Orlando Pirates news: Maswanganyi, Mofokeng, Saleng
Orlando Pirates could see several stars leave Mayfair this offseason as foreign suitors start lining up.
Relebohile Mofokeng, who received an R25.8 million bid from Zamalek earlier this year, will be the Buccaneer's gravest concern. The 20-year-old is on a superstardom trajectory, with clubs in awe of his potential.
Glasgow Rangers and Barcelona FC have shown interest, and you'd be a fool to believe many clubs won't try their luck in the offseason transfer market.
While Monnapule Saleng's absence has plummeted his stock price, there's a good chance clubs see it as an opportunity for a bargain, knowing there's a good chance he finds form in their threads.
Meanwhile, reigning PSL Player of the Year Patrick Maswanganyi has expressed interest in a return to Europe, and according to reports, the former club is considering making it happen.
'It's no longer just about an inquiry, it's about negotiations now,' a Siya source confirmed in January.
'They really want him back in Portugal. They are looking at the progress he has made, and they are happy to bring him back to Portugal. It will all depend on what Pirates are looking at or if UD Oliveirense can afford what Pirates will be asking for Maswanganyi.'
'The only issue that is there now is the R40 million that the club has put on Maswanganyi's head. You know he is one of the best players now in the country and if the club wants that amount then UD Oliveirense should meet or make it even better than that. But since they are believed to have opened up negotiations then it will all depend on their offer that they table to Pirates.'

Percy Tau: R450k salary for two years from Kaizer Chiefs perfect
Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly attacker Percy Tau has admitted he would not mind playing for Kaizer Chiefs. The 31-year-old Bafana Bafana international is in the country, and was spotted attending Orlando Pirates' final game against Magesi FC last month. Tau is currently a free agent following his release from Qatar SC whom he barely spent six months with. Speaking to Robert Marawa on 947 on Wednesday, Tau said while he would give Sundowns first preference, he's open to playing for any PSL club. However, whoever wants his services should be reasonable because he's also a reasonable individual. Asked about whether he would consider a move to Chiefs if Sundowns don't offer him a deal, Tau was non-hesitant. Tau was cornered into revealing the figures of how much he would accept from Chiefs if Dr Kaizer Motaung was to approach him. Percy Tau flirts with Kaizer Chiefs. Kaizer Chiefs to hijack Orlando Pirates transfer for top prospect?
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are set to make some huge changes to their respective squad for next season. Chiefs are preparing for their first season in Africa with Nasreddine Nabi, while Pirates start life without Jose Riveiro. With that, it's imperative for both Soweto giants to attack the transfer market, in order to boost their squads. In previous windows it has been a common practice to see both Pirates and Chiefs in the same market. They were believed to be chasing the likes of Oswin Appollis. Furthermore, his Polokwane City teammate Thabang Matuludi, Chippa United star Sinoxolo Kwayiba too. The two clubs are also reported to be interested in Fawaaz Basadien, who Mamelodi Sundowns are eyeing too. The next player that the two clubs were thought to be battling for is Masindi Nemtajela of Marumo Gallants. Two more players seemed to be added to the list. Rowan Human makes a return, while a new entry is Etiosa Ighodaro. Now it was recently reported by this publication that Pirates made an enquiry for Neo Rapoo. The SuperSport United youngster was a key part of the SA U20 side that won the U20 AFCON. Now according to iDiski Times, Chiefs have entered the race too. 'Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both keen to sign SuperSport United left-back Neo Rapoo ahead of the new season. His performances as he led South Africa U20 to the Africa Cup of Nations title earned him interest in Scandinavia and the Gulf but sources as Matsatsansa have confirmed Chiefs and Pirates are both seriously after the player who is seen as future senior national team left-back. With Pirates having released Paseka Mako and the retirement of Innocent Maela, their interest on the promising full-back comes as no surprise, while Chiefs are looking to remedy a position that has plagued them in the last couple of seasons.'
