Doctor couple nabbed for khalwat in heated stand-off at home while roommates were away
The 26-year-old couple drew attention after the male doctor refused to open the door during a raid by Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) officers at around 3pm, Kosmo reported.
In a video posted on Instagram, he was seen standing with his arms akimbo and questioning why officers wanted to enter his rented home.
He eventually relented some 20 minutes later, after the officers returned with police, an imam, and local residents.
Melaka Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman confirmed the arrest, saying the pair were found alone and hiding in a house allegedly shared with two other male tenants who were not present at the time.
'The couple, who work at Melaka Hospital, were detained for further investigation and taken to the JAIM office before being released on bail,' he was quoted as saying.
The case is being investigated under Section 53 of the Melaka Syariah Offences Enactment 1991.
If convicted, they face a fine of up to RM3,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both.
Sources familiar with the case said the couple were fully clothed during the raid.

Prosecutors seek trial for PSG's Hakimi over rape charge
NANTERRE, France: French prosecutors on Friday called for Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi to face trial for the alleged rape of a woman in 2023 which the Moroccan international denies. The Nanterre prosecutor's office told AFP that they had requested that the investigating judge refer the rape charge to a criminal court. "It is now up to the investigating magistrate to make a decision within the framework of his order," the prosecutor's office told AFP in a statement. Hakimi, 26, played a major role in PSG's run to their first Champions League title, the full-back scoring the opener in the 5-0 rout of Inter Milan in the final in May. Hakimi, who helped Morocco to their historic progress to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, was charged in March, 2023 with raping a 24-year-old woman. Hakimi allegedly paid for his accuser to travel to his home on 25 Feb, 2023, in the Paris suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt while his wife and children were away on holiday. The woman went to a police station following the encounter alleging rape and was questioned by police. Although the woman refused to make a formal accusation, prosecutors decided to press charges against the player. She told police at the time that she had met Hakimi in January 2023 on Instagram. On the night in question she said she had travelled to his house in a taxi paid for by Hakimi. She told police Hakimi had started kissing her and making non-consensual sexual advances, before raping her, a police source told AFP at the time. She said she managed to break free to text a friend who came to pick her up. Contacted by AFP after Friday's development Hakimi's lawyer Fanny Colin described the call by prosecutors for a trial as "incomprehensible and senseless in light of the case's elements." "We, along with Achraf Hakimi, remain as calm as we were at the start of the proceedings. "If these requisitions were to be followed, we would obviously pursue all avenues of appeal," she continued. According to Colin, her client had "been the target of an attempted extortion." "Nothing in this case suggests an attempted extortion," Rachel-Flore Pardo, the lawyer representing the woman, said. "My client welcomes this news with immense relief," she told AFP. "We will not tolerate any smear or destabilisation campaign, as is unfortunately still too often the case for women who have the courage to report the rape of which they are victims," she added. The son of a cleaning lady and a street vendor, both Moroccans who have lived in Spain since the 1980s, Hakimi was born in Getafe, a southern suburb of Madrid. Hakimi came through the youth system at Real Madrid before joining Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2018. He went on to make 73 appearances for the German club. He moved to Inter Milan in 2020 and then on to PSG in 2021 where he has established himself as an integral part of the team. 3 men arrested for alleged same-sex, group sexual activity
MELAKA: Three men were detained yesterday by the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (Jaim) and the police, for allegedly engaging in same-sex relations and group sexual activities. State Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman said the men, aged 21, 24 and 26, were arrested at 1.30pm following a complaint accompanied by photographic and video evidence. He said the acts involved violated Islamic law and reflected a perverse lifestyle that is spreading and adapted from Western culture. "Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender culture is not only contrary to Islamic teachings, but also has an impact on public health. "Data from the Melaka Health Department shows an increase in cases of sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV, AIDS, chancroid, gonorrhea and syphilis," he said in a statement today. Rahmad said the three men were being investigated under Section 56 (sodomy), Section 57 (attempted sodomy) and Section 58 (unnatural sex) under the Syariah Offences (Melaka State) Enactment 1991.

Melaka police arrest trio for alleged same-sex activities
MELAKA: Three young men were arrested here after allegedly engaging in group same-sex activities, says Datuk Rahmad Mariman. The Melaka education, higher education, and religious affairs committee chairman said that the suspects, aged 21, 24, and 26, were detained by enforcement officers from the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) with the assistance of police cooperation at 1.30pm on Thursday (July 31). "The arrests were made following investigations supported by photographic and video evidence. "The trio's actions were documented through images and recordings of the alleged acts involving all three individuals,' he said in a statement on Friday (Aug 1). Rahmad described the act as a violation of syariah law. "Such practices are against Islamic teachings,' he said, adding that mobile phones belonging to the suspects had been confiscated and are now part of the evidence. Rahmad also cited public health concerns, with data from the Melaka Health Department showing a rise in sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, AIDS, chancroid, gonorrhoea and syphilis. 'Of the 3,185 HIV cases reported in 2024, about 2,037 or 64% were transmitted through homosexual and bisexual relations,' he said. Rahmad noted that the enforcement operation was carried out under the provisions of the Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment (Melaka) 1991.
