Telangana: Major reshuffle of police wing on cards
Hyderabad: After a major reshuffle of IAS officers, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is planning to overhaul the state police wing and district administration, besides going in for a rejig of the administration in the secretariat, according to official sources.
A performance report of the secretaries of various wings, District Collectors, DIGs, SPs and other district officers in the focal posts is currently under scrutiny. 'CM will take a call on the rejig of the administration in the secretariat and also in the district headquarters. He is focusing more on the streamlining the administration from state to village level so that the benefits of the welfare schemes reach the needy and complete the development programmes at a fast pace,' top officials said, adding that the list of 'underperforming' officials was also prepared and the CMO launched a hunt for efficient officers to replace them.
Sources further said that the newly-appointed IAS officers TK Sreedevi, K Shashanka and EV Narasimha Reddy have been given the big task of completion of major projects in the Municipal Administration wing.
Revanth Reddy instructed the three officials to coordinate with each other and complete the Future City and Musi Rejuvenation projects and other urban infrastructure development projects before the deadline.
Some more officials will be appointed in the Panchayat Raj, Education and Medical and Health wings to achieve the goals set by the government to improve the facilities in the villages, education and health sectors. 'District level officials will be entrusted with the responsibility of all welfare schemes with a deadline from May this year," the sources added.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, who has been appointed as Vice Chairman to Dr MCR HRD Institute upon her superannuation on April 30, will be given the responsibility of monitoring the implementation of the schemes and performance of the district administration.
Some of the CMO officials will also be transferred. Senior IAS official Jayesh Ranjan has already been posted in the CMO - investment cell.
A group of top police officials will also be reshuffled as the CM received some intelligence inputs that a few of them were not performing as per the requirements of the government.
'Police failure in curbing the students' unrest in the HCU over Kancha Gachibowli lands and Opposition leaders' flash strikes in the districts did not go well and the CM wanted to overhaul the police wing with some efficient officers at high level soon," sources said.

He added that in the 22 years of the Praveshotsav, much good work, including radical reforms in the state's education sector, has been accomplished. Let us make it more dynamic and work as a team, and based on the experiences and feedback of previous Praveshotsavs, let us work together for more result-oriented outcomes. The Shala Praveshotsav, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2002-03, has completed 22 years. This year, the 23rd Shala Praveshotsav and Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav is set to be held with the theme 'Come, let's make Shala Praveshotsav a social festival' in 1529 government secondary and higher secondary schools, 5134 grant-in-aid secondary and higher secondary schools, and 31,824 government primary schools across the state. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the Education Department has planned to enrol a total of 25.75 lakh students during this Shala Praveshotsav. Furthermore, he emphasized the need to inform SMC members and children during the Praveshotsav about the benefits of the 'Namo Lakshmi' scheme to encourage girls to pursue education from standards 9 to 12, and the 'Namo Saraswati' scheme to cultivate an interest in science stream education among children. On this occasion, Education Minister Kuber Dindor said that in this year's Praveshotsav, the state government has also focused on admissions from the 8th to the 9th standard and from the 10th to the 11th standard. Through an AI-based tracking system, a list of potential dropouts will be prepared, and special attention will be focused on such students. He added that we have tried to give a new direction to secondary education by adopting an approach of 'review, not examination' and 'performance, not presentation'. Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi said that this Shala Praveshotsav program is not limited to the Education Department alone but has become a 'mission mode' festival connecting all departments. In this joint program of the government and society, primary education has started receiving public support as a humanitarian task. He also advocated for a social audit by getting feedback through meetings with the SMC during school visits in the Shala Praveshotsav. 'Promises Fulfilled': Odisha CM Majhi On 1-Year Report Card, Patnaik Slams 'Development Rhetoric'
Last Updated: The BJP has claimed that its government has fulfilled half of the promises made in its manifesto, while the BJD countered this by saying mere rhetoric cannot lead to development A political tussle has erupted over the state government's one-year report card between Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and his predecessor, Naveen Patnaik. The BJP has claimed that the state government has fulfilled at least half of the promises made in its manifesto, while the BJD countered this by saying mere rhetoric cannot lead to development. Majhi presented a detailed report card highlighting the achievements of his government and outlined the roadmap for the future on Tuesday. He said the government has taken steps to fulfil 11 out of 21 promises as outlined in the 'Sankalp Patra' in the first 12 months in office. 'We have not simply governed, we have fulfilled the hopes of the people. Whatever we promised, we have delivered," Majhi said. 'My simplicity is not a weakness. There are many things behind my comments. Many secrets will be revealed in the future. Anyone involved in corruption will face stringent action. Recently, we have acted against IAS officers, mine owners, and contractors. Many senior officials are facing the consequences, with over 200 senior officials under scrutiny. Many big fish are in jail." He said the government is taking steps to investigate mining, chit fund scams, and various corruption cases. Officers have been tasked with collecting more information and the process of reorganising the Lokayukta has begun, he added. Expressing his gratitude for the BJP-led Centre's support for Odisha, Majhi further said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on June 20. Listing some major initiatives, he said on June 12 last year, the state cabinet took four landmark decisions aimed at people-centric governance: opening all four gates of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri for devotees; launching the Subhadra Yojana for women empowerment; establishing a Rs 500 crore corpus fund for the temple's development; and providing an Rs 800 bonus per quintal for paddy to farmers. He added that around 17 lakh 'lakhpati didis' have been empowered through targeted women-centric schemes, fulfilling the government's vision of self-reliant rural households. Highlighting education as a major focus, the chief minister said the launch of 'Godavarish Mishra Adarsh Vidyalaya' in each panchayat and the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) will revolutionise teaching and learning. 'WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE' Former CM Naveen Patnaik, however, slammed the BJP government accusing it of focusing on long speeches and advertisements rather than real development. During the launch of the 'Jana Jagaran Abhiyan' at Sankha Bhawan, he questioned the state government's achievements. 'They call it a people's government. But where are the people? Long speeches and big advertisements alone cannot bring development," Patnaik said. Patnaik said during the BJD's tenure, 90 per cent of the state's population benefited from the 'Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana'. 'The current Ayushman Bharat scheme fails to provide medicine or free hospital treatment. Thousands, including mothers, the elderly, cancer patients, and children, are facing harassment," he said. He alleged that the health system has collapsed, with posts of chief district medical officer lying vacant in 19 out of 30 districts. 'This is the so-called success of the current government," he said. Patnaik further claimed that 'Mission Shakti' brought glory to the state across India, but the present government has weakened this movement in a year. He noted that in 2000, the BJD had inherited a state with a loan burden of Rs 18,000 crore, and the government was running on overdraft. 'By 2024, the BJD left a treasury surplus of Rs 45,000 crore. The current government is now running on record loans," he added. He alleged that farmers are being exploited by millers while irrigation projects, which reached record high under the BJD, have been halted by the current regime.
