Aamir Khan fired a struggling Daya Shankar Pandey from Akele Hum Akele Tum as he was overqualified: ‘I thought of him as a villain'
Speaking on the YouTube channel Friday Talkies, Daya recalled, 'I didn't have work. I was facing financial crisis. My family had refused to support me and I also thought I would earn my own money. I had asked the assistant director (AD) of the film Akele Hum Akele Tum to give me any role possible and so he got me 12 day work in that film and I was getting Rs 2000 per day.'
Daya Shankar Pandey shared that Aamir Khan knew him from earlier as they had worked together in the 1995 film Baazi, and he also knew that Aamir regarded him as a good actor. However, Aamir's positive opinion of Daya ended up costing him the role in Akele Hum Akele Tum. He explained. 'I would try and avoid Aamir sir so that he doesn't see me but one day he saw me and called me and asked what I am doing there. When I told that I am playing a junior artist's role, he told Mansoor Khan and the AD, 'He is a very good actor. Don't waste him.' I didn't want to hear this appreciation because I wanted to earn my per day and leave. I thought of Aamir Khan as a villain at that time. They did my pack-up.'
Though Aamir didn't allow Daya to continue playing the junior artist's role in Akele Hum Akele Tum, he later made up for it by casting him in Lagaan and also recommending him for a pivotal role in Ghulam. The actor further recalled how Aamir personally called him to meet director Mahesh Bhatt and Ghulam's writer Anjum Rajabali. However, even with the superstar's backing, Daya still faced rejection.
Sharing the experience, he said, 'Anjum and Mahesh kept rejecting me for roles in the film, saying that I am too thin and all. I got very insecure because Aamir Khan is recommending me but the writer is rejecting. What kind of bad luck is this.' However, Days revealed that eventually Aamir managed to convince them, and he was cast in the role.

When Shah Rukh Khan Said He Should Have Won The National Award That Saif Ali Khan Got For Hum Tum
New Delhi: While the Internet and the film fraternity are ecstatic with Shah Rukh Khan winning the National Award for Best Actor for Jawan, some do believe that it was the 2004 film Swades that deserved it more. Shah Rukh Khan seemed to have agreed, as an old interview has now resurfaced where the actor said that he deserved to win the honour that year. Shah Rukh Khan had lost the National Award to Saif Ali Khan for Hum Tum in 2004. What's Happening In an event held back in 2000, a snippet of Shah Rukh Khan with filmmaker Kunal Kohli and actress Mandira Bedi has resurfaced online after the superstar's National Award win recently. When asked about his most-liked films of Kunal Kohli back at the event, Shah Rukh Khan had spoken about Hum Tum and Saif Ali Khan winning the National Award. The actor had hilariously added, " Fanaa was very good. I think Hum Tum was very nice. His actor won the National Award for Hum Tum when I think I should have got it, but that's another story." Furthermore, talking about his favourite films, Shah Rukh Khan said, "See, main dil ka bahut acha hoon. Saari filmein achi lagti hain, saare heroes ache lagte hain, saari heroines achi lagti hain, har cheez achi lagti hai (I am good by heart. I like all films, all heroes, and all heroines). I am a simple-minded person; I like everything, including your films. I have loved them all." How Fans Reacted Some Shah Rukh Khan fans seemed to agree with the actor's remark made in good humour. One comment read, "Agreed here. I can't fathom how even Hum Tum was considered for Saif to get the award. I've watched Hum Tum, and I like it, but did I believe it was what makes Saif National Award worthy? No, absolutely not!" Another Internet user wrote, "He truly deserved it for Swades, tbh." One Reddit user said, "What a pity. Although Swades without an award is no less. But it would have been such a great moment for him and would've somehow healed some of the scars of Swades' BO failure. Might have made him choose similar films at least one more time, which he never did because of Swades' BO failure." In A Nutshell An old video of Shah Rukh Khan talking about losing out on a National Award for Swades to Saif Ali Khan for Hum Tum has been making the rounds in light of his latest win. This year, one of the biggest highlights was SRK winning his first-ever National Award. The actor bagged the Best Actor award for his role in the blockbuster film Jawan. Known for his long and successful career, this win is seen as a special moment for the superstar and, not to forget, his "diehard fans." SRK shared the Best Actor award with Vikrant Massey, who was honoured for his performance in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 12th Fail at the 71st National Awards.

