Meenakshi Chaudhary brand ambassador for Ramraj towels
Hyderabad: Ramraj Cotton, a premier brand for traditional and ethnic wear, announced actress Meenakshi Chaudhary as the brand ambassador for its newly launched premium towel range, Mrithu Towels.
The brand will soon launch a campaign featuring Meenakshi Chaudhary which will be covered across television, digital, print and retail platforms.

According to Ramraj Cotton, Mrithu Towels collection features four designed categories - the Signature Collection, inspired by Italian and German aesthetics showcases 32 cotton weave patterns. The Bamboo Towels, made from 100 per cent bamboo pulp, offer a silky-soft touch with enhanced water absorption and quick-drying features, ideal for eco-conscious households. The Terry Towels range combines cotton and bamboo blends, available in a variety of towel types including bath, hand, lunch, face, and junior towels. Completing the range, the Striped and Checked Towels deliver daily dependability with colourfastness, softness, and enduring quality, it added.

Canada Prime Minister Mark Carney, while highlighting India's economic stature and strategic role in global supply chains, said that the country's presence is 'essential' at the upcoming G7 Summit. 'It made sense,' Carney said, 'to have India, the fifth largest economy, at the G7 Summit." 'There are certain countries that should be at the table for those discussions in my capacity as G7 chair consultation,' he said. 'India is the fifth largest economy in the world, effectively the most populous in the world central to a number of supply chains, so it makes sense… I extended the invitation to Prime Minister Modi in that context and he has accepted," Carney said on Friday while responding to a question on extending an invitation for the Summit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi also confirmed he would attend the G7 Summit in Canada. According to Vina Nadjibulla, Vice President of Research & Strategy at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, 'having India at the G7 Summit matters to everybody else.' In an interview on CBC NN, Nadjibulla highlighted how there was a strong push from the other G7 countries to have India at the table. According to her, Canada is the outlier as other six members of the G7 are interested in deepening their strategic partnerships with India. 'In terms of the G7, we are the outlier because the other six members of the G7 are interested in deepening their strategic partnerships with India, deepening their defence technology and economic ties. In fact, every day there is a new announcement about either France of the UK or the US doing more with India,' she said. 'So, having India there also matters to everybody else. I think there was a strong push from other G6 to have India at the table. And I think in order for Canada also to be able to show relevance on the world stage, we can't just engage in diplomacy with those whom we like. I mean, diplomacy is not a gift to our friends. It's not a concession. It's a necessary tool to be able to advance our interests and defend our values,' Nadjibulla added. Experts say given the increasing economic heft of the country, India cannot be outside the major policy issues confronting the West, an opinion Canada's Carney seconded on Friday. India surpassed Japan to become the world's fourth-largest economy in May this year. At present, India's economy is bigger than all the G7 countries except the US and Germany. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's two visits to India have been 'instrumental in infusing momentum and depth in the bilateral agenda between India and Italy' in PM Modi's own words. Italy is India's fourth largest trading partner in the European Union, according to the Embassy of India, Rome, Italy. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached $14.56 billion in 2023-2024, with India's exports at $8.76 billion. An India Brand Equity Foundation report said that the Indian community in Italy (estimated at 2.5 lakh including PIOs) is the third largest community of Indians in Europe after the UK and the Netherlands. India ranks 15th as the country of origin of Italian imports, accounting for 1.5% of Italian imports, the report added. While attending the Group of Seven (G7) Summit in Italy last year, PM Modi held bilateral discussions with then UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and French President Emmanuel Macron. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy will be in India to further advance an ambitious UK-India relationship during talks with PM Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The visit follows the historic Free Trade Agreement agreed between the two countries and will deliver on this government's commitment to boost jobs and prosperity back in the UK, as part of the government's Plan for Change, a UK government's press release said on Saturday. The new deal with India is expected to increase bilateral trade by over £25 billion every year, UK GDP by £4.8 billion, and wages by £2.2 billion each year in the long run, the report added.

Germany has come out very strongly in endorsing India's position on fight against terrorism: Ambassador Ajit Gupte
Berlin [Germany], June 7 (ANI): India's Ambassador to Germany, Ajit Gupte, expressed strong optimism regarding the visit of an all-party delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, calling it a significant step in strengthening ties between the two countries. Speaking to ANI, Ambassador Gupte highlighted the support for India from the highest echelons of German society and the depth of the bilateral partnership. 'It has been a privilege for us to receive the delegation led by Ravi Shankar Prasad. We have had a number of meetings today. He met, in the morning, the Vice President of the Bundestag, Omid Nouripour. Then he met a group of MPs, including Armin Laschet, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Ralph Brinkhaus, who has been the Chairman of the India-Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group. Later, we had a meeting with the Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul,' Gupte said. 'In all these meetings, senior representatives reiterated their support for India's fight against terrorism, and they expressed solidarity. Foreign Minister has earlier said that India has the right to defend itself against terrorist attacks and in fact, Mr Nouripour went on to say that no country has suffered as much from terrorism as India has...' he added. Gupte noted that the delegation also held a luncheon interaction with several German MPs representing diverse political ideologies. 'Germany has come out very strongly in terms of endorsing India's position on the fight against terrorism, and we are deeply grateful for the solidarity that has been shown by German political leaders across the political mainstream because we met representatives and MPs from different political parties,' he said. Highlighting the strength of the Indo-German partnership, Gupte said, 'Germany and India are democracies, we share common values. Germany is our valued and trusted partner. Our trade and investment relationship with Germany is very strong, and it should be noted that India-Germany bilateral trade has exceeded 50 billion US Dollars, and this is more than 25% of India's trade with the EU.' He also noted that 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership, established in 2000. 'We have a regular format of consultations at the highest level, inter-governmental consultations and there are many mechanisms in place. We are seeking to develop the multi-faceted strategic partnership and explore new areas of cooperation and very shortly after the new government was sworn, headed by Chancellor MeRz, our EAM paid a visit to Germany from 22nd to 24th of May. It was a very successful visit,' he said. Later speaking at the interaction event with the diaspora, he said, 'Yesterday, we had very constructive meetings with the German leadership, including the Foreign Minister, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs leaders across the political spectrum in Germany expressed solidarity with us.' There is a desire in India to strengthen its relations with Germany, with whom we share a strategic partnership. This year, we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of this strategic partnership. In the last 8 years, the Indian diaspora has more than tripled in Europe, the Indian diaspora in Germany is the second largest after the UK...' he added. The delegation, led by Ravi Shankar Prasad, includes BJP MPs Daggubati Purandeswari, MJ Akbar, Gulam Ali Khatana, and Samik Bhattacharya; Congress MP Amar Singh, Priyanka Chaturvedi from Shiv Sena (UBT), AIADMK MP M Thambidurai and former diplomat Pankaj Saran. The delegation arrived in Germany after concluding their visit to Belgium. Earlier, Ravi Shankar Prasad said they raised strong concerns about terrorism during their visit to Brussels and generals of Pakistan 'run that country with the help of a military terrorist coalition', which is a 'threat' to democracy and humanity. This diplomatic effort forms part of India's global outreach following Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam by Pakistan-sponsored militants that claimed 26 lives and injured several others. Subsequently, the Indian Armed Forces carried out targeted strikes against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of over 100 terrorists linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
