Jessie J vows to 'beat' breast cancer at final show before surgery
Jessie J vowed to "beat" breast cancer in an emotional speech at her final show before she undergoes surgery.
The 37-year-old pop star went public with her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this month revealing she is battling an "early" form of the disease and is scheduled to have an operation later in the year - and she used her performance at Capital's Summertime Ball with Barclaycard at London's Wembley Stadium on Sunday night (15.06.25) to tell fans she's planning to overcome her health issues.
She told the audience: "I've always been an open book. Today, this show is my last show before I go to beat breast cancer.
"So it's so special to me you have no idea. I feel so proud to be from the UK, to be an honest person and say how you feel.
"This is my last show before go treatment and all the things It's the most special thing and I'm so grateful for this life, for you guys, for my career, to my, my son. My partner, my parents.
"My family, my band, my crew. We are so lucky, we have so much to live for, so much joy ... There is so much to do."
She wen ton to introduce her track Living My Best Life, saying: "This song is the soundtrack for myself.
"This is hands down one of the favourite songs I have written and it's called Living My Best Life. It should have been called living my breast life ...
"Let's put some good energy in this place because I know I'm not the only one going through something right now."
Jessie - who is mother to two-year-old son Sky with basketball star Chanan Colman - previously revealed she was given the diagnosis prior to the release of her single, No Secrets on April 25 and she has been "in and out of tests" since.
She said in an Instagram video: "Before No Secrets came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I'm highlighting the word 'early'.
"Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding onto the word early. I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period ...
"To get diagnosed with this, as I'm putting out a song called 'No Secrets' right before a song called Living My Best Life, which was all pre-planned before I found out about this, I mean you can't make it up.
Jessie went on to reveal she plans to "disappear for a bit" after her performance at the Capital Summertime Ball.
She said: "It wasn't something I'd planned, but yeah. I'm getting to keep my nipples, that's good. It's a weird topic and a weird situation.
"I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive t*ts and more music."
The Price Tag hitmaker joked: "It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job."

'Music is what keeps me alive...' Capital's Summertime Ball performer Rita Ora says singing is something she has to do
Rita Ora says music keeps her "alive" and is one of the most important things in her life. Although Rita's career has gone in different directions, including appearing on TV talent shows like The Masked Singer, recording songs is in her "blood" and she needs music in her life every day. Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at Capital's Summertime Ball with Barclaycard at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday (15.06.25), she said: "Music is what keeps me alive, to be honest. I wake up listening to music; it runs in my blood. I think we all secretly need music in so many different ways." The Hot Right Now hitmaker's natural creativity is what motivates her in life. Rita - who performed some of her much-loved tracks, including Praising You and her new single Heat, at the Summertime Ball - said: "I love working and being creative, and it keeps my blood flowing. "If I get excited, I love it - fashion, movies, music. I just need to have that excitement." Rita and Will Smith - who both performed at Wembley Stadium on Sunday (15.06.25) - are "great friends", and she is thankful for his support over the years. The pop star - who recently told ITN she feels "inspired" by his "sense of filmmaking" - said: "Will and I have crossed paths many times over the years, and we are great friends. "He's a supporter of mine and has helped me in a lot of ways." Rita is married to award winning filmmaker-and-actor Taika Waititi and she admits she would love to work with him on a project in the future. The For You singer - who tied the knot with Taika in August 2022 - said: "It's about the project. Of course, he's my husband, and I want him to win at all costs, and it just needs to feel right, and it needs to be right. "We're going to be supporting each other regardless." And Rita says she and Taika, 49, are always inspiring each other and are always "full of ideas" as creatives. Speaking to E! in September 2024, Rita said: "We inspire each other. "With me coming from music and him being a writer, a director and a filmmaker, it's a house full of ideas. We're both fire signs, too. So it's just fire, fire, fire. "We help each other out, always."

Famous faces take to streets as No Kings protests attract thousands across US
The mass "No Kings" demonstrations held across the US to protest US President Donald Trump and his military parade attracted some very famous faces. Over 2000 protests took place in 50 different US states to rail against "authoritarianism, billionaire-first politics, and the militarisation of our democracy" under Trump, according to organisers. Marchers took to the streets at the same time a military parade rolled through Washington, DC, to mark the 250th anniversary of the US Army, which also happened to be Trump's 79th birthday. Among those who joined the protest in Los Angeles was talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel took to Instagram to praise the "peaceful" demonstration he attended in South Bay, a south-west region of LA. "A huge, inspiring and yes – peaceful – turnout in the South Bay. I met many people who love this country and still believe it to be a force for good," Kimmel, who wore a "Make America Good Again!" shirt, posted on Instagram. "I am grateful to see so many Americans take action to stand up for our friends and neighbours, most of all, my parents. "I know how fortunate I am to have been born into a family that taught me to care about others and that the most important words ever spoken are "Love one another." It really is as simple as that." Kung Fu Panda star Jack Black was also spotted by protesters walking down the street during another No Kings march in Los Angeles. It remains unclear if Black was joining the protest or happened to be walking past at the same time. Footage shared on TikTok shows the actor crossing the road and being accosted by fans. Over on the east coast, A-listers Mark Ruffalo and Susan Sarandon were seen joining protests in New York City. Several other celebrities took to Instagram to share images of themselves holding signs, including Anna Kendrick, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Marisa Tomei and Kerry Washington. Seinfeld star Louis-Dreyfus held a sign which read: "The only monarch I like is a butterfly." Tensions boil at 'No Kings' protests Demonstrators poured onto streets and parks to decry the Republican president as a dictator or would-be king, overshadowing celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the US Army – and what is also Trump's birthday. Huge, boisterous crowds marched in New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles, some behind "no kings" banners. Atlanta's 5000-capacity event quickly reached its limit, with thousands more gathered outside barriers to hear speakers in front of the state Capitol. In Washington, anti-war protesters unfurled signs that said "Homes not drones" not far from a display of armoured vehicles, helicopters and military-grade equipment on the National Mall set up to commemorate the Army's birthday. In some places, organisers handed out little American flags while others flew their flags upside down, a sign of distress. Mexican flags, which have become a fixture of the Los Angeles protests against immigration raids, also made an appearance at some demonstrations on Saturday.
