England greats don't want RCB to IPL 2025 title: ‘He's going to be doubly unbearable'; here's the whole story

Former England cricketers Michael Atherton and Naseer Hussain passed a teasing remark on Dinesh Karthik, stating the latter will be 'doubly unbearable' in Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) go on to win their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) in two day's time. RCB are just one win away from their maiden IPL title after the Rajat Patidar-led side demolished Punjab Kings by eight wickets in Qualifier 1. RCB have reached an IPL final thrice before, losing on all occasions. Following his retirement from international cricket, Karthik has been working as a cricket pundit on multiple platforms in India and overseas. During his time as cricket pundit, Karthik has shared the same commentary box alongside Atherton and Hussain and has share a great camaraderie among the three. The former wicketkeeper-batter retired from IPL in 2024 before being roped in as a mentor by RCB for the 2025 season. "RCB have got through to the finals. If they win that, DK is going to be unbearable. One season as coach/mentor and he's won it," Hussain said in a teasing manner during a Sky Sports Podcast with Atherton. In RCB go on to win the title, Karthik will etch his name in history books of winning an IPL trophy in his first year of being a support staff. Atherton echoed Hussain. 'He's unbearable at the best of times, he's going to be doubly unbearable. He'll be like John Terry, at the front of the RCB trophy presentation holding it there with Virat Kohli,' Atherton added. One of the most knowledgeable individuals in the Indian cricket, Karthik has been a voice on and off the field too. Starting from the mega auction to RCB's entire IPL 2025 campaign, Karthik played a huge part in changing the franchise's fortunes in the past one year. On June 3 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi stadium, RCB will face either Mumbai Indians or Punjab Kings in the final. Mumbai Indians have defeated Gujarat Titans in Eliminator to set a date with Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 on Sunday. Stay updated on all the action from the IPL 2025. PBKS vs MI, IPL 2025 Qualifier 2: What happens if the Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians match gets washed out?

Punjab Kings face Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. Here's what happens if the match gets washed out. read more While the IPL Governing Council has granted an extra two hours for the playoffs to deal with rain delays, a 'Reserve Day' has been allotted only for the final. AP The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is on the verge of arriving at its conclusion, with just two more games to go. Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians face off in the first of those two games, in Qualifier 2 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, with the winner of that game then scheduled to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final two days later. Will rain affect Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad? While Ahmedabad has witnessed showers in the build-up to Sunday's Qualifier 2 between PBKS and MI, the match isn't expected to witness much interruption with a 9 per cent chance of rain predicted for the evening, as per the forecast on Accuweather. Which means that while there could be interruptions during the game, it isn't likely to hold play up long enough to lead to reduction of overs. What happens if the PBKS-MI showdown is washed out? The IPL Governing Council has allotted up to two hours for the completion of a game in the playoffs if rain does havoc. However, in the event that rain absolutely refuses to relent and ends up washing the game out, then that will mark a heartbreaking end to Mumbai Indians' campaign and their quest for a sixth IPL title. Since there isn't a reserve day for any game other than the final, the upcoming match will be deemed over once it crosses its final cut-off time – which includes the special two-hour extension granted exclusively for playoff games to combat rain delays. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD And if the match does end in a washout, the team that had finished higher on the points table at the end of the league phase advances, as per IPL rules. PBKS had finished on top of the table with 19 points while MI had finished fourth, and Shreyas Iyer's men will thus be rewarded for being the more consistent of the two teams in the league stage.
