Arsenal capitalise on Bayindir error to beat Man United
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim said his side can beat anyone in the Premier League despite beginning their season with a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.
Riccardo Calafiori scored the only goal at Old Trafford. The Italian defender pounced on a mistake by United's stand-in goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

The Red Devils had 22 shots and enjoyed over 60 percent possession.
But an expensively-assembled new £200 million ($271 million) forward line of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and substitute Benjamin Sesko failed to find a way through against the Premier League's best defence for the past two seasons.
Only four other teams scored fewer than United's 44 goals in 38 Premier League games last season as the English giants endured their worst campaign for 51 years, finishing 15th in the table.
But Amorim insisted the performance showed tangible signs of progress, even if it was not reflected in the scoreline.
'We need to win games but that was completely different to last season,' said the Portuguese coach.
'We were the better team. In the end we lose the game, but really proud of the performance.
'We proved today we can win any game in the Premier League, against a great team like Arsenal.'
– 'Big result' –
After finishing second for the past three seasons, the pressure is on Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to deliver the club's first league title since 2004.
The Spaniard was left to depend on his reliable defence and goalkeeper David Raya to secure a huge three points as the visitors never got going as in attack.
'Big result,' said Arteta. 'First game of the season at Old Trafford when you feel they are building something.'
He conceded his side will have to be much better if they are to rival Liverpool and Manchester City for the title.
'It certainly gives you momentum and confidence when you are not at your (top) standards.
'Today we weren't, to be fair. The team has to find that resilience through nine, 10 months of the season.
'We have to improve a lot of things and that will happen very soon.'
The new arrivals have lifted the mood around Old Trafford and the majority of the 75,000 fans in attendance could at least leave encouraged by the display of Amorim's men.
Cunha and Mbeumo unsettled Arsenal's normally unflappable centre-back pairing of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba early on.
United were undone by an error from Bayindir, deputising for the injured Andre Onana.
The Turkish international meekly flapped at an inswinging Declan Rice corner on 13 minutes, allowing Calafiori to head into an unguarded net.
Patrick Dorgu came closest to a United reply before half-time with a powerful effort from distance that hit the post.
Mbeumo and Cunha saw tame efforts easily saved by Raya, while the Spaniard did brilliantly to divert another Cunha shot across the goal.
Arsenal had held interest in Sesko for well over a year before instead pursuing Viktor Gyokeres as the solution at number nine.
The Swede had a quiet Premier League debut and was replaced before the hour by Kai Havertz.
Sesko made his entrance moments later, to a hero's welcome after rejecting the advances of Newcastle for the lure of the 20-time English champions.

United continued to enjoy the better of the play without finding the finish. Mbeumo's powerful header was expertly clawed out by Raya.
Arsenal held firm to keep up with Liverpool and City, who both scored four goals to win on the opening weekend of the campaign.

Isak released a statement on Tuesday after deciding not to appear at the Professional Footballers' Association awards event. Alexander Isak believes his departure from Newcastle is 'in the best interests of everyone' after breaking his silence on the saga of the Premier League transfer window amid speculation over a move to Liverpool. The Swedish international, who was the second-highest goalscorer in the Premier League last season, has not featured for the Magpies in pre-season or their opening game of the campaign, a 0-0 draw away at Aston Villa on Saturday. The Springboks' revolving No 8 door continues this weekend when Jean-Luc du Preez gets a massive opportunity to establish himself with a big performance against the Wallabies in Cape Town. Eighthman has been a position of interest for the Boks for a number of years now, with Jasper Wiese the only regular mainstay in the position since Duane Vermeulen retired after the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Numerous players have been given a run, but have been unable to shine, while injuries have also played a big part in the Boks being thin in the position this season, with Cameron Hanekom, Elrigh Louw and Juarno Augustus, who were all initially set to get a go, all unavailable. Different players So far this season four different players have worn the No 8 jersey in five games, with Du Preez wearing it against the Barbarians, Wiese wearing it in both Italian Tests, his brother Cobus Wiese donning it against Georgia and captain Siya Kolisi against the Wallabies. Due to his red card in the second Italian Test, Jasper Wiese is out banned until the second All Blacks Test in Wellington, and Kolisi's recent injury, picked up over the past weekend, could keep him completely out of that tour. So Du Preez now has a golden opportunity to impress and a strong showing against the Wallabies could possibly secure his spot in the position going into the first All Blacks Test at Eden Park early next month. Stormers eighthman Evan Roos hasn't been called into the group, and Erasmus denied that they had a crisis in the position, claiming that they have sufficient cover. 'I don't think there is a crisis at No 8. Jasper Wiese is currently banned and he will be back. Siya was excellent on the weekend, he scored a try and bossed the breakdown. But unfortunately he injured his knee,' said Erasmus. 'Kwagga came on and stole a few balls and made an impact. So, I don't think the No 8 position is where we lost the game. We're not bringing in someone new, because we believe that the guys that are here can do the job for us. 'Everybody has asked 'when is JL (Du Preez) going to get a proper chance', and it's his chance now.' Franco Mostert Going into what is turning out to be a massive must-win game against the Aussies, the Boks are also without their star loose forward Pieter-Steph du Toit, who picked up a concussion in the first match, but Erasmus is again happy with the cover they have, with Franco Mostert coming in. 'Unfortunately, Pieter-Steph also has a concussion, so having Sous (Mostert) there (is a relief). He has done it many times for us and is probably one of the guys who is the fittest in the team. He is very close to what we have in Pieter-Steph,' said Erasmus. 'We feel a guy like Sous will help us in the lineouts and, in general, when the game gets a little loose, he can help us to tidy it up.' Saturday's match at the Cape Town Stadium kicks off at 5.10pm.
