-run homer to Lukes in the eighth inning. Only catcher Jake Rogers, a position player giving the Tigers' bullpen a break, left unscathed, throwing a scoreless ninth. Every Blue Jays starting batter got a hit on Thursday, led by Guerrero hitting 3-for-5 with two RBI. Lukes, Clement, Loperfido and Will Wagner each got two hits. Meanwhile, Eric Lauer provided strong pitching, allowing one run and five hits over eight innings with six strikeouts. Chad Green allowed three runs in the ninth inning, including a homer by Spencer Torkelson, but the Toronto lead was too big for that to matter. Keider Montero (4-2, 4.28 ERA) gets the start for the Tigers on Friday, while José Berríos (6-4, 3.87) goes for the Blue Jays.

When you win a ring, you get an entire summer to run victory laps. While Jalen Williams recovers from wrist surgery, he took to social media to remind folks what he went through. He battled through a torn wrist ligament during the Thunder's playoff run. Williams' postseason journey was highlighted by a 40-point explosion in Game 5 of the 2025 NBA Finals. All without making a peep about the painful injury that required numb shots every pregame. He only talked about after Sam Presti announced the upcoming surgery that'll knock him out until near training camp. Williams posted a side-by-side photo of himself with Kobe Bryant. Both players wore pajamas at the free-throw line with one hand on the ball. The other hand had a wrist wrap around it. The latter's photo was at a 1999 practice when he learned to shoot with one hand after he sustained a hand fracture. Williams has never been shy about his super fandom of Bryant. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar was a generation's favorite player. The 24-year-old was around the age range to see his last best years, so it shouldn't be a shocker to see him have such an influence on the All-NBA player. Now, Williams and Bryant both share something else in common — An NBA championship.

Derek Fisher is joining the new broadcast team for the NBA on NBC
This coming season, the NBA will return to NBC after a 23-year hiatus. That means that fans will get to hear that timeless "Roundball Rock" theme song on a regular basis throughout the season. No, Marv Albert and Bob Costas will not be handling broadcasts as they did in the 1990s and early 2000s. But NBC has assembled a solid cast of play-by-play announcers, color commentators and analysts. On Thursday, the network announced that it has added several more talented individuals who are former NBA players to that cast. One of them is Derek Fisher, a guard who won five NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers alongside the late great Kobe Bryant. Fisher, like Bryant, was a member of that famed 1996 draft class. It took him a little while, but he became a key role player for the Purple and Gold as they won the first three world titles of the 21st century. After two seasons with the Golden State Warriors and one with the Utah Jazz, he returned to the Lakers in 2007 and earned two more rings in 2009 and 2010. Fans remember him for hitting key 3-pointers, especially in the playoffs, and for his grittiness and leadership.
