Cam Heyward Declines Interview, Makes Cryptic Instagram Post
He also mad a cryptic post on Instagram shortly after practice. The post read, 'When you take things for granted, the things you are granted get taken.'
To say the least, it appears Heyward is not happy with the Steelers right now.
Heyward is scheduled to make $14.75 million this season, with $13.45 million of that already having been earned as a roster bonus in March. Heyward is seeking a raise in a defensive market that has experienced a reset this offseason. Heyward and the Steelers have addressed this privately, but have not made any progress on any reworked deal, Schefter notes.
Heyward is currently the 22nd highest-paid interior defensive lineman in the NFL by average annual value.
The Steelers saw Heyward's career resurgence in 2024. This came after an injury-plagued 2023. Pro Football Focus recently ranked him as the third-best interior defensive lineman.
He ranked only behind Kansas City's Chris Jones and New York's Dexter Lawrence. The 15-year veteran is coming off of a remarkable turnaround from one of his best seasons last year.
Heyward, who turned 36 this past month, finished 2024 with eight sacks, 20 quarterback hits, and a career-high 11 pass deflections. This effort earned him his seventh career Pro Bowl and fourth All-Pro honors.
Despite drafting Derrick Harmon in the first-round and Keeanu Benton two years ago, Heyward doesn't see this year as a 'passing of the torch.
'I think you don't really think about passing the torch right now,' Heyward said at OTA's. 'I think it's about, 'How can we make this team the best it can be?' It's not about holding secrets or anything. It's about making sure we're all growing at a pace that, by Week 1, we're ready to kick this thing up.'
Heyward came in at No. 83 on the annual NFL Top 100 list. He was ranked No. 98 in 2024 and No. 45 in 2023.
'The old man is doing it good right now. I can't describe it,' Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen said of Heyward. 'I think it's what, Year 15 for him? It's just crazy.'

Ederson moves closer to Galatasaray
Ederson moves closer to Galatasaray Ederson Moraes, the Brazilian goalkeeper from Manchester City, has already given the green light to Galatasaray. A three-year contract is on the table, along with a massive salary: eight million euros per season. In Istanbul, fans are already dreaming of seeing him don the yellow and red jersey. But there's still one obstacle. Manchester City won't let go of their starting keeper so easily. Galatasaray's €7 million offer has been rejected. The English side are asking for nearly double that amount—€13 million. Negotiations are ongoing. With just days to go before the league campaigns resume, everything could speed up. If Galatasaray matches the asking price, this transfer could become one of the summer's most talked-about moves.

Penrith smash six but Carlisle City come unstuck in Cumbrian derby
Penrith smashed SIX goals as they ended their wait for a first win of the season in style. Jim Nichols' side thrashed Thornaby 6-0 at Frenchfield Park in Tuesday's Northern League Division One game. Penrith, after three draws and a defeat in their initial league games, hit the goal trail in their fifth outing. Connor Shields led the way with a hat-trick in the space of 11 minutes either side of half-time, the forward scoring in the 38th minute, first-half added time and then the 49th minute. Luke Brown, Luke Hunter and Connor Hammell added further goals after the break with Penrith 6-0 up by the 63rd minute mark. The game, in front of 158 fans, saw Nichols chalk up his first win in his second spell in charge of the Bonny Blues. The victory saw Penrith move up to seventh in the fledgling table. Tuesday's Cumbrian derby, meanwhile, went the way of Kendal Town as they got the better of Carlisle City. A crowd of 255 at Gillford Park saw Kendal prevail 4-1 to end City's unbeaten start to the league season. Tom Kilifin and James Bailey scored to put Kendal in control before Callum Birdsall pulled one back for Dan Kirkup's hosts before the break. Kilifin, though, struck again after the break and after City's Tom Mahone was sent off, Josh Winder's injury-time strike completed Kendal's victory. The south Cumbrians are now second in the table with City moving down to fourth. The three Cumbrian clubs are back in league and cup action this weekend. In the league, Penrith go to Boro Rangers on Saturday and Carlisle City go to leaders Whitley Bay, while Kendal are in FA Cup action when they go to Northallerton Town in the Preliminary Round.
