‘This new vitamin C serum is the only one that doesn't irritate my problem skin'
'I've been testing out this new skin-brightening vitamin C serum for months and can confirm it's a game-changer for blemish-prone skin like mine,' says our beauty editor
Skin experts agree that vitamin C is one of the best skincare ingredients you can add to your routine, proven to be effective at brightening and evening the skin, defending against future damage, and tackling other signs of ageing. Vitamin C serums and creams, though, aren't always tolerated well by all skin types, including sensitive or spot-prone complexions – both of which apply to me. However, I've been testing Medik8's brand new serum, and it's a game-changer for problem skin like mine.
Medik8 already makes a few hugely popular vitamin C serums, including the original C-Tetra (a longtime favourite with beauty editors) and C-Tetra Luxe (which has a richer texture). However, both of these are oil-based consistencies, which can block pores in blemish-prone – something I've certainly found in the past. Now Medik8 has just launched its C-Tetra Advanced serum, priced at £69, an effective formula containing 20% stabilised vitamin C in a gel-serum texture, designed to get visibly brighter skin and reduced wrinkles in just seven days.
I received a bottle of Medik8 C-Tetra Advanced a few weeks ago ahead of its launch and I've been using it almost every morning since. I was a little dubious about trying it as Medik8's existing vitamin Cs haven't been right for me, but I was so pleasantly surprised by this one; the formula is like a very light, runny cream instead of an oil, sinks into skin quickly, and layers brilliantly with my other skincare and make-up products (I currently follow it with Medik8's brilliant Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream and my favourite Ultra Violette Future Fluid SPF 50+ Superlight Mineral SKINSCREEN).
It did give a slight immediate brightening and evening out effect to my face, but it was about about a week of using it that I really started to notice a difference: my skin felt my much softer and smoother, looked generally more healthy, and my foundation looked fresher and less patchy. I didn't also get any breakouts or irritation (use it every other day at first if you're unsure).
Of course, other factors may have affected this result, but I'm thrilled to have finally found a high-performance vitamin C serum that suits my skin.
One point I'd flag is that it's not as hydrating as soon of my other favourite serums; usually I can go straight from serum to SPF in the mornings, but using this, I do need to apply a moisturiser in between. For this reason I think that this new launch is best for those with combination-to-oily skin, while anyone with dry skin should probably go for one of Medik8's other vitamin Cs (there's a handy tool on the website to help you to decide which is right for you).
C-Tetra Advanced is also quite highly fragranced (probably because vitamin C doesn't usually smell very pleasant); this isn't something I have an issue with, but if you're skin is very sensitive to scent, you may want to go for something like CeraVe Skin Renewing 10% Pure Vitamin C Serum, £29.
If you're looking for more alternatives, Facetheory Glow-C Vitamin C 20% Serum contains the same level of vitamin C (20%) but even cheaper at £23.

L'Oréal eyes Medik8 for one billion euros
French beauty giant L'Oréal is reportedly poised to acquire cosmetics brand Medik8 for one billion euros, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday. Specialising in 'anti-ageing' skincare, Medik8 would sit within L'Oréal's dermatological beauty section alongside brands like La Roche-Posay and Vichy, which saw its revenue increase by 3.5 percent in the first quarter, to 2.1 billion euros. L'Oréal acquired Australian luxury cosmetics brand Aesop in 2023, then valued at 2.5 billion dollars. The French group, which owns brands Garnier, Maybelline and L'Oréal Paris, concluded partnerships the following year with Italian luxury group Prada around the Miu Miu brand and by increasing its stake in the Swiss laboratory Galderma. Medik8's main shareholder since 2021 has been the investment fund Inflexion, which supported the British brand in the launch of a new research centre and in its development in the US, according to its website. Founded in 2009 by Briton Elliot Isaacs, Medik8 has over 300 employees and boasts a 'made in the UK' product range. This article was translated to English using an AI tool. Inside Kia's refreshed Sportage including comfy cabin, punchy new looks and driving mode young families will love

Treats will only get you so far. So when Kia said Britain's favourite SUV is better for the family than ever before, I had to put it to the test. Meet Maisie and her new bestie, Bijoux the cockapoo. Two little fluff balls, perfect for having a proper rummage around the refreshed Sportage. Here are five things you need to know. 1. It's got a 'baby and toddler mode' which smooths out acceleration and driver inputs. Makes everything less jolty. So little toddlers like Maisie stay sound asleep. Happy babies = happy parents. You know that. 2. The boot. Comfortably beats a Nissan Qashqai at 587 litres v 504. Swallows pushchairs, luggage and all the usual family debris — even a dog crate to keep Bijoux safe. Which also means no muddy paws on the seats. Bonus. Some dogs will appreciate the baby mode, too. The Sun's Motors Editor, Rob Gill test drives the Kia EV3 3. New front end. OUT go the 'boomerang' lights from today's Sportage. IN comes the 'star map' LEDs inspired by Kia's growing EV line-up. Looks punchy. More aggressive. Will help Sportage stand out from the crowd. The rear lights have also been updated, as well as some other little details to keep things fresh. 4. Cabin. Absolutely nailed it. Lots of big-car tech in here but still knobs and buttons for the things that need knobs and buttons. Comfy. Roomy. Lots of handy storage, big cup holders, even USB-C charging ports in the side of the front seats for people sat in the back. Three well-equipped trim levels, not four as before. Posher versions get Apple CarPlay satnav arrows integrated into the Head-up Display. 5. Engines. Three choices — 1.6-litre petrol mild hybrid, full hybrid or plug-in hybrid. The last two have a bit more oomph than before and the option of four-wheel drive. It's got a 'baby and toddler mode' which smooths out acceleration and driver inputs Here's some good news for caravanners and people with weekend toys. Maximum towing capacity has increased to 1,510kg. No diesel. No pure electric. If you want to go electric next, there's a Sportage-sized EV5 coming soon. 6. Sorry, I can't count. Price. No official numbers from Kia yet but I'm guessing £31k for the petrol manual when it hits showrooms in September? That would be a lot of car at a sensible price. Maisie's parents own a Kia Niro by the way. You can guess what car they want next. 5 The refreshed Sportage's cabin is spot on – packed with big-car tech but still has proper knobs and buttons where it counts Credit: Supplied

