Jessie J opens up about early breast cancer diagnosis before releasing new single

Mint05-06-2025
Washington [US], June 5 (ANI): In a deeply personal revelation, singer-songwriter Jessie J has shared that she has been diagnosed with early breast cancer.
The Grammy-nominated artist took to Instagram to open up about her health journey, explaining that she wanted to be transparent with her fans and followers, despite the personal challenges she is facing.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Jessie J disclosed that the diagnosis came just before the release of her new single, 'No Secrets', which is part of her upcoming sixth studio album.
"Before 'No Secrets' came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer," she shared, emphasising the importance of the word early in her diagnosis.
"I'm highlighting the word 'early.' Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word early," she added, expressing her determination to remain hopeful.
The 'Price Tag' singer admitted that part of her decision to speak out was because she felt she had not been processing the news enough due to her busy schedule.
"I just wanted to be open and share it, partly because selfishly I do not talk about it enough, I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard," she said in the video.
Despite the severity of the diagnosis, Jessie J shared that she was encouraged by the support she has received from her fans and loved ones in the past when she opened up about personal struggles.
"I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories," she said, highlighting the therapeutic power of community and connection.
Jessie J also reflected on the timing of her diagnosis in relation to her music release.
With the title of her new song No Secrets and the upcoming track 'Living My Best Life', she acknowledged the irony of the situation.
"I know the press are going to say crazy stuff, but you know what, to get diagnosed with this as I'm putting out a song called 'No Secrets' right before a song called 'Living My Best Life,' which was all pre-planned before I found out about this," she said, adding with a sense of disbelief, "I mean you can't make it up."
Jessie J first gained international recognition in the early 2010s with her breakthrough hits such as 'Domino' and 'Bang Bang', the latter of which featured collaborations with pop icons Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.
The song was a massive success, and Jessie J received her sole Grammy nomination for her work on the track. (ANI)

Who is Utsav Dahiya? Inside the life of Apoorva Mukhija's ex whose viral song has set the internet ablaze with cheating jibes

The Rebel Kid of the internet, Apoorva Mukhija, has once again found herself in the middle of controversy, this time because of Utsav Dahiya. On Sunday, August 17, Dahiya dropped his original track Cute Little Red Flag on Instagram, and it's spreading like wildfire. But who exactly is Utsav Dahiya, and what has he done to spark this storm? The allegations In his latest Instagram post, Dahiya shared his original track Cute Little Red Flag a title that itself seemed like a playful nod to a phrase Mukhija often uses in her popular storytime videos. Alongside the song, he posted a long note where he appeared to take indirect shots at the creator. Without naming her directly, Dahiya hinted at being misrepresented for content, writing, 'If you continue spreading nonsense, I'll release the receipts. Don't use fabricated stories to gain sympathy or push false narratives for content. Having a large following doesn't give you the right to bully others by rage-baiting your audience.' The lyrics of the track also seemed to echo this sentiment. In one line, he sings: 'Pucha maine ghatiya kyun bola mujhe duniya ke liye, kehti baby yeh toh sab dhandha hai mere liye.' The word suggested a video where, after their breakup, Mukhija's made a lighthearted video with Anupam Mittal and called her ex-partners 'ghatiya log,' which drew significant backlash toward him. Moreover, her videos often featured references to 'toxic boyfriends' which many online assumed were aimed at Dahiya , even though she never took his name. In the song, he also claimed that after being labeled a cheater and abuser in Mukhija's videos, he tried reaching out to her and her management but was brushed off. According to him, the response he got was, 'You're a nobody, be grateful you even dated her.' He countered this in his track, saying 'I was told, 'You're a nobody, you should be happy you got to date her.' Well, here's a message from that 'nobody': I'm still here, still standing. Your numbers might mean something on an app, but truth doesn't need followers.' Who is Utsav Dahiya? Apart from being a content creator with 74.6K followers on Instagram, where he regularly shares travel and music videos, Dahiya is also an investment banker. According to his LinkedIn, he has been working with Morgan Stanley since 2019, starting as an analyst before being promoted to associate in 2022. In February 2025, he took on his current role as associate at the firm in Sydney. Dahiya grew up in Mumbai, and he pursued Electronics and Communications Engineering at PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh (2014–2018).

South Korean vlogger flashes ‘peace sign' in Turkey, told by locals it means something else: ‘Most fragile nation'

A South Korean traveller's innocent selfie gesture in Turkey has turned into a viral talking point online. Content creator Tyongee was visiting the country when she struck a typical peace-sign pose for the camera. But almost immediately, two men stopped her and told her that the gesture was not acceptable in Turkey. In her Instagram post sharing the clip, she admitted, 'I did not know at all! It's amazing how I get to learn a new culture and manner whenever I travel.' In the video, the men explain that while the V-sign means 'peace' in many countries, in Turkey it is associated with terrorism. One of them tells her, 'In your culture, it means peace, but unfortunately in Turkey, it is raised about terrorism,' leaving her surprised. Curious, she then asks if making a finger-heart–another popular Korean gesture–is fine, and the men say yes. A post shared by Tyongeee 툥이 (@tyongeee) The clip has stirred debate among viewers. Some Turkish users online clarified that the peace sign isn't officially banned, but it carries sensitive associations. One person wrote, 'I'll explain: this sign is, of course, originally the peace sign. However, in our country, since it is often used by terrorist kurds, it has left a negative impression on the Turkish public. It is not banned, but its use is generally frowned upon, and people may look at you differently. For years, the terrorist kurds who have caused us great suffering in our country have unfortunately tainted this beautiful sign for us and made it evoke negative feelings. Thank you for your understanding.' Others, however, pushed back. A Turkish commenter said, 'As a Turkish, I never heard that sign is banned:) they just made it up… We use it and it's super common.' Another quipped, 'I ain't doing any signs if I'm traveling internationally.' Many viewers appreciated the respectful way both sides handled the situation, with one remarking, 'They were respectful, the girl was respectful, that's how people should talk every time.'
