GTA 6: Development Costs Cross $1.5 Billion
According to Pachter, the game's development has already exceeded $1.5 billion, a staggering figure even by modern gaming standards. This includes years of research, design, technology investments, and personnel expenses. However, Pachter asserts that this cost is not only justifiable but also strategically sound.
'The game will be immensely profitable,' Pachter remarked, adding that GTA 6 is projected to bring in another $500 million annually through its online multiplayer platform, GTA Online, as per a report by Dexerto. The live-service component has already proven successful with GTA 5 and is expected to form the backbone of the game's post-launch revenue model.
Why GTA 6 Might Cost $100
The expected
GTA 6 price
of $100 may raise eyebrows among casual gamers, but analysts suggest that such a price tag could reflect the game's scope, longevity, and scale. Given that GTA 5, launched in 2013, remains a best-seller more than a decade later, fans are anticipating similar long-term value from the new installment.
Live Events
Pachter emphasized that the $100 figure, while steep, aligns with industry trends leaning toward premium-tier pricing for extensive open-world games. 'This is not a two-year game. People will play this for ten years,' he noted, as quoted in a report by Dexerto.
GTA 6: Unparalleled Anticipation
Despite the premium pricing speculation, the public's enthusiasm shows no signs of waning. The reveal trailer for GTA 6 broke YouTube records, becoming the most-viewed non-music debut in the platform's history, amassing over 100 million views within just 24 hours.
Social media channels, fan forums, and Reddit threads have been flooded with speculative content, gameplay theories, and excitement over the potential return to Vice City, the fictional Miami-inspired location many believe will serve as the game's setting.
From GTA 5 to GTA 6: A Decade of Demand
It's been over 12 years since GTA 5 first hit the market, and in that time, the title has evolved from a best-selling game to a cultural phenomenon. With over 190 million units sold worldwide, it remains one of the most lucrative entertainment products of all time, not just in gaming, but across film and music as well.
Rockstar's cautious approach in unveiling GTA 6 speaks volumes about the expectations riding on the new title. The delay has only heightened the stakes, making the GTA 6 price, whether $70, $80, or $100, almost secondary for fans eager to immerse themselves in the new world, as per a report by Dexerto.
GTA 6: Industry Reaction and Future Trends
Should the $100 pricing model become reality, industry analysts believe it could set a new standard for flagship titles, particularly those designed with extended online ecosystems and regular content updates. Titles like
Call of Duty
,
The Elder Scrolls
, and
Red Dead Redemption
may soon follow suit, offering expansive gameplay experiences that justify higher launch prices.
However, this model may also lead to further debates around accessibility, pricing transparency, and the cost-to-value ratio in the gaming community. Critics argue that even with robust online modes, triple-digit prices could alienate younger or budget-conscious gamers.
What Makes GTA 6 Different?
Beyond price and popularity, Rockstar's upcoming title is expected to bring significant innovation to the genre. Speculation suggests an expansive map, dynamic weather systems, improved AI, and dual protagonists, possibly a male-female duo, a first in the franchise's history.
Additionally, the developer's track record of combining satire with cultural commentary ensures the narrative will be as layered and provocative as the gameplay.

GTA 6 launch: All the fresh leaks about price, storyline and more
It is safe to say that GTA 6 is the most anticipated video game ever. With subreddits discussing new theories every day, and speculation rising about a potential price hike and the game's story, it is set to change the video game landscape. Furthermore, the next-generation version of GTA Online is also expected to entice players long after they have finished the main storyline. Gta 6 launches on May 26, 2026.(Rockstar Games) That said, multiple leaks regarding the pricing and storyline have recently emerged, which has prompted us to consider what the game's eventual price might be: $100, $80, or the usual $70? Also, how long will the story be, and what will it feature? Here is what reports suggest so far. GTA 6 Pricing: What Take-Two's CEO Said Considering the scope of the game and how the industry-wide trend is slowly favouring an $80 price point, many reports have suggested that the price of GTA 6 could be higher than what you would typically pay for a AAA title on consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Some have even mentioned an outrageous $100 for the base game (via Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter). While the price is still uncertain, Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has commented on potential pricing and how 'variable pricing' could come into play. Speaking to Variety, he said, 'Our goal always is to deliver more value than what we charge, so we've had variable pricing at the company forever. As you know, the approach of the industry is to launch at a premium price, sometimes with special editions, and over time, typically to reduce the price to enhance the overall size of the market. We do the very same thing. I think, probably more than most, we're highly focused on making sure that the experience is great, not just because the game itself is great, but also because consumers have paid a fair price for it.' GTA 6 Storyline: The Longest GTA Game Ever? A recent report by GamingBible suggests that GTA 6 could be split into five chapters, with the story of Jason and Lucia inspired by Bonnie and Clyde, ultimately offering around 75 hours of playtime. For reference, GTA 5 took roughly 30 to 35 hours to complete, while Red Dead Redemption 2 took about 50 hours. Many speculate this would make it Rockstar's longest storyline to date. As for the story itself, most of it is set in Leonida, Rockstar's fictional take on Florida. It will feature various locations, with Vice City as the main setting, alongside others inspired by regions in Florida, such as Leonida Keys. However, based on cues in the trailer, part of the game could also take place in Liberty City, as one of the central characters, Lucia, is described in Rockstar's lore as being from there. And, eagle-eyes fans did spot a Liberty City number plate in the game's second trailer.