Viral 'super' serum that 'blurs wrinkles' cut to lowest ever price on Amazon
This powerhouse serum was once dubbed 'the cult beauty product of 2024.' The world of skincare is bigger than ever these days. Whether it be wrinkles, pigmentation or anti-ageing, we all have the areas we'd like to target more than others. Looking to target multiple in one go? Then enter the Olay Super Serum, the first of its kind, as it offers five different skincare benefits in just one bottle - and it's at its cheapest ever price on Amazon. The beauty brand's "miracle" serum first made waves when it debuted in the USA in 2023. After officially going available in the UK last year, it quickly earned the title as "the cult beauty product of 2024." While it's certainly popular, it can be quite pricey at £39.99 for a small 30ml bottle. Fortunately, Amazon has knocked 55 percent off the price, taking it to just £18.14, the cheapest it has ever been available to buy for. Not only is this the cheapest price we have spotted Amazon selling it for, as it's currently the lowest price on the entire high street, with Boots and Superdrug stocking it at full-price, while Ocado has it for £20. A unique addition to the skincare market, this powerhouse serum has been infused with the five ingredients - niacinamide, vitamin C, collagen peptides, vitamin E and AHA lactic acid. This means that it provides five benefits in just one bottle that include brightening, firming, toning, hydrating and much more. Considering it's the only serum on the market to do so, it's understandable why it's still hugely popular. It boasts a colour-changing soft purple iridescence, providing the skin with that 'barely-there' natural radiance. It's so popular that the brand claims that it "quickly became a viral sensation, with one bottle sold every minute." While no other option on the market offers as many benefits in one bottle, the popular L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Serum Le Duo (30ml), £37.99 at Boots, harnesses the power of two serums to target firmness, wrinkles and radiance. Meanwhile, celebrity-backed brand Medik8 has just launched its brand new C-Tetra Advanced (30ml), a brightening and anti-ageing serum that boasts vitamin C, vitamin E and hyaluronic acid for £69. Skincare enthusiasts will be all too aware of the reputation the Olay Super Serum has managed to garner over the past year, as it has earned a 4.4 rating from users who say it is a "minor miracle" and that it works "like magic". I started using it after a summer break in the sun. My skin feels hydrated and the wrinkles appear blurred. It seems to have helped reduce sun spots too." A second skincare buff wrote: "Feels great on my skin. Easily absorbed. My skin looks fresher and evenly toned. Lines appear smoother too. Will buy again." Beauty deal of the week It's almost Father's Day, and are you in need of some gift inspiration? If you don't want to buy a last minute gift, then we have you covered, as a bottle of aftershave is always a good shout and Debenhams has just cut the Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme Eau De Toilette from £92 to just £55.20 for a large 100ml bottle. There is also a smaller 60ml bottle that is a bit cheaper, with the price being reduced by 37 per cent from £68 to £43. Since reviews say it "stands out from the crowd", it's a deal worth bagging for dad. Launched in 2006, this YSL fragrance has been described as "a fragrance for the urban and charismatic 21st century male". For the guy in your life who likes to smell a little different, then this is the bottle to reach for. It opens on sparkling notes of bergamot, zesty cedarwood and Chinese ginger that has been met with the middle notes of violet leaves and basil flowers, offering a floral and spicy contrast. It is said to end on base notes of sandalwood, Virginia cedar wood and Haitian vetiver to "highlight this charismatic and magnetic fragrance." Those who want to stand out from the crowd will appreciate the YSL L'Homme Eau De Toilette, as it has earned a 4.7 rating from Debenhams fragrance buffs who have said it is "unusual" and "always gets compliments." One positive review read: "An unusual and outstanding men's perfume! What an interesting fresh yet a hint of spice men's perfume! It's different. Stands out from the crowd. Purchase the Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme Eau De Toilette (100ml) in the Debenhams sale here. Someone else praised: "What a wonderful product! Olay have [created] a minor miracle with this serum. My skin feels amazing after using this as you don't need to use too much either as so good." Not everyone found it worked for their skin, as one three-star review read: "I didn't really like this serum as I felt it left my skin feeling quite dry, not what I expected it to do." Although, another positive review read: "This stuff is like magic. It makes your skin so soft! I'm not a girly girl, I don't use tons of make up, I'm not incredibly interested in skin care - but ONE experience with this stuff and I'm never living without it. It instantly absorbs and makes you feel at your best. I've even had compliments when wearing it. Id recommend this to everyone!"
