Hilaria Baldwin 'was sure' husband Alec Baldwin 'was dead'
Hilaria Baldwin "was sure" her husband Alec Baldwin "was dead" when he suffered a terrifying health scare that left him unable to walk.
The 67-year-old actor was battling "stress" in the aftermath of the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins - who lost her life in 2021 on the set of his movie 'Rust' when a prop gun discharged - and he was facing two counts of involuntary manslaughter related to the tragedy.
Now his wife Hilaria has revealed her movie star husband's health went into decline several weeks before the charges were dropped in April 2023. In her book 'Manual Not Included', she wrote: "[He] became a totally different man [after the tragedy] ...
"His hands became cold, and he could barely walk. I brought him to the emergency room. They did many tests. It was more stress, the doctors said ... It was like he was turning off."
She went on to reveal Alec suffered a further scare a few days later and she rushed him to hospital. Hilaria explained: "[I] found him shaking, unable to stand up. He still refused to see the doctor, doing his best Alec-curmudgeon again to make me leave him alone ...
"[As we arrived at the hospital he] slumped back, eyes rolling, mouth open ...
"Mikey, our driver, ran inside the hospital to get help. I was sure Alec was dead. I thought I was going to vomit from feeling so helpless and heartbroken. How could this be happening?"
She went on to reveal Alec stayed in hospital for a week and was unable to get around "without the help of a walker".
Alec then had to go back to work to finish off 'Rust' and Hilaria explained they decided to keep his ill health a secret from the rest of the cast and crew - fitting him with an orthopedic boot so he could blame his mobility issues on an injury.
Hilaria previously revealed Alec was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after he was charged.
During an episode of the couple's reality show 'The Baldwins', she explained: "Everyone who is close to Alec has seen his mental health decline.
"He was diagnosed with PTSD, and he says in his darkest moments, 'If an accident had to have happened this day, why am I still here? Why couldn't it have been me?''
Alec added in a confessional: 'This past year was just terrible. There were times I'd lay in bed. I'd go, 'Wow, my kids. I can't get up.' That's not like me. I'm not like that at all, not in any way am I like that. Never."
The charges against the actor was dropped in April 2023, but he was indicted again in January 2024 and went on trial in July of that year.
The trial collapsed after just three days and the charges against him were dismissed with prejudice.

Denmark screening of Just A Farmer film opens conversation about mental health in rural communities
Denmark restaurant The Dam screened new film Just A Farmer on Monday night, with the evening presented by Black Dog Ride and aiming to open conversations about mental health and suicide in rural Australia. An Australian farmer takes their own life every 10 days. This was the eye-opening statistic presented to the gathered audience at the end of the film, as the room full of more than 100 people sat in sombre silence after watching the deeply moving film. Just A Farmer follows main character Allison and her young farming family in rural Victoria and their journey of grief and healing after she loses her husband Alec to suicide. Leila McDougall wrote, produced, and starred in the film, with she and her husband mortgaging their cattle farm in Victoria to finish the $2 million production. She attended the screening at The Dam and said growing up and living in farming communities opened her eyes to the devastating and growing impacts of the mental health crisis in rural Australia. 'It is still quite taboo in a farming community, but it's time we started having those conversations,' she said. 'Making a movie was my a way of subconsciously getting people to see what's going on in farming communities, and I honestly don't regret a single minute or dollar we spent doing it.' Raintree property owner Stephen Birkbeck gave the evening's opening address, and shone a light on the hardships WA farmers have faced in the past five years and beyond, how important it was to come together to support farmers and have conversations around mental health. 'Experts will give you insights into farmers' suicide, what worries me is that the rates have always been high but they have increased by 50 per cent in the last 10 years. 'I have never seen anything like the stress our farming community face today,' he said. 'We need an SOS to go out, farmers need help if you want us to keep growing your food. 'We need help and we need to be listened to. 'I conclude by asking for society to put a higher value on our farming community and its vulnerable souls.' Black Dog Ride director Bev Seeney said the film was a perfect opportunity to bring WA communities together to talk about mental health. 'I believe telling our stories gives us a sense of empowerment with our stories,' she said. 'If we keep quiet about our own experiences, nobody else knows that there is a way through. 'So many people come up and just start sharing, and for many of them it's the first time they have, and then we can encourage them to go and get support, it's a very powerful thing.' Armourer completes prison sentence over Rust shooting
A movie armourer convicted in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer by Alec Baldwin on the set of the western movie Rust has been released from a New Mexico prison after completing an 18-month sentence. Prison records show Hannah Gutierrez-Reed signed out of the Western New Mexico Correctional Facility in Grants on Friday to return home to Bullhead City, Arizona, on parole related to her involuntary manslaughter conviction in the death of Halyna Hutchins in 2021. Gutierrez-Reed also is being supervised under terms of probation for a separate conviction on a charge of unlawfully carrying a gun into a licensed liquor establishment. Baldwin, the lead actor and co-producer for Rust, was pointing a gun at Hutchins during a rehearsal on a movie set outside Santa Fe when the revolver went off, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza. A jury convicted Gutierrez-Reed of involuntary manslaughter in March in a trial overseen by Mary Marlowe Sommer, who later sentenced her to the maximum 18-month penalty. Gutierrez-Reed has an appeal of the conviction pending in a higher court. Jurors acquitted her of allegations she tampered with evidence in the Rust investigation. Prosecutors blamed Gutierrez-Reed for unwittingly bringing live ammunition onto the set of Rust and for failing to follow basic gun safety protocols. Gutierrez-Reed carried a gun into a downtown Santa Fe bar where firearms are prohibited weeks before Rust began filming. An involuntary manslaughter charge against Baldwin was dismissed at trial in 2024 on allegations that police and prosecutors withheld evidence from the defence. The filming of Rust was completed in Montana. The western was released in cinemas in May.
