Jessie J Opens Up About Breast Cancer Surgery, Awaits Results With Hope

Last Updated: Living My Best Life singer Jessie J provides an uplifting update about her breast cancer struggle. English singer-songwriter Jessie J has been recently opening up about her breast cancer diagnosis and surgery. It was just before she released her song, Living My Best Life that she disclosed suffering from the early stages of breast cancer. And recently, the singer known for her songs like Price Tag, Domino, and Bang Bang, among others, revealed how her 'cancer has all gone.' In a post on Instagram, Jessi J shared a picture message to give a health update about her journey to be cancer-free. The British singer revealed she underwent surgery to get cured of cancer and listed the pros and cons of having one. She wrote, 'The first pro I put was… The cancer has all gone. This was a positive affirmation. NOT a fact. I don't have my results yet," further highlighting the overuse of the fingers-crossed emoji. 'I added the emoji in thinking people would understand and a lot didn't. A weird situation. My fault for not being clearer. But for now, I do not have my results after surgery, which was only 6 nights ago. I pray it will be true soon, but the journey of cancer isn't that simple, unfortunately," she wondered while praying for the results to come in her favour. She revealed that after giving some thought to whether she should share the unfortunate news with her Instagram community, the singer finally decided to open up. 'One, because selfishly, I do not talk about it enough," she said, further explaining, 'I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories." The Do It Like a Dude singer was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in April. She revealed that this had no relation to her then-upcoming song, 'Living My Best Life," and came completely unplanned. Documenting her surgery and recovery, she shared a carousel of images and videos on Instagram. In the glimpses, she was seen being adorned by her boyfriend, Chanan Colman. Their son, Sky, was also spotted indulging in a heartfelt conversation with his mom, right when she was admitted to the hospital. The singer captioned the post, 'This post is some of the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours. I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through. Grateful to my doctor / surgeon and all the nurses who cared for me and all my family / friends who came to visit. 🫂 I am home now, to rest and wait for my results." "Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding onto the word early. I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period ... "To get diagnosed with this, as I'm putting out a song called 'No Secrets' right before a song called Living My Best Life, which was all pre-planned before I found out about this, I mean you can't make it up. Jessie went on to reveal she plans to "disappear for a bit" after her performance at the Capital Summertime Ball. She said: "It wasn't something I'd planned, but yeah. I'm getting to keep my nipples, that's good. It's a weird topic and a weird situation. "I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive t*ts and more music." The Price Tag hitmaker joked: "It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job."

Jessie J opens up about early breast cancer diagnosis before releasing new single

Washington [US], June 5 (ANI): In a deeply personal revelation, singer-songwriter Jessie J has shared that she has been diagnosed with early breast cancer. The Grammy-nominated artist took to Instagram to open up about her health journey, explaining that she wanted to be transparent with her fans and followers, despite the personal challenges she is facing. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Jessie J disclosed that the diagnosis came just before the release of her new single, 'No Secrets', which is part of her upcoming sixth studio album. "Before 'No Secrets' came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer," she shared, emphasising the importance of the word early in her diagnosis. "I'm highlighting the word 'early.' Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word early," she added, expressing her determination to remain hopeful. The 'Price Tag' singer admitted that part of her decision to speak out was because she felt she had not been processing the news enough due to her busy schedule. "I just wanted to be open and share it, partly because selfishly I do not talk about it enough, I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard," she said in the video. Despite the severity of the diagnosis, Jessie J shared that she was encouraged by the support she has received from her fans and loved ones in the past when she opened up about personal struggles. "I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories," she said, highlighting the therapeutic power of community and connection. Jessie J also reflected on the timing of her diagnosis in relation to her music release. With the title of her new song No Secrets and the upcoming track 'Living My Best Life', she acknowledged the irony of the situation. "I know the press are going to say crazy stuff, but you know what, to get diagnosed with this as I'm putting out a song called 'No Secrets' right before a song called 'Living My Best Life,' which was all pre-planned before I found out about this," she said, adding with a sense of disbelief, "I mean you can't make it up." Jessie J first gained international recognition in the early 2010s with her breakthrough hits such as 'Domino' and 'Bang Bang', the latter of which featured collaborations with pop icons Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. The song was a massive success, and Jessie J received her sole Grammy nomination for her work on the track. (ANI)

Jessie J says she ‘needs a hug' after revealing early breast cancer diagnosis

Jessie J is doing away with the secrets — once and for all. The 37-year-old British singer took to Instagram on June 3 to reveal that she was diagnosed with early breast cancer prior to dropping her new song, 'No Secrets,' which was released on April 25. Her newest single, 'Living My Best Life,' was released three weeks later on May 16. In her announcement, Jessie J made sure to emphasize the term 'early.' 'Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding onto the word 'early,'' she said in the clip, adding that she's been 'in and out of tests' for the past few weeks and will be undergoing surgery soon. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer treatments are 'more effective and are better tolerated when started early.' In an attempt to keep the announcement light, Jessie J joked that she is 'getting to keep (her) nipples' and described her upcoming surgery as a 'very dramatic way to get a boob job.' 'I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery,' she said of the music festival she's performing at on June 15. 'And I will come back with massive (breasts) and more music.' While she credits her sense of humor for helping her through hard times, she also opened up about the new perspective her diagnosis has given her. 'All jokes aside,' she wrote in the caption. 'This last 2 months have been so amazing, and having this go on along side it on the sideline's has given me the most incredible perspective.' 'BUT… Your girl needs a hug,' she added. While revealing her diagnosis, Jessie J admitted that she was hesitant about going public with the news. Ultimately, she decided to share it with her fans so they can hear it from her. 'I've always shared everything that I go through in my life,' she explained. 'I just wanted to be open and share it,' she continued. 'One, because selfishly I do not talk about it enough – I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard.' Jessie J goes on to describe herself as a 'sharer' and 'open book.' 'I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories,' she says in the video. She also highlighted the irony behind the timing of her two newest releases. 'To get diagnosed with this as I'm putting out a song called 'No Secrets,' right before a song called 'Living My Best Life,'' Jessie J said in the video. 'I mean, you can't make it up.' She further clarified that the release of her two singles was 'pre-planned' before learning of the diagnosis. 'No (more) Secrets and is it too soon to do a remix called 'Living my breast life'?' she joked in the caption of the post. The breast cancer diagnosis comes less than one year after the singer revealed that she was diagnosed with ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) and OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). It also comes several years after she suffered a miscarriage in 2021, per People. Jessie J is now the proud parent of her 2-year-old son, Sky, who she welcomed with boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman in 2023, per Today.
