Nine-year-old Sheersh, who was on his maiden Kanwar Yatra, thinks he encountered nothing short of a pure divine intervention.
The boy, who had embarked on the pilgrimage from Barkali village in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, got separated from his father Babloo Kumar on the Delhi-Haridwar national highway on Sunday.
Police eventually found the boy inside a pilgrims' camp and reunited him with his father near Falauda village in the evening.
According to a statement issued by the office of Senior Superintendent of Police on Monday, acting on a child missing complaint, the police started searching for the boy and found him in a camp.
Sadar Circle Officer Devwrat Bajpai told PTI, "After they were reunited, both the child and the father were moved to tears with joy." Babloo Kumar said he had taken Sheersh with him on Kanwar Yatra for the first time ever this year. Two days ago, they went to Haridwar to collect holy water from river Ganga. While they were returning on foot on the highway along with other kanwariyas, his son went missing.
He filed a complaint with the Uttar Pradesh Police, who eventually found Sheersh at a pilgrim's camp and returned his son to him.
The duo then continued their yatra to reach Barkali village.

Jane Street deposits Rs 4,843 cr in escrow account; requests Sebi to lift curbs

New Delhi, Jul 14 (PTI) US-based hedge fund Jane Street, which allegedly made handsome gains through market manipulation, has deposited the mandated Rs 4,843.57 crore in an escrow account in favour of Sebi and requested it to lift certain restrictions. Sebi barred the hedge fund from accessing the market and impounded over Rs 4,843 crore in gains. The probe found that JS made a profit of Rs 36,671 crore on a net basis during the probe period from January 2023-May 2025. In compliance with the interim order, a sum of Rs 4,843.57 crore has been credited to an escrow account with a lien marked in favour of Sebi, the regulator said. 'Jane Street has further requested Sebi that, following the creation of this escrow account in compliance with Sebi directions, certain conditional restrictions imposed under the interim order be lifted and that Sebi issue appropriate directions in this regard,' the statement noted. 'This request is currently under examination by Sebi in accordance with the directions of the interim order,' it added. Op Kalnemi: Police verify IDs of 600 seers at Badrinath, detain 2
Dehradun: Two men from West Bengal were detained on Sunday evening as part of the ongoing 'Op Kalnemi' in Badrinath after they allegedly failed to produce valid ID documents during a verification carried out on over 600 seers. Op Kalnemi was initiated during the Kanwar Yatra against men who have allegedly been posing as seers and godmen to dupe people, including women and youths, in the state. Police said the detained men were being questioned further to verify their credentials. A senior officer added, "As the operation continues, many seers have left the shrine amid the intensified checks. Police have been carrying out verification at regular intervals, but efforts have ramped up since the launch of Op Kalnemi during the Kanwar Yatra, following CM Pushkar Singh Dhami's directive last week." Meanwhile, in Dehradun on Monday, police arrested 29 more individuals posing as holy men to dupe mainly women and youngsters on the pretext of offering religious and astrological solutions to their daily problems. Twenty of those arrested belong to other states. Police said over 200 people have been arrested across the state so far since the operation began on Friday.
