Fantasy Football Video: ‘Just call me Bill' — RB1 path being forged for Jacory Croskey-Merritt following Brian Robinson Jr. trade rumors
Not only is Terry McLaurin a candidate to be traded if a contract extension isn't met, but now RB Brian Robinson Jr. is being floated in trade reports. Robinson was held out of Washington's preseason game vs. the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.
All of this is seemingly because of the emergence of the RB referred to only as "Bill."

Analyst Matt Harmon was joined by Faraz Siddiqi of Upper Hand Fantasy on the latest episode of The Yahoo Fantasy Forecast Podcast to discuss the situation in Washington's backfield.
Rookie RB Jacory "Bill" Croskey-Merritt has performed so well in camp that it has seemingly opted the offense to phase out Robinson entirely, looking to move on from the back who had 187 carries for 799 yards and four TDs last season. Those numbers aren't anything to write home about and Robinson wasn't really the reason the Commanders offense was so successful last season (it was Jayden Daniels).
With the depth at running back with JCM, Austin Ekeler and Chris Rodriguez, the Commanders apparently don't feel the need to keep Robinson. In the Week 2 preseason game, we saw Croskey-Merritt lead the backfield with 11 carries for 46 yards and a TD. Rodriguez also had six carries for 62 yards, including a 40-yard scamper that set up a TD on the team's first drive.
Siddiqi also points out that among 857 FBS running backs with 200 or more carries since 2014, Croskey-Merritt ranked in the 95th percentile after contact rate, 98th percentile missed tackle rate and 97th percentile breakaway run rate. While he didn't play much for Power Conference schools, those are impressive marks.
The hype surrounding "Bill" has Yahoo analyst Justin Boone moving the back up in his rankings.
Only time will tell whether Croskey-Merritt is able to take over the Commanders backfield this season. His ADP on Yahoo is up to 126.5 over the past seven days. We could see that meteoric rise continue as we approach peak fantasy football draft season.

Judge John Preston Bailey in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Virginia issued a temporary restraining order Wednesday, paving the way for the four players to suit up this year. , , and were all waiting on answers about whether they could play for WVU in NCAA further called for Congressional action to settle the landscape and provide clarity on eligibility rules. It also cited the impact on academic standards, alluding to the fact Robinson was deemed academically ineligible, an NCAA attorney said during a hearing. 'The NCAA and its member schools are making changes to deliver more benefits to student-athletes, but the patchwork of state laws and differing court opinions are why partnering with Congress is essential to provide stability for all college athletes.' Messi ruled out of Miami's Leagues Cup quarter-final v Tigres
Lionel Messi was ruled out of Inter Miami's Leagues Cup quarter-final against Tigres UANL on Wednesday, a day after coach Javier Mascherano revealed the Argentine superstar was still struggling with injury. Messi, who has battled a "minor" muscle injury since a Leagues Cup group match against Necaxa on August 2, had returned to Miami's lineup Saturday after a two-week absence, scoring a goal after coming on as a substitute in a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy. However the 38-year-old World Cup winner looked to be in physical discomfort during his second-half appearance, and he was not in the lineup announced before the clash in the cross-border club competition for teams from Major League Soccer and Mexico's Liga-MX. Messi's absence is a blow to Miami's hopes of regaining the Leagues Cup title they won in 2023 during the Argentine icon's fairytale first season in Major League Soccer. Mascherano predicted a stiff test against Tigres, the eight-time Mexican champions, describing them as "a team with a lot of offensive power." Miami's game with Tigres was one of four Leagues Cup quarter-finals set for Wednesday. Mexico's Toluca face Orlando City before Los Angeles Galaxy host Pachuca, while the Seattle Sounders take on Puebla at home. bb/mlm
