Keonjhar : Amendment to the Waqf Act will bring transparency to the Waqf Board and benefit women and girls of the minority community as well as those from economically weaker sections, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi said here on Tuesday.Participating in a public awareness programme on the Waqf (Amendment) Act, organised by BJP's district unit at the Keonjhar auditorium, Majhi said the govt is working for everyone, and no one is neglected in any field.The CM said that since the time of Mughal empire until 2013, the Waqf Board had 18.43 lakh acres of land. "But between 2013 and 2025, 20.92 lakh acres were added by the board. Not only did Hindus suffer due to this, but Muslims were also facing inequality," he said.Keonjhar MP Anant Naik, MLA Fakir Naik, district BJP president Shukdev Mahant, district BJP secretary Nilamani Mahant, former Kisan Morcha state president Shivaji Mohanty, Minority Morcha state general secretary Jalaluddin Akbar, its district president Mahtab Alam, and Keonjhar Municipality chairperson Niku Sahu, among others, attended the event.

PM to roll out Mahapurush Adarsh Gram Yojana in Odisha on June 20
The state government has set an ambitious target of constructing over five lakh houses under the scheme with an investment of Rs 7,500 crore. Majhi had launched the scheme at Bhawanipatna on March 30 and distributed 60,000 work orders in the first phase. The prime minister is scheduled to arrive in Bhubaneswar at 3 pm on June 20. He will participate in a Tiranga Yatra, to mark the success of 'Operation Sindoor', from the airport to AG Square. A roadshow of the prime minister has also been planned from AG Square to Janata Maidan where he will attend the first anniversary celebration and address a public meeting, BJP sources said. 'This will be the sixth visit of the PM to Odisha in the last one year after BJP came to power. This reflects his commitment and continued support to the state under his Purvodaya Mission'. He wants to see Odisha become the growth-engine of eastern India,' said Panchayati Raj minister Rabi Narayan Naik. Naik said the Mahapurush Adarsh Gram Yojana envisages all-round development of the villages of the illustrious persons to honour their contribution to the state. The villages will be converted into destinations for people to visit and gain inspiration, he said.

Kedarnath chopper crash: Uttarakhand government suspends helicopter services
After seven people, including the pilot, lost their lives in a chopper crash near Kedarnath, Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Helicopter services will remain suspended in the region for the next two days. "A control and command centre should be set up. Strict action will be taken against the culprits in this accident. Helicopter services will not run today or tomorrow. These services will remain closed until the safety of the passengers is ensured," Dhami told ANI on Sunday. The BJP leader also said that aviation companies have been directed to follow the rules of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, warning of strict action against the culprits of today's tragedy. Officials reveal "An emergency meeting has been called immediately, in which instructions have been given that the rules of our DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) should not be violated, and the pilots flying in the upper Himalayan areas should have experience of the region. Seven people were killed after a chopper carrying six people from Kedarnath to Guptkashi crashed near Gaurikund on Sunday early morning in Rudraprayag district. The chopper, which belonged to Aryan Aviation Aviation took off from the Kedarnath helipad at around 5.20 am but later went "missing" after authorities lost signal with it. Gujarat ex-CM Vijay Rupani's remains identified after plane crash
NEW DELHI: The DNA of former Gujarat chief minister has been matched with remains recovered from the wreckage of Air India Flight AI171, which crashed near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday. 'The DNA matching of Vijay Rupani, the former chief minister, is complete. We will coordinate with the family to take the body to Rajkot,' he told reporters. Rupani was among the 242 people on board the London-bound flight, which went down shortly after take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. His son had arrived in Ahmedabad on Saturday to provide a blood sample for the DNA identification process, which was being conducted at BJ Medical College. Rajkot observes shutdown for Rupani The city of Rajkot in Gujarat observed a half-day shutdown on Saturday to pay tribute to Rupani. Rupani, a senior BJP leader and native of Rajkot, served as Gujarat's chief minister from 2016 to 2021. He was also twice elected as MLA from the Rajkot West constituency, having started his political journey as a party worker before becoming councillor and mayor. At the time of his death, he was serving as the BJP's in-charge for Punjab. In a show of collective mourning, the Rajkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry had appealed on Friday for shops and commercial establishments to remain closed until Saturday afternoon. The call was widely honoured, with markets shut and nearly 600 private and grant-in-aid schools remaining closed during the morning hours.
