Daily Record14-05-2025

James 'Arg' Argent was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in Spain and has been handed a suspended prison sentence and restraining order after attacking his girlfriend Nicoline Artursson.
James 'Arg' Argent was arrested for allegedly assaulting his model girlfriend Nicoline Artursson whilst on holiday in Spain. The former TOWIE star, 37, was taken into custody by the Spanish Civil Guard in Costa del Sol on Sunday, May 5.
Eyewitnesses reported to the Mirror that they "heard an aggressive man yelling" and "throwing objects from the terrace of a nearby house". Argent confessed to "mistreating" Nicoline at the Court of Violence Against Women in Fuengirola, as per The Sun.

It also reported that the reality TV star received a suspended jail sentence and must complete a "resocialisation course in the field of gender violence."

He was also reportedly issued with a restraining order preventing him from contacting Ms Artursson, reports the Mirror.
When contacted by the Mirror today, the Guardia Civil confirmed the arrest, stating: "We can confirm Mr Argent was arrested by 'Policia Local' of Mijas for an alleged crime of domestic violence on 5th May."
"We were frightened by his shouts," an eyewitness told the Mirror. "We couldn't believe what we were seeing," they added, noting that Nicoline "appeared to be physically and emotionally devastated."
It is understood by the Mirror that Nicoline's mother arrived at the scene to support her daughter and both were transported to a hospital by police.
A source close to Argent informed said that the TOWIE star is "remorseful about what happened but is insisting he never meant any harm."
James 'Arg' Argent shot to fame as an original member of The Only Way Is Essex, gracing our screens from 2010 until his departure in 2018. Throughout his time in the limelight, the 37 year old has dabbled in a variety of reality shows such as Celebrity Super Spa, The Jump, Sugar Free Farm, and Celebs Go Dating.

Back in October 2014, TOWIE bosses were forced to halt filming with Argent after he tested positive for drugs, prompting him to seek help through rehab. Despite the turbulent times that have seen him become a frequent visitor at addiction treatment facilities, the reality star opened up in 2023 about his past struggles, saying: "I battled with [drug addiction] for a number of years. But I've got through it and I'm doing alright. I'm doing well. I'm clean, sober, and I have been for a long time now."
In addition to his TV fame, Argent is known for crooning at weddings. He took drastic action regarding his health by undergoing sleeve gastrectomy in April 2021 when his weight had soared to 27 stone.

Reflecting on his journey since having the surgery, he revealed to GB News: "I had a bad relationship with food. I would either do no exercise at all and binge eat or I would starve myself and train three times a day."
He added: "I was either morbidly obese or slim. I was constantly yo-yo ing.I now have a great relationship with food and with exercise and I have got the balance right. I am proud of what I have achieved."
Our sister paper the Mirror has reached out to representatives for James Argent to comment further on his updates.

Tragic mum, 31, 'stabbed to death by pupil' pictured for first time

A 14-year-old French schoolboy is facing 20 eyars in prison after allegedly stabbing a teaching assistant to death after she asked to search his bag for weapons. A young teaching assistant who was stabbed to death by a teenage pupil in a horror knife attack at a school in France has been pictured for the first time. Known only as Melanie G, the single mum and former hairdresser, was looking for concealed weapons alongside a police officer - in line with national education policy - at the gates of Françoise Dolto secondary school in Nogent-sur-Marne, near Paris when the horror unfolded around 8.30am on Tuesday, reports the Mirror. ‌ She had only started the job last year, giving up her career in hairdressing to spend more time with her little boy. ‌ French police say the 14-year-old schoolboy was tonight facing 20 years in prison after allegedly stabbing the 31-year-old teaching assistant to death after she asked to search his bag for knives. The incident followed a spate of school knife attacks in France, including one in April, when a teenage girl was stabbed to death and three others were wounded at a school in Nantes, in the west of the country. A source investigating the Nogent attack said: "The boy responsible was uninjured, after stabbing his victim multiple times. He was soon restrained by staff, and then arrested by the police officer present at the bag check." The source added: "One of the arresting officers suffered a slight cut to the hand." Referring to the alleged killer, the source said: "He is now in custody, and facing up to 20 years in prison if found guilty in a youth court of a deliberate killing." ‌ Local prosecutor Denis Devallois confirmed that a criminal enquiry had been launched into the killing, and that the perpetrator faced prison. The boy who cannot be named for legal reasons had been arrested twive from the school for disruptive behaviour, and was a student representative in the school's anti-bullying programme, claimed the source. ‌ Following today's killing, French President Emmanuel Macron described a "senseless wave of violence" in France. He added: "We all stand with [Melanie G.'s] family, her loved ones, her colleagues and the entire educational community. The nation is in mourning and the government is mobilised to reduce crime." Mélanie G. lived in Sarcey, around seven miles from Nogent, where she also worked as a municipal councillor. Paying tribute, her sister-in-law said: "She was funny, gentle, and very kind, and had one goal – to look after her child. She gave up hairdressing because she wanted more days off to be with him." Last month, France's Education Ministry announced that 958 bag checks in schools had resulted in the seizure of 94 knives across the country.

