FAFO Parenting Is the Newest Trend, Thanks to Kylie Kelce
There are helicopter parents, those who believe in gentle parenting, and also attachment style parents. We've got scrunchy moms, tiger moms, Enya moms, and now a new term I just learned thanks to Kylie Kelce bringing it to light on her podcast: FAFO parenting.
The mom of four, and wife of Super Bowl champion, Jason Kelce, believe in FAFO parenting. And it's exactly what you think it means if you're up with the lingo: "Fuck around and find out."

FAFO parenting is when you let your child go through with their actions (even the questionable ones, potentially hurtful ones) without intervening.
As a mom of teens, I'll just call this "teen parenting" though it's only because I have no choice. My kids are going to do what they want to do and I can only hope they have my little voice of reason in their heads when contemplating something I wish they wouldn't when I'm not next to them.
This FAFO style, however, applies to kids of all ages, even the wee ones. Apparently, MomTok is rich with mamas letting their kids bite into hot chili peppers and going feral, doing whatever they want so they learn the hard way. It's inspired some parents to go wild as well.
This might work for some, but for others, it sounds very anxiety-inducing.

HuffPo got some expert insight from clinical psychologist Elina Telford who said that FAFO parenting "supports the brain to learn, creating opportunities for resilience, independence and problem-solving.'
Others believe it's a result of parents rebelling against helicopter and gentle parenting styles.
I'd venture to say that we all want our children to be independent thinkers, and dare to explore the world with all the consequences that comes along with it (within reason). So, we're not going to just let a toddler walk down a busy sidewalk next to a highly trafficked road by themselves all FAFO style, right?
A little guidance isn't too helicopter-y is it?
Eden Garcia-Balis, licensed marriage and family therapist, shared that it's not about being totally hands-off, but "about being strategically hands-off and allowing your child to slowly develop enough confidence and independence to take charge of their own actions and consequences.'
I can get down with that ... minus the torturous chili pepper thing.

Joe Flacco talks about 'embarrassing' TikTok dances: 'Be an adult'
Joe Flacco is the elder statesman of the Cleveland Browns quarterback room. Having just turned 40 in January, Flacco has morphed into the "back in my day guy" and is now just one step away from telling the young whippersnappers to get off his lawn. Flacco has embraced that youthful energy in the twilight of his NFL career, taking the opportunity to pose for a fun photo at media day with rookie, Dillon Gabriel. Advertisement Regardless, he continued to provide plenty of entertainment for the media following Wednesday's minicamp practices, turning the session into a chat about social media, TikTok and posting dancing videos online. Flacco began discussing Twitter, now known as X, as it has evolved into a primary source of news. "The difference now is, everybody's getting their stuff from there, and it's treated a little bit more seriously because that is the main news source," Flacco said, via 92.3 The Fan's Daryl Ruiter. "You still have the same thing you always had, which is a million different opinions, but it kind of blends your actual news source with a bunch of other stuff." The quarterback went on to say that Instagram is the only social media platform he's used and made one thing clear –don't expect him to show up in a TikTok dancing video anytime soon. Advertisement "No TikTok dances," Flacco said. "The fact that people want to get on their phones and show people. That's embarrassing! You're an adult. Be an adult. I can't wrap my head around that." He followed up with some advice for the parents. "I get it, you have kids and you wanna have fun with your kids," Flacco added. "Like, have fun with your kids in private." Flacco appears to be no fan of the current social media landscape, but he also extended his media availability to discuss the good old days. While he wasn't walking up and down the rolling hills in 10 feet of snow to school, the quarterback did end up speaking about players who think offseason activities are too hard in the modern NFL. Advertisement "We're out there for an hour 15 minutes and guys think it's hard," Flacco said via Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein, referencing the two-a-days that used to be commonplace in the NFL. He went on to add that organized team activities (OTAs) used to be over two hours, highlighting just how much has changed since he entered the league in 2008. In other words, Flacco was in a reminiscing mood as the Super Bowl champion prepares for his 18th season in the league. Cooper DeJean Opens up on Viral Dunk With Saquon Barkley
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Not long after the Philadelphia Eagles drafted Cooper DeJean in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft, he became a favorite among the fan base. Before he begins his second year in the pros, the young defensive back opened up on one of his viral moments from the offseason. Aside from his talents on the football field, DeJean is an all-around gifted athlete. Like many other pros, he thrived across numerous sports. When he wasn't taking care of business on the gridiron, DeJean also turned heads with his basketball skills. Throughout his rookie campaign, fans constantly dug up old basketball clips from when DeJean was in high school. Before mandatory minicamp got underway, he showed he's still capable of delivering eye-popping moments. Three weeks ago, the Eagles paid a visit to the University of Pennsylvania. While there, the group found themselves on the campus' basketball court. Saquon Barkley and DeJean took this moment as an opportunity to have some fun. The star running proceeded to throw a dazzling alley-oop that DeJean dunked home with ease. During a recent episode of his "Exciting Mics" podcast, DeJean touched on this viral moment with teammate Reed Blankenship. He was slightly upset that this was the only clip caught on camera, as he felt he had better dunks that day. "I feel like I had a lot better dunks then this one throughout the day but they weren't on camera. Then we needed to leave." Coop can HOOP 😂🔥 — Exciting Mics (@excitingmics) June 9, 2025 DeJean's athleticism helped him provide an immediate impact for the Eagles both defensively and as a kick returner at times. He shined in his first year in the pros, finishing fourth in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. DeJean also managed to deliver a memorable moment in the postseason, returning an interception for a touchdown in the Super Bowl. Heading into his sophomore campaign with the Eagles, DeJean's athleticism could be further utilized in an expanded role. As minicamp continues, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said he might use the standout defensive back at safety in some scenarios. "We'd like to keep him at nickel, and then in our base package we'll find a spot for him, either at corner or safety," Fangio said. "A lot of it will end up depending on how the other guys develop and where we most need him." DeJean has some experience playing safety from his time in college, which could make such a transition easy for him. Given his past experience, the Eagles might utilize his talents to fill the void left by C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
