FAFO Parenting Is the Newest Trend, Thanks to Kylie Kelce

Yahoo07-05-2025

There are helicopter parents, those who believe in gentle parenting, and also attachment style parents. We've got scrunchy moms, tiger moms, Enya moms, and now a new term I just learned thanks to Kylie Kelce bringing it to light on her podcast: FAFO parenting.
The mom of four, and wife of Super Bowl champion, Jason Kelce, believe in FAFO parenting. And it's exactly what you think it means if you're up with the lingo: "Fuck around and find out."

FAFO parenting is when you let your child go through with their actions (even the questionable ones, potentially hurtful ones) without intervening.
As a mom of teens, I'll just call this "teen parenting" though it's only because I have no choice. My kids are going to do what they want to do and I can only hope they have my little voice of reason in their heads when contemplating something I wish they wouldn't when I'm not next to them.
This FAFO style, however, applies to kids of all ages, even the wee ones. Apparently, MomTok is rich with mamas letting their kids bite into hot chili peppers and going feral, doing whatever they want so they learn the hard way. It's inspired some parents to go wild as well.
This might work for some, but for others, it sounds very anxiety-inducing.

HuffPo got some expert insight from clinical psychologist Elina Telford who said that FAFO parenting "supports the brain to learn, creating opportunities for resilience, independence and problem-solving.'
Others believe it's a result of parents rebelling against helicopter and gentle parenting styles.
I'd venture to say that we all want our children to be independent thinkers, and dare to explore the world with all the consequences that comes along with it (within reason). So, we're not going to just let a toddler walk down a busy sidewalk next to a highly trafficked road by themselves all FAFO style, right?
A little guidance isn't too helicopter-y is it?
Eden Garcia-Balis, licensed marriage and family therapist, shared that it's not about being totally hands-off, but "about being strategically hands-off and allowing your child to slowly develop enough confidence and independence to take charge of their own actions and consequences.'
I can get down with that ... minus the torturous chili pepper thing.

Panthers Join Savannah Bananas for Historic Weekend in Charlotte

Panthers Join Savannah Bananas for Historic Weekend in Charlotte originally appeared on Athlon Sports. What happens when you mix the Carolina Panthers' brightest stars with baseball's most viral circus act? You break records, create memories, and remind Charlotte why it loves sports. Advertisement The Savannah Bananas brought their sold-out Banana Ball World Tour to Bank of America Stadium this past weekend, and the show was nothing short of legendary. With 148,000 fans in attendance over two nights, setting a new franchise record, but what really made the event unforgettable was the energy injected by Panthers royalty both past and present. All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly, tight end Greg Olsen, and running back Jonathan Stewart, key figures from the Panthers' unforgettable 2015 Super Bowl run were front and center Friday night. Kuechly, known for his meticulous preparation on the football field, threw out the first pitch after a self-imposed bullpen session that spanned hours. Stewart dashed home in classic J-Stew style, crashing through the dugout like he was breaking tackles at the goal line. Meanwhile, Olsen suited up in full Bananas gear and took the field with TikTok star Jackson Olsen. This was a meeting of gridiron and social media icons that had fans snapping photos and screaming double takes. Quarterback Andy Dalton traded the pocket for 'undodgeball,' pelting foam footballs in an interactive segment that had fans in stitches. Wide receiver Adam Thielen, who led the team in receiving yards last season, stepped up to home plate and broke into his signature Griddy dance, much to the delight of the crowd. Advertisement 'This city's got passion,' Dalton said. 'To have 74,000 show up back-to-back nights, it's a reminder that Charlotte is a sports town. Hopefully, that translates to our season too.' It wasn't just about fun, it was also personal. Charlotte native and Bananas player Eric Jones Jr. called it a career highlight, "Loved the Panthers my whole life, cried when they lost the Super Bowl in '04 and then in '15 I was in college having the time of my life watching all those playoff games with my buddies and it was just special. I hope that we get to play in Charlotte every year. I think it's the perfect spot. The fans are really hungry for it here…one, we need a major league team, but two, we need a Banana ball team right here." Savannah Bananas first baseman Eric Jones Jr.© Jim Dedmon-Imagn Images Between choreographed dances, glowing light shows, and fireworks, the Bananas' brand of baseball stole the spotlight, but it was the Panthers' cameos that added soul to the spectacle. From record-setting attendance to nostalgic reunions, this weekend proved one thing loud and clear: Charlotte doesn't just watch sports, it lives them. Advertisement Don't blink, Panthers fans. Speaking recently with Haley Dillon, the wife of NASCAR driver Ty Dillon, on the 'Believe in the Good' podcast, the 43-year-old Patrick — who was previously involved with new Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers — shared she's unattached after being quizzed about her relationship status. YouTube/Haley Dillon As the conversation continued, Haley quipped,' I'm going to be interested to see who's sliding into my DMs to get to your DMs.' Patrick has been open about her relationships over the years, including her two-year romance with Rodgers, 41. The former professional racer spoke candidly about their 2020 breakup on 'The Sage Steele Show' in May, claiming the 'emotionally abusive' relationship with Rodgers 'wore me down to nothing.' 'It felt like it was my life. So when you live with somebody, it's your whole life … And because the nature of the relationship was emotionally abusive, so that wore me down to nothing,' Patrick said. 5 Danica Patrick dated Aaron Rodgers from 2018 to 2020. Getty Images Through that darkness, Patrick found light in learning to 'show up' for herself again. 'It gave me the greatest gift, which is myself. It gave me the greatest gift of how much I needed to show up for myself and take care of myself,' she shared. Patrick later dated businessman Carter Comstock in 2021. She confirmed their split one year later. 5 Danica Patrick told Sage Steele in May 2025 how the breakup with Aaron Rodgers 'gave me the greatest gift of how much I needed to show up for myself and take care of myself.' FilmMagic Reps for Rodgers did not immediately return Page Six's request for comment in the aftermath of Patrick's remarks. The four-time league MVP is focused on new beginnings both personally and professionally. On Saturday, Rodgers officially joined the Steelers on a one-year, $13.65 million deal after a lengthy free agency saga. 5 Aaron Rodgers officially signed with the Steelers in June 2025 after two seasons with the Jets. Rodgers confirmed in December 2024 that he is in a relationship with a woman named Brittani. He was previously engaged to actress Shailene Woodley, with the pair ending things in 2022. Rodgers is coming off a two-year run with the Jets. He appeared in all 17 games last year after being sidelined for much of 2023 with an Achilles injury. He'll face the Jets in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season.