Putin-Trump summit: What we know so far
US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will hold talks in Alaska next Friday in a bid to end the war in Ukraine, which was triggered by Russia's February 2022 invasion. Trump has spent his first months in office trying to broker peace -- after boasting he could end the war in 24 hours -- but multiple rounds of peace talks, phone calls and diplomatic visits have failed to yield a breakthrough. The announcement came after days of both sides indicating the two leaders would hold a summit next week. Live Events The Kremlin confirmed the summit in Alaska on Friday, calling it "quite logical." "They would like to meet with me, I'll do whatever I can to stop the killing," Trump said on Thursday, speaking of both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. At the White House Friday, Trump said "there'll be some swapping of territories to the betterment of both" Ukraine and Russia, without providing further details. Why Alaska? The meeting will be held in Alaska, which Russia sold to the United States in 1867. The western tip of the state is not far -- just across the Bering Strait -- from the easternmost part of Russia. "Alaska and the Arctic are also where our countries' economic interests intersect, and there are prospects for large-scale, mutually beneficial projects," Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said in a statement on Telegram. "But, of course, the presidents themselves will undoubtedly focus on discussing options for achieving a long-term peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis," he added. Ushakov also expressed hope that next time the two presidents would meet on Russian territory. "A corresponding invitation has already been sent to the US president," he added. The International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for Putin -- which obligates members to detain the Russian leader if he visits their country -- had been thought to narrow the potential number of venues. Putin had previously mentioned the United Arab Emirates as a possible host for the talks, while media speculated Turkey, China or India could be possible venues. Will Zelensky be involved? Zelensky has been pushing to make it a three-way summit and has frequently said meeting Putin is the only way to make progress towards peace. Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff proposed a trilateral meeting when he held talks with Putin earlier this week, but the Russian leader has appeared to rule out meeting his Ukrainian counterpart. At talks in Istanbul in June, Russian negotiators said a Putin-Zelensky meeting could only take place at the "final phase" of negotiations, once the two sides had agreed on terms for peace. Asked if Putin had to meet Zelensky as a prerequisite for their summit, Trump said on Friday: "No, he doesn't." When did they last meet? Trump and Putin last sat together in 2019 at a G20 summit meeting in Japan during Trump's first term. They have spoken by telephone several times since January. Putin previously held a summit with Trump in Helsinki in 2018. Trump raised eyebrows at the time by appearing to side with Putin over the US intelligence community's finding that Russia had interfered in the US election to support the New York tycoon. The last time Putin met a US president in the United States was during talks with Barack Obama at a UN General Assembly in 2015. Negotiating positions Despite the flurry of diplomacy and multiple rounds of peace talks, Russia and Ukraine appear no closer to agreeing on an end to the fighting. Putin has rejected calls by the United States, Ukraine and Europe for an immediate ceasefire. At talks in June, Russia demanded Ukraine pull its forces out of four regions Moscow claims to have annexed, demanded Ukraine commit to being a neutral state, shun Western military support and be excluded from joining NATO. Kyiv wants an immediate ceasefire and has said it will never recognize Russian control over its sovereign territory -- though it acknowledged securing the return of land captured by Russia would have to come through diplomacy, not on the battlefield. Kyiv is also seeking security guarantees from Western backers, including the deployment of foreign troops as peacekeepers to enforce any ceasefire.
