She Scouted Locked Delhi Homes, Used 50 Master Keys To Rob Them, Arrested

A 23-year-old former call centre employee, who turned to burglary, has been arrested for targeting locked houses in upscale areas of southwest Delhi using 50 master keys, an official said on Tuesday.
The accused, Joynila Tongsin Anal, a native of Manipur had moved to Delhi in October 2024 and initially took up a job at a call centre while living in Munirka, he said.
She quit her job soon and allegedly began targeting locked homes in nearby localities like Kishangarh and Safdarjung Enclave, he added.
She used a bunch of keys to test on door locks and would slip into houses discreetly, decamping with valuables, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel said.
The case came to light when two separate burglary complaints were filed at Kishangarh police station and Safdarjung Enclave police station earlier this month.
A complainant alleged that a laptop, LED TV, and camera accessories were stolen from his home in Munirka while another person reported that gold and diamond earrings, a headphone, shoes, along with Rs 1,300 in cash were stolen from his residence, Goel said.
On June 14, Joynila was arrested from the Chhatarpur area. During interrogation she confessed to the burglaries and led the police to her residence where stolen items from multiple cases were recovered.
The 50 keys in her possession that she used to open locked homes without drawing attention, were also seized, the officer said.
"Her method was systematic. She scouted locked homes and used keys in her possession to silently enter. The recoveries and her confession have helped us solve at least four burglary cases," the DCP added.

Belagavi: Heated discussions marked the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) council meeting on Tuesday, as several corporators accused BCC officials — including the law officer — of indirectly helping the management of Tilakwadi Club, which is under fire for violating lease terms. Deputy commissioner (Revenue) Reshma Talikoti, informed the council that the club breached lease conditions by operating a bar, restaurant, and other commercial activities, which were not permitted. ACB finds assets worth crores in raids on state municipal officer
Jaipur: The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) carried out extensive raids at 12 locations on Tuesday in connection with a disproportionate assets case against Fateh Singh Meena, executive officer of the Paota–Pragpura municipality in Kotputli-Behror district. The ACB teams found luxury flats, high-end vehicles, farmhouses, and also recovered illegal opium from a 15-bigha farmhouse, officials said. The raids spanned Jaipur, Paota, Shahpura, Kotputli, and Thanagazi in Alwar district, and uncovered a vast network of high-value properties and assets allegedly acquired through benami channels. Officials said the searches led to the recovery of two luxury duplex flats in Trimurti Arena, Jagatpura in Jaipur, valued at around Rs 1.30 crore; 1.05 hectares of land in Deepawas in Neem Ka Thana; and about 15 bighas of land in Thanagazi in Alwar. The farmhouse in Thanagazi is estimated to be worth Rs 80 lakh. Raids were also conducted at Meena's residence in Thanagazi near Bhartrihari Tiraha, his rented house in Paota-Pragpura, and the municipal office. Properties linked to his associates, Pramod Kumar Verma in Kotputli and Kailash Gurjar in Shahpura, were also searched. The teams also found illegal opium weighing about 17gm. At a luxury flats in Jaipur, the ACB founda a luxury vehicle, Rs 2 lakh in cash, approximately 1kg of silver ornaments, and nearly 150gm of gold jewellery. According to ACB director general Dr Ravi Prakash Meharda, the action was taken after credible inputs suggested that Meena had amassed wealth over 250% than his known sources of income. Key documents related to the properties and financial transactions were seized during the operation. Officials suspect that many of the assets were acquired through proxies and hidden investments. The ACB said more information would be released after the full assessment of recovered properties and documents.

ED raids Panvel BJP leader over ‘illegal' land transfer, pocketing Rs 42 cr compensation from NHAI
'The land parcels under subject matter are 41.70 hectares and 110.60 hectares in Panvel taluka of Raigad district. J.M. Mhatre transferred 1.86 hectares of land and received Rs 42.4 crore as compensation, and the other named accused in the police FIR, Saiyyed Mohammad Abdul Hamid Qadri, transferred 0.4225 Hectares of land and received Rs 9.69 crore in compensation from NHAI,' an ED official said. Through this illegal acquisition and transfer, Janardhan Moru Mhatre allegedly obtained a compensation amount of Rs 42.4 crore from the authority responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing the national highways. Two of these premises under search are in Panvel, while the remaining one is in Dadar. New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Tuesday carried out searches at three premises linked to a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader as part of an investigation into illegal acquisition of forest land and subsequent transfers to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Maharashtra. Last month, Mhatre, who was with the Peasants and Workers Party of India (PWP), joined the BJP along with scores of supporters in Maharashtra's Raigad district. He was the former president of the Panvel Municipal Council. His son Pritam contested the last assembly polls from Uran as the PWP candidate and came a close second to BJP's Mahesh Baldi. The ED's money laundering case stems from an First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Navi Mumbai Police in September last year that booked Mhatre and Qadri under Sections 3(5) (joint liability), 318 (4) (cheating) and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The FIR was filed on the basis of a complaint from Raigarh's Range Forest Officer (RFO), who accused the duo of large-scale forgery. In his complaint to the Navi Mumbai Police, the RFO alleged that Mhatre pretended to be the rightful owner of said land parcels and handed over them to the NHAI in March 2018 and recouped a cheque of amount Rs 42.4 crore from the NHAI. On the other hand, Qadri allegedly recouped Rs 9.69 crore cheque from the NHAI for the land parcel that never belonged to him. In the same police complaint, the RFO alleged that Mhatre had on two occasions secured loans of Rs 7.75 crore and Rs 200 crore even before the land was transferred to the NHAI. The lid was blown off when the Alibag deputy conservator of forests sent a letter to NHAI's project director in January last year informing about the illegal acquisition and transfer of the compensation amount. Subsequently, the Alibag deputy conservator of forests ordered the RFO to file a police complaint against Mhatre and Qadri. Mhatre is accused of acquiring the land illegally, without prior approval from the government as required, and later using it for several purposes such as mortgaging for bank loans and finally transferring it to the NHAI.
