RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat lauds Tamil Nadu adheenams for preserving dharma, cultural values

COIMBATORE: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat praised the Adheenams of Tamil Nadu for their historical role in preserving dharma and culture, and for imbibing values in the minds of the people. He was speaking during the centenary celebrations of the RSS and Saiva spiritual leader Perur Aadheenam Seervalarseer Shanthalinga Ramasamy Adigalar, at the Thavathiru Santhalinga Adigalar Arts, Science and Tamil College in Coimbatore.
Bhagwat, along with Adheenams and other spiritual saints, participated in the Shiva Yagam. In his address, Bhagwat said, 'Hinduism is not merely a religion but a way of life. In today's volatile global climate, Hindu values provide the only path toward peace and harmony. True happiness comes from within and not from external possessions.'
Bhagwat expressed his gratitude for the simultaneous centenary celebrations of the Adheenam and the RSS. Further, he said that whenever the world forgets dharma, it is our duty to remind, and we should not translate dharma into English and call it religion. There is no equivalent term for dharma in foreign languages, but the concept of dharma holds meaning in all Indian languages, Bhagwat added.
'Our children must learn their mother tongue. If we lose our language, we lose our tradition and everything that comes with it. Some things must be preserved, and while some ideas may become outdated and need to be removed, our core values should be preserved. We must make our nations prosperous. To do that, we need to be self-reliant. An independent nation must also be a disciplined nation,' he further said.
Bhagwat, along with the Adheenams and other dignitaries, was honoured by political figures. AIADMK MLA and former minister SP Velumani, BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran, BJP leader K Annamalai, BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan were present. SP Velumani and his brother Anbarasan presented Bhagwat with a silver spear (Vel) and an idol of Lord Murugan.

Pahalgam Attack: NIA Arrests Two For Harbouring Terrorists, Opposition Questions 'Lapses in Probe'

The NIA said that some media reports about the sketches were 'speculative' and 'misleading in nature' and the agency has not reached any conclusions at this stage. New Delhi: Two months after the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians were killed, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said on Monday (June 23) that the two men who were arrested for harbouring the terrorists behind the attack 'have disclosed details about the identities of the three armed terrorists involved.' Earlier The Indian Express had reported citing sources in the NIA that the sketches of three men released by Jammu and Kashmir police released after the attack were not those behind the attack. The report was then cited by the opposition Congress questioning the Narendra Modi-led central government of major lapses in the probe as well as releasing the sketches hastily. In its statement, the NIA however said that some media reports about the sketches were 'speculative' and 'misleading in nature' and the agency has not reached any conclusions at this stage. "It is seen that some media coverage is speculative and therefore of misleading nature. Such reports circulating in sections of the media and on social media platforms are regarding the sketches and identities of the terrorists involved in the terror attack at Pahalgam," the NIA statement said. The NIA said that "as stated in the official press release dated 22 June 2025, two accused persons have been arrested in connection with the attack. During their interrogation, they have disclosed details about the identities of the three armed terrorists involved." The agency also said that it has gathered a substantial body of evidence regarding the identities of the terrorists including eyewitness accounts, video footage and technical evidence and the sketches released by the Jammu and Kashmir police. "All this evidence is being carefully analysed and NIA has not reached any conclusion at this stage." On Sunday (June 22) the NIA had announced the arrest of Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar from Batkote, Pahalgam and Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Hill Park, Pahalgam. The NIA said that the two have "disclosed the identities of three armed terrorists involved in the attack and have also confirmed that they were Pakistani nationals affiliated to the proscribed terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)." An accused who was arrested by the NIA for allegedly harbouring terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack is being produced before a court, in Jammu on Monday, June 23, 2025. Photo: PTI According to the NIA, the two had harboured the three armed terrorists in a hut in Hill Park before the attack and provided food, shelter, and logistical support to them. 'It's been two months since the Pahalgam attack, and the nation is still demanding answers' On Monday, the Congress questioned the BJP-led central government of a major lapse in the Pahalgam terror attack probe and accused it of having "hastily released sketches of three alleged terrorists." 'In fact, the sketches were reportedly based on a photo recovered from the phone of a terrorist named Junaid, who was killed on 4 December 2024 – months before the attack even occurred. This raises serious questions,' the party said. The party asked five questions including why such negligence in investigating a brutal terrorist attack, if the sketches were fake and part of a 'headline management strategy by the Modi government' and how were the sketches released without proper verification. 'Most importantly – Who were the real attackers? Where are they now? And why haven't they been brought to justice even after two months? It's been two months since the Pahalgam attack, and the nation is still demanding answers,' the Congress said. The Trinamool Congress on Monday also accused the Modi government of providing no answers 62 days after the attack in which 26 civilians were killed. 'Are these lives meaningless to you? The nation will not forget this abandonment,' said the TMC addressing the BJP on X. The Wire is now on WhatsApp. Follow our channel for sharp analysis and opinions on the latest developments.

