Former Wisconsin class of 2026 quarterback commit pledges to new program
Former Wisconsin class of 2026 quarterback commit Jarin Mock pledged to Bowling Green on Thursday.
Mock previously joined the Badgers' class last July, back when Phil Longo was the program's offensive coordinator. Longo was then fired in mid-November after a 16-13 loss to No. 1 Oregon dropped his offense's outputs to 363.1 yards per game (91st nationally) and 23.9 points per game (98th). Mock went on to decommit from the class in mid-January after the program hired new OC Jeff Grimes.
247Sports lists Mock as a three-star recruit. He's specifically ranked as the No. 891 player in the class of 2026, No. 55 quarterback and No. 35 recruit from his home state of Ohio. Aside from Wisconsin, Purdue was his only Power Four offer.
Mock's departure was part of Wisconsin's top-down overhaul of its quarterback room after Grimes' arrival. Braedyn Locke (Arizona), Tyler Van Dyke (SMU) and Mabrey Mettauer (Sam Houston State) transferred out, while class of 2025 signee Landyn Locke (Sam Houston State) committed elsewhere. The program then added transfers Billy Edwards Jr. and Danny O'Neil during the winter window, retained 2025 signee Carter Smith and landed a commitment from 2026 quarterback Ryan Hopkins.
Mock now joins a Bowling Green program that has made three consecutive bowl games dating back to 2022. Entering 2025, the team is ranked No. 104 in the nation and No. 5 in the MAC by ESPN's Football Power Index.
Wisconsin's quarterback recruiting in the class of 2026 appears finished with Hopkins' commitment. The Badgers' class currently ranks No. 28 in the nation and No. 8 in the Big Ten at this stage of the cycle
It will be interesting to watch how Wisconsin's new-look quarterback room, led by Edwards Jr., performs in 2025. That output will inevitably be compared to how the program's former transfers fare with new programs, as well as to how Longo's Sam Houston State team performs in his first year in charge.

Oklahoma Sooners heavy favorites over Illinois State to open 2025 season
It's the Monday of the first week of the college football season. Congratulations, everyone, we've made it. Week zero will open the 2025 season with a fantastic matchup across the pond in Dublin, Ireland, between the Kansas State Wildcats and the Iowa State Cyclones in Farmageddon. Though the Oklahoma Sooners still have 12 days before they take the field, FanDuel has released the opening line for OU's week one matchup vs. the Illinois State Redbirds. As one would imagine, the Oklahoma Sooners are the heavy favorite over FCS Illinois State with the line currently set at minus-35.5. Though Illinois State is one of the top 10 teams in the FCS heading into the season, this is a heavy mismatch, and the Sooners will be looking to prove a point right out of the gate. Oklahoma's two high-profile transfer portal additions, John Mateer and Jaydn Ott, will take the field for the first time in an Oklahoma Sooners uniform. It'll be the first time we get to see Ben Arbuckle's offense on display on Owen Field, and one can imagine there will be some fireworks. Defensively, the Sooners are expected to be one of the best in the nation in 2025. Led by their defensive front, Oklahoma isn't likely to give up a lot of points in this game against an overmatched Illinois State team. Here's a look at the early odds for Oklahoma's season opener. Broncos broadcast partner apologizes for sharing fake Micah Parsons quote
During the Denver Broncos' preseason win over the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, the 9News broadcast shared a supposed quote from disgruntled Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons' podcast. "My dream destination? Denver. I would love to play for the Broncos," Parsons supposedly said, according to the 9News broadcast. "They already got the best defense in the league and they have a real chance at a Super Bowl." Parsons never actually said that. 9News was fooled by a fake quote a fan shared on Twitter/X. One day after the game, former Denver offensive lineman and current 9News commentator Ryan Harris apologized for the mistake. Harris tweeted the following statement: Lesson learned: more diligence In the Broadcast of Broncos Cardinals game I brought a tweet to the broadcast team that made the air that turned out to be fake. The post had graphics that quoted a remark that was attributed to Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys. Regrettably, this remark was never spoken. I satisfied neither my own professional standards, nor those of the elite team at 9NEWS. Throughout my playing and broadcasting career I make it a point to learn from my mistakes. I have learned from this instance and will not make this mistake again. My sincere apologies to the NFL, 9News and the Denver Broncos. Read and Verify! Harris played in the NFL from 2007-2016. He had three stints with the Broncos and won Super Bowl 50 with the club following the 2015 season. Mistakes happen. This is one that Harris undoubtedly won't make again. Syracuse names its starting quarterback, did Steve Angeli make the right choice to transfer?
While we all are continuing to wait to see who Notre Dame picks as its starting quarterback, on Monday the Syracuse Orange announced who theirs will be. Former Irish quarterback Steve Angeli has indeed won the job, as the New Jersey native transferred back closer to home for an opportunity to play and it has paid off. In two seasons for Notre Dame, he threw for 772 yards with 10 touchdowns and 1 interception, completing 72.5% of his 80 attempts. Hindsight is always 20/20, so we will always wonder what Angeli could have done for the Irish if he had stayed and battled it out against CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey past the spring, as the duo continue to battle it out as the season opener is quickly approaching. It will always be a what if with Notre Dame and Angeli. However, he has moved on and we want him to do his best this fall, except when the Orange travel to South Bend on Senior Day. Congrats to Steve on being named Syracuse's starter, and we know that he'll do great in the role.