Inside Aamir Khan's Weight Loss Journey: How The Actor Lost Over 25 Kg In 5 Months
Aamir Khan is a perfectionist who consistently goes the extra mile to prove his mettle. Whether it's for his movie Ghajini or Dangal, the Bollywood superstar has stunned audiences time and again with his fitness journey. For his 2016 blockbuster movie Dangal, Aamir Khan's weight loss transformation remains one of the most talked about among fans. Known for his intense dedication, the 60-year-old actor underwent a jaw-dropping physical transformation - gaining and then losing around 25 kg - to portray Indian wrestling champion Mahavir Singh Phogat at different stages of his life. To reflect the character's physical journey from a prime wrestler to a middle-aged father, Aamir requested director Nitesh Tiwari to shoot the ageing father portion first. That way, he could get fitter as the filming progressed. Rather than wearing a bodysuit to appear heavier for his role, Aamir Khan wanted to gain weight naturally believing he wouldn't be doing justice to the role otherwise. "Putting on the weight was fun. I could eat whatever I wanted and had a ball," he admitted. "But it was most uncomfortable, even my wrestling training was affected. I was carrying so much weight that I couldn't move faster. Your breathing changes when you put on weight, your body language changes, the way you walk, the way you sit... everything changes." Aamir Khan's Dramatic Weight Loss Transformation Weighing nearly 97 kg with 38% body fat at his heaviest, Aamir later shed around 25 kg, bringing his body fat down to 9.6%. The transformation was difficult, and even Aamir doubted himself initially: "I had negative thoughts about not being able to achieve my weight loss goals... but I didn't let them pull me down. I took it one day at a time and not think about the result." Aamir Khan followed a rigorous fitness regime involving strength training, functional workouts, and cardio, along with a strict, calorie-deficit diet. "Diet is number one," he said. "If your diet isn't right, you will not see results - no matter how much you exercise." The PK actor's trainers recalled Aamir Khan asking to stop workouts, doubting his limits. While they agreed to him, they did not reduce weight or made the exercise easy, which helped the actor push through - and ultimately succeed. Director Nitesh Tiwari praised Aamir's dedication. By the end of filming, Aamir himself was proud of the results. "Once you start, you slowly see your body transform," said Aamir Khan. Aamir Khan's weight loss journey is an example that you need to keep going even when you feel demotivated. His weight loss journey stands as a reminder that motivation may fade but discipline and consistency will give you results.

Ashish Chanchlani calls out ‘forced hatred' against Shah Rukh Khan after his National Award win for Jawan
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan won his first-ever National Award for Best Actor for his performance in Jawan. However, many on social media were disappointed with SRK winning the award for Jawan. Actor Urvashi also questioned the National Award jury over SRK's win. Now, YouTuber and content creator Ashish Chanchlani has called out the 'forced hatred' towards Jawan. Ashish Chanchlani talks about 'forced hatred' against Jawan. Ashish Chanchlani on hatred towards Jawan On Monday, Ashish took to X (formerly Twitter) and called out the negativity directed at Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, writing, 'Will never understand this forced 'hatred' for #Jawan. It's my most favourite SRK film after Chak De. It was entertaining and also beautifully shot.' While many agreed with Ashish's statement, others defended their criticism. One user wrote, 'There's no hatred, the movie is good, but honestly, it's not good enough to deserve a National Award. SRK should have already been given the award for movies like Swades, Chak De India, or My Name is Khan — but Jawan... umm, come on!! Vicky Kaushal was more deserving for Sam Bahadur.' Another added, 'Because Swades and Chak De were far better films compared to Jawan. Why didn't they give the award for Swades back then instead of awarding it to Hum Tum?' Shah Rukh Khan shared the National Award for Best Actor with Vikrant Massey, who won it for his performance in 12th Fail. Days after the announcement, actor Urvashi, who won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for Ullozhukku, questioned the criteria used by the jury to honour SRK with the Best Actor award while considering Vijayaraghavan for Best Supporting Actor. About Jawan Released in 2023, Jawan is an action thriller featuring Shah Rukh in dual roles, alongside Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani, among others. The film follows the story of a vigilante who takes on corruption and injustice while confronting secrets from his past. It was praised for its gripping narrative, mass appeal, and SRK's powerful performance. Jawan became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time, earning ₹1160 crore worldwide, further cementing Khan's box-office dominance.
