Police seek witnesses for fatal Penang Bridge motorcycle accident
The incident occurred at Kilometer 4.8 of the bridge towards Perai earlier today.
Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Chief ACP Helmi Aris confirmed the victim was a 65-year-old man.
Initial investigations suggest the motorcyclist was travelling from George Town to Butterworth before the collision.
The victim reportedly brushed against another vehicle before falling and being run over by a heavy vehicle.
He suffered severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless driving causing death.
Authorities are appealing for dashcam footage or eyewitness accounts to assist the investigation.

Footage of the incident circulated widely on social media earlier today.

Seremban police chief Hatta Che Din said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer. He said police later confiscated a knife. PETALING JAYA: A foreign woman who crashed into three motorcycles and attacked several people with a knife at a traffic light intersection in Kajang yesterday was reportedly stressed by life in Malaysia and unhappy with her treatment while studying in the country. Kajang police chief Naazron Yusof said the 24-year-old, a student at a public university, had been remanded for seven days until Aug 20. 'So far, statements have been taken from 11 witnesses, including the victims,' he said in a statement today. 'Two victims who were hospitalised are in stable condition and remain under observation.'
