Throughout his career, J-Hope has tried his hand at many different genres of music. As a member of BTS, he's conquered K-pop, making history as the most successful group of all time in that style. He has also scored many wins in the more general pop field, both as part of that septet and on his own.
Usually, when working as a soloist, J-Hope is known as a rapper. He's produced a number of hip-hop tunes, and Billboard often classifies his work as rap. That's also proving to be the case in the United Kingdom, where his latest solo cut reaches one genre-specific tally as the Official Charts Company joins Billboard in declaring J-Hope's work no longer pop, but squarely in the hip-hop/R&B space.
"Sweet Dreams," J-Hope's latest single, opens on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart this week. That tally ranks the bestselling tunes throughout the United Kingdom that can be classified as hip-hop, R&B, or rap. The new tune, a collaboration with Miguel, scores an important debut this time around.
J-Hope launches his latest track at No. 10 on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart. "Sweet Dreams" earns the superstar his first placement inside the highest tier on that list, and just his second appearance overall.
J-Hope first landed on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles ranking almost exactly two years ago on the chart dated March 16, 2023. He was joined by J. Cole on the collaboration "On the Street." That track spent just one frame at No. 24.
As it kicks off its time inside the top 10 on the hip-hop and R&B tally, "Sweet Dreams" soars even higher on a number of other U.K.-based rosters. The tune, which may be the first taste of an upcoming project, opens at No. 1 on the Official Single Sales, Official Singles Downloads, and the Official Physical Singles charts.
"Sweet Dreams" also reaches the Official Singles chart, the roster that measures the 100 most-consumed tracks of any style or in any language in the U.K. The collaboration narrowly fails to become a top 40 win for both J-Hope and Miguel, as it starts at No. 42, giving J-Hope his sixth solo smash.

Swift's effort will nearly match that position on the Billboard 200, where it is scheduled to jump from No. 78 to fifth place. Total consumption of Reputation surged by more than 221% as the full-length moved 42,000 equivalent album units between purchases and streaming activity. Sales have largely fueled Reputation's comeback, but the album also racked up nearly 35 million streams on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music during the same timeframe. That figure is up 125% from the previous week. While that kind of growth would represent a career-best for many other artists, it's actually the smallest percentage gain Reputation posts across the major tallies following her acquisition notice.

Bruce Springsteen is doubling down on his stance that the United States government is 'corrupt, incompetent and treasonous,' even after his remarks on the subject at a Manchester concert infuriated President Donald Trump last week. One week after criticizing the Trump administration during a speech at his European tour kickoff show in England — leading the twice-impeached POTUS to launch into a series of vitriolic posts targeting him on Truth Social — the Boss has released a Land of Hope & Dreams EP featuring a recording of the address as its opening track. In addition to the politically charged speech, the six-track project also features live takes of the musician and his band performing 'Long Walk Home,' 'My City of Ruins' and 'Chimes of Freedom' in Manchester. There's also a three-and-a-half-minute recording of Springsteen once again critiquing the state of American politics later in the show. 'In my country, they're taking sadistic pleasure in the pain that they inflict on American workers, they're rolling back historic civil rights legislation that led to a more just and moral society,' he says in the clip. 'They're abandoning our great allies and siding with dictators against those struggling for their freedom.' The EP comes shortly after Trump responded to Springsteen's onstage remarks by calling him 'highly overrated' and 'dumb as a rock' on Truth Social, adding at the time, 'This dried out 'prune' of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that's just 'standard fare.'' Eric Church Defends Bruce Springsteen After President Trump Remarks, Says Political Parties Are ‘Total Bulls–t'
When Bruce Springsteen put the Donald Trump administration on blast at a concert in Manchester a few weeks ago, Eric Church was in the crowd. And in a new interview, the country star shared what he really thought of the moment that sparked a social media rampage led by the president against one of the country star's musical heroes. Speaking to Rolling Stone in an open-ended interview published Friday (June 6), Church made it clear that he thinks Springsteen — who made headlines for calling the White House 'corrupt, incompetent and treasonous' at his kickoff Land of Hope & Dreams Tour show in May — has the right 'to say and do what he wants.' Regardless of whether you agree with Springsteen's comments, Church — who in 2011 paid tribute to the New Jersey rocker on Billboard Hot 100 No. 19 hit 'Springsteen' — added that he thinks the passion behind the moment only elevated the show itself. 'You could tell he wanted to get something off his chest,' said the 'Heart on Fire' artist. 'It added a little more, whatever that was … angst … and the show was fantastic. The topic of the E Street bandleader's viral speech came up as Church was discussing his thoughts on America's political landscape, which has been more fraught than ever since Trump returned to office in January. Following the Manchester show, the twice-impeached POTUS ranted on Truth Social that Springsteen was 'highly overrated,' 'dumb as a rock' and a 'dried out 'prune' of a rocker,' later lobbing long-debunked accusations that the 'Born in the U.S.A.' musician had participated in an 'illegal election scam' for Kamala Harris. Meanwhile, Americans' satisfaction with the economy under Trump has been dropping, while many people have been calling out the president's administration for working to slash funding for programs supporting reproductive healthcare, LGBTQ rights and more. But as the divide between Democrats and Republicans deepens, Church told Rolling Stone that he thinks pledging unconditional allegiance to any one political party is 'total bulls–t.' 'I have a problem with the political system where I believe things on both sides, but if I have to pick a party, it means that I can't believe some of those things,' he told the publication. 'If I'm a Republican or I'm a Democrat, I have to be all Republican or all Democrat, and there's no way those guys and girls believe that. There's no f–king way.' Even so, Church doesn't want to label himself as an 'independent. 'It sounds like I can't make up my mind,' he said. 'I bristle at that. But if you look at how broad these issues and topics are, I think there's a small percentage of Americans that truly believe in 100 percent of a party's platform. Most Americans go back and forth. I change my mind all the damn time.' The interview comes about a month after the release of Church's new album, Evangeline vs. the Machine, which debuted at No. 30 on the Billboard 200 in May. The North Carolina native also recently appeared on Morgan Wallen's chart-topping new album, I'm the Problem, guesting on the song 'Number 3 and Number 7,' which entered at No. 52 on the Hot 100 and No. 27 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
