Ensure timely completion of 5,000 MW solar agri-feeder scheme by Sep 2025: Fadnavis

as his "dream project", and said its success will significantly contribute to
energy sustainability
and rural empowerment.
He directed the agencies to expedite the implementation of the '
Mukhyamantri Solar Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0
', and ensure the state achieves its target of 5,000 MW
solar power generation
by September 2025.
Speaking at a high-level review meeting, Fadnavis said, "This is my dream project. There should be no delays at any level. Time-bound and well-coordinated execution is critical." The meeting was convened to review land availability and other related issues in the scheme, a statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said.
Stressing the need for close coordination between local bodies and developers for the smooth implementation of solar feeder projects on both government and private land, the chief minister said the district-level task forces must regularly monitor the progress of the project and remove bottlenecks.
No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and clearances must be issued promptly. Issues faced by developers should be resolved on priority to avoid delays, he asked the officials.
Work related to land leasing, removal of crop and permanent encroachments, road realignment, and land demarcation must be done promptly by the district collectors. Police must act swiftly in cases of theft of solar equipment. Adequate precautions must be taken while working in densely-populated areas and during tree cutting, following all environmental guidelines, he said.
The forest department should expedite necessary permissions for solar lines passing through forest land and adjacent areas, he said. PTI

Modi said on social media that he had a 'good conversation' with Lula, whom he met on the margins of the Brics Summit in Rio de Janeiro last month. 'We are committed to deepening our Strategic Partnership including in trade, energy, tech, defence, health and more. A strong, people-centric partnership between Global South nations benefits everyone,' he said. A readout from the Indian side said Lula initiated the phone call, and Modi recalled that the two leaders had agreed at their recent meeting on a framework to strengthen cooperation in key sectors such as trade, defence, agriculture and people-to-people ties. 'Building on these discussions, they reiterated their commitment to take the India-Brazil Strategic Partnership to new heights,' the readout said. The two leaders also discussed various regional and global issues. Lula said in a lengthy social media post that the hour-long phone conversation focused on the international economic scenario and the 'imposition of unilateral tariffs'. He added, 'Brazil and India are, so far, the two most affected countries. We reaffirmed the importance of defending multilateralism and the need to address the challenges of the current situation, as well as to explore possibilities for greater integration between the two countries.' In this context, Lula confirmed he would make a state visit to India early next year. Brazil's vice-president, Geraldo Alckmin will travel to India in October as part of preparations for the visit and to participate in a meeting of a trade monitoring mechanism. Alckmin's delegation will include Brazilian ministers and businesspeople to discuss cooperation in trade, defence, energy, critical minerals, health, and digital inclusion, he said. Lula said he and Modi also discussed the goal of increasing India-Brazil trade to more than $20 billion by 2030. 'To this end, we agreed to expand the scope of the agreement between MERCOSUR and India. We exchanged information about the virtual payment platforms of our two countries, [Brazil's] PIX and India's UPI,' he said. The two sides also spoke about working together for the transition of the Brics presidency from Brazil to India, he said. On Tuesday, Lula turned down Trump's offer to call him to discuss the issue of tariffs and Brazil will resort to all possible measures to protect its interests, including approaching the WTO and taking action to strengthen foreign trade. He added, 'I will call [Chinese President] Xi Jinping, I will call Prime Minister Modi…I will call many presidents.' Lula also told Reuters on Wednesday that he saw no room for talks with Trump as he didn't wish to be humiliated. However, Brazil will not announce reciprocal tariffs and will continue official talks with the US, he said. 'The day my intuition says Trump is ready to talk, I won't hesitate to call him,' he said. 'But today my intuition says he doesn't want to talk. And I won't humiliate myself.' Like Brazil, India too hasn't announced reciprocal tariffs. However, the external affairs ministry on Wednesday described the additional 25% tariff imposed by Trump as 'unjustified and unreasonable' and said India will take 'all actions necessary to protect its national interests'.

After the increase, India will face the highest tariff rate among its competitors in the US market—equal to Brazil at 50%. Others like Myanmar, Thailand, and China face significantly lower duties. Key Indian export sectors likely to be impacted include textiles, gems and jewellery, shrimps, leather, steel, copper, aluminium, and machinery. While vehicles will be taxed at 26%, petroleum products will attract a 6.9% duty. Pharmaceuticals, critical minerals, crude oil, refined fuels, and semiconductors are among the exempted categories. The move could severely hit Indian exporters. According to the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), the new tariffs will impact nearly 55% of India's exports to the US. 'It is extremely shocking,' said FIEO DG Ajay Sahai, as quoted by PTI. The tariff hike also comes ahead of the sixth round of negotiations for the India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), scheduled to begin on August 25. The US is pressing India for concessions on goods like EVs, wines, dairy items, and genetically modified crops. Kerala govt to hold global Ayyappa devotees meet at Sabarimala in September
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 7 (PTI) The Kerala government is going to hold a global Ayyappa devotees meet at Sabarimala in September, state Devasom Minister V N Vasavan said on Thursday. The one-day meet, being held for the first time in Kerala, will be jointly organised with the Travancore Devaswom Board in the third week of September, between 16 to 21, the minister said at a press meet here. Ayyappa devotees from all over the world and various states of the country will be brought together on one platform at the meet which is being organised as part of the 75th anniversary of the Board, he said. The devotees' meet to be held in Pampa is being organised with the aim of spreading the message of universal humanity called 'Tatvamasi' throughout the world and 'presenting Sabarimala to the world as a divine, traditional and sustainable global pilgrimage center", the minister said. Around 3,000 delegates are expected to take part in the meet which will be the beginning of larger similar gatherings in future, he said. Vasavan said that arrangements will be made in such a manner that devotees will arrive a day before the event and have darshan at the Lord Ayyappa shrine before taking part in the meet. A German pavilion similar to the one used during the annual pilgrimage season at the shrine will be constructed in Pampa to provide seating for 3,000 people, he said.