BJP MLA Gets Showcause Notice After Vande Bharat Assault Video Goes Viral

Jhansi: The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a show-cause notice to Babina MLA Rajiv Singh Parichha following a disturbing incident aboard the New Delhi-Bhopal Vande Bharat Express, where a passenger was allegedly assaulted by individuals identified as the legislator's supporters. The incident occurred on June 19 at Jhansi railway station and has since ignited a storm of criticism after CCTV footage of the assault went viral on social media, micro-blogging sites, and other media platforms. IANS does not confirm the authenticity of the video. In response to the viral video and mounting public outrage, BJP state general secretary Govind Narayan Shukla issued a notice to Parichha, stating that the act falls under serious indiscipline and demanding a written explanation within seven days. The 18-second clip shows a group of men slapping and hitting a passenger, identified as Rajkishore, with slippers inside coach E-2 of train number 20172. The video also shows MLA Parichha standing nearby during the incident. According to reports, the altercation stemmed from a dispute over seat number 49, which Rajkishore had been allotted. Parichha, who was travelling with his wife Kamli Singh (seat No 50) and son Shreyansh Singh (seat No 51), reportedly requested Rajkishore to switch seats, so the family could sit together. When the request was declined, tensions escalated. Upon arrival at Jhansi station, a group of men allegedly linked to the MLA boarded the train and assaulted the passenger. Former Madhya Pradesh minister, Congress leader and media head Mukesh Nayak condemned the incident on Instagram, describing it as a grim reflection of "good governance". He alleged that the elderly passenger was left bleeding from the nose after the attack. While Parichha has denied involvement in the assault, claiming the passenger misbehaved and caused a nuisance, the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Jhansi confirmed that a non-cognizable report (NCR) was filed by the MLA. As of now, no formal complaint has been lodged by the victim, who reportedly disembarked in Bhopal and has expressed reluctance to pursue legal action. The incident has raised serious concerns about passenger safety aboard India's flagship high-speed trains. With the video continuing to circulate widely, the political and public fallout is far from over.

BJP Hits Back Over 'Narendra Surrender' Jibe, Shares Video Of 'Silent' Congress PMs

Last Updated: The BJP in its attack released a video featuring former Congress Prime Ministers and the silence over several instances in the past. Amid the war of words, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday attacked the Congress party over the row triggered by Rahul Gandhi's 'Narender surrender' jibe. The BJP in its attack released a video featuring former Congress Prime Ministers and the silence over several instances in the past that showed the failure of the grand old party. Releasing a video featuring Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Manmohan Singh, the BJP on X wrote, ' Congress Ka Surrender Wala Itihaas (The surrendering history of Congress)." The BJP in the video mentioned the silence of Jawaharlal Nehru in 1947 in front of Muslim League that resulted in the division of the country into India and Pakistan; in 1948 when the Nehru took the Kashmir conflict to the United Nations Security Council; in 1960 by giving water to Pakistan under Indus Water Treaty; and in 1962 during Indo-China conflict. The video further highlighted Indira Gandhi's 1971 loss of Chhamb sector to Pakistan in the Indo-Pakistan war and slammed Manmohan Singh's silence over 26/11 attack. कांग्रेस का सरेंडर वाला इतिहास… — BJP (@BJP4India) June 24, 2025 BJP Vs Congress The BJP's attack came in response to the Congress's attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after a row triggered by Rahul Gandhi's 'Narender surrender' jibe. The jibe came in the form of a social media post featuring US President Donald Trump's iconic red 'Make America Great Again' cap, with the words 'Narender Surrender' – a pointed reference to Rahul Gandhi's allegation that PM Modi agreed to a ceasefire with Pakistan following a call from Trump. Rahul Gandhi earlier when he was in Bhopal claimed that the PM Modi had succumbed to pressure from the United States. 'Trump made one gesture from there (the US), picked up the call and said 'Modiji, what are you doing? 'Narender surrender'. And Modiji said 'yes sir' and followed Trump's instructions," Gandhi said.