Madeleine McCann detectives 'sample clothes and bones found during search'

Madeleine McCann detectives 'sample clothes and bones found during search' A search was carried out by German and Portuguese detectives last week Search teams have been conducting new searches as part of an investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann (Image: PA ) Police are currently examining "clothes and bones" that were discovered during the recent search for Madeleine McCann, according to reports. Last Thursday saw the conclusion of a three-day operation by German and Portuguese detectives, who combed through a 120-acre area in Lagos, Portugal. This latest effort aimed to uncover fresh evidence against Christian Brueckner, the main suspect, took place roughly 30 miles from where Madeleine vanished in May 2007 at the age of three. Despite initial indications suggesting no new leads had emerged, it's now been reported that fragments of clothing and bones found at the site are set for analysis this week. ‌ The search, marking the first of its kind since 2023, involved intensive examination of the local terrain and derelict buildings, including an abandoned farmhouse. Don't miss a court report by signing up to our crime newsletter here . ‌ A source disclosed to Berlin Morning Post: "Several objects have apparently been discovered, which are now being examined in more detail by the police in the laboratory," reports the Mirror. "As Portuguese media report, clothing debris and bones were found, among other things. "The investigators have not officially commented on whether the finds could have anything to do with Madeleine's disappearance but that is clearly their hope." A search team close to Praia De Luz in Portugal (Image: PA Wire/PA Images ) Article continues below Christian Brueckner, currently serving a prison sentence for raping a 72 year old woman in Praia da Luz in 2005, reportedly sent a letter to the police regarding the Madeleine McCann case, stating "decisive questions can never be answered". The note, which German media have seen, suggests a series of questions that could potentially link him to the disappearance of the three year old girl. In his letter, Brueckner wrote: "It is the important questions, the decisive questions that can never be answered. ‌ "Was I or my vehicle clearly seen near the crime scene on the night of the crime? Is there DNA evidence of me at the crime scene? "Are there DNA traces of the injured party in my vehicle? Are there other traces/DNA carriers of the injured party in my possession? Photos? And, don't forget, is there a body/corpse? All no, no no." The date of the letter's composition remains unclear. Meanwhile, a new documentary has revealed unsettling findings from an old warehouse once owned by Brueckner in Neuwegersleben, Germany. Article continues below The Sun reports that during a search of the premises, police found over 70 children's swimsuits, a toddler's bike, inflatable toys, and a collection of images stored on an 80GB hard drive, allegedly taken in Portugal. They also discovered a laptop, masks, guns, and a handwritten story about drugging and abducting a woman and child from outside a preschool.

Johnny Vegas vows to 'kickstart debate' as he shares emotional insight to life

The comedy star of Benidorm and Still Open All Hours shows a whole new side as he tackles major art challenge while getting to grips with an ADHD diagnosis Johnny Vegas will be seen getting to grips with his recent ADHD diagnosis in a new Channel 4 two-parter in which he returns to his first love of art. The comedian, actor and trained potter has signed up to produce a piece of public art for his hometown of St Helens in Merseyside, and the cameras have followed him as he takes on the biggest artistic challenge of his career. ‌ A show source said: 'What starts as a creative endeavour turns into a journey of self-discovery when Johnny receives a diagnosis of ADHD. Though the original artistic vision falters, the documentary uncovers a silver lining—an honest and heartfelt conversation about mental health and understanding yourself.' ‌ Johnny, 54, told the Mirror: 'I used to sit at a potter's wheel on stage. People thought it was a gimmick, but I actually started out as a dedicated wannabe ceramicist. Art was my educational saviour. "Over years of witnessing what felt like an ongoing decline in educational commitment to the very same arts, I felt it was time I threw my hat back into the ring. To kickstart a debate about culture in general, whilst giving something of a visual symbol of gratitude back to my honestly beloved town.' He revealed that he'd been diagnosed with ADHD in 2023, saying at the time that it "answers a lot of questions about behavioural issues in the past'. He added: "In some respects, you can go back and look at it with regret, but I've had a bit of a charmed life, so it's no regrets," he said. "I know now, and it helps you make changes, I suppose, as you want to get more responsible later in life. I don't see it as defining me.' Programme-maker Adeel Amini, of Rumpus Media, said that fans would love seeing Johnny returning to his roots. 'Johnny tackles art and creativity with his trademark wit and humour, as well as a great deal of honesty and emotion, showing us a brand new side to one of Britain's best-loved figures.' C4 specialist factual boss Shaminder Nahal says: 'This series brings to life the power of art for everyone – how it can soothe, help, energise and inspire. Beautifully filmed over several years, the series showcases Johnny's unique humour, heart and passion – uncovering the intricacies and demands of artistic process along the way. It's an enlightening, eye-opening and emotional journey.' It is thought that as many as one in 20 UK adults could have the condition, but many cases are unidentified. Other celebrities who have been diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood include presenters Ant McPartlin and Richard Bacon, comedian Rory Bremner and TV presenter Sue Perkins.
