Is M. Night Shyamalan starting to film his RI movie? Film crews spotted in Warren June 18.
Or so says the owner of Stingy Alley, a bar on Main Street. In an Instagram post, the bar is inviting patrons to perhaps witness some Hollywood magic.
And, film crews were spotted in Warren on the morning of June 18. The first day of filming for the Shyamalan film started at the Coffee Depot in Warren at the corner of Jefferson and Main streets.
The Warren business posted a message on social media announcing they'd be closed on June 18th for "a private event."
The coffee shop has windows that look out on the street, forcing the film to bring in production cars that are used as set dressing. This also means that the town has to periodically shut down traffic.
Filming for the Shyamalan movie is expected to continue throughout the East Bay over the next several days.
"Remain" stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Phoebe Dynevor and Ashley Walters. It is expected to be release in October 2026 by Warner Bros.

Logan Lerman Was Accidentally Left Handcuffed to the Bed During 'Oh, Hi!' Filming Breaks (Exclusive)
Logan Lerman Was Accidentally Left Handcuffed to the Bed During 'Oh, Hi!' Filming Breaks (Exclusive) originally appeared on Parade. It's hard to imagine that an entire film crew could forget about the movie's lead actor, handcuffed naked to a bed, but that is what happened repeatedly on the set of Oh, Hi! In the rom-com from writer and director Sophie Brooks, Iris (Molly Gordon) and Isaac (Logan Lerman) take their first romantic vacation together to a scenic rental house in the countryside. When Isaac tells Iris, mid-bondage play, that he isn't looking for anything serious, she decides to leave him handcuffed to the bed while she tries to convince him to date her. Lerman spends much of the movie naked and handcuffed to bedposts, and those handcuffs were not fake. "You really couldn't get out of those," Brooks says, while she, Gordon and Lerman stop by Parade's in-office studio during 2025's Tribeca Festival to chat about the film. "No, I could not," Lerman confirms, adding. "I always got abandoned. People always forgot about me. Five different people had keys, and nobody unlocked me. It'd be, 'Alright. Cut. Let's do the next setup' or 'Go to lunch,' and I'd just be hanging there. "I felt so powerful," Brooks laughs. "I was like, 'I can save him.' My hero complex really came through on set." Thankfully Logan says that the handcuffs didn't hurt that much. "Not bad," he says. "It was fine." 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 Oh, Hi! which premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival before stopping at Tribeca on its way to a release on July 25, is the COVID brainchild of Brooks and Gordon, who have been friends for over ten years. "Our parents introduced us actually," Gordon remembers, "Which is such a beautiful thing that they thought we would connect. Sophie has been my guru in love, food, life, all the things. She had gone through a heartbreak, and then a couple years later, I went through heartbreak, and we just bonded over how hard it is to love and to live." During the pandemic, the pair were part of the same pod and came up with the idea for Oh, Hi! when Brooks' agent suggested she write a script that could be shot during COVID. "I wrote the first draft in a fever dream of two and a half weeks, which is very abnormal for me," Brooks shares, "But when you're alone in your childhood bedroom, things happen. Then it took us about four years to make. Five years now, since we first started." Along the way Lerman joined Gordon as a lead with Geraldine Viswanathan and John Reynolds rounding out the main cast as Iris's best friend and her boyfriend. After their Tribeca Festival premiere, Brooks, Lerman and Gordon stopped by to discuss how sex scenes can be a lot less hot behind the scenes, improvising on set and acting in viral TikToks. Related: Read Parade's full interview with Logan Lerman, Molly Gordon and Sophie Brooks below: People have compared to Stephen King's . Was that a source of inspiration for you or are the similarities accidental? SB: It wasn't accidental. It was something we talked a lot about. [The film Misery] is incredible, and [Oh, Hi!] playing with the idea of a crazy woman, but in Misery, [Annie Wilkes] actually is crazy, and Kathy Bates is a genius and remarkable in that role. We thought it would be fun to play with that trope of the crazy woman, but in a playful tongue in cheek way. MG: That movie is not equally weighted at all. You know he is being trapped, and she's being horrible to him, but there's still humor in it. We just wanted to play with tone in that way, but I think Logan deserved a bit to be tied up. I wouldn't actually do it in real life, but I think, a little bit he deserved. SB: He jumped at the chance. What was it like being handcuffed to a bed for most of the movie? Does that make acting easier or harder? LL: It makes acting a lot easier when you have nothing to do. Your options are so limited. It was more so, "How do you keep the scenes fresh when you only have one position?" I think that was more of a thing for camera and [Gordon] because [she 's] moving around and to not repeat the same setups. It was a unique experience being naked, tied to a bed for 80% of filming. I loved it. It was comfortable. It was a nice bed. Good sheets. I liked the handcuffs. Those were nice. SB: We did a little test in the last week of prep, where Logan came and tested different beds and handcuffs with our production designer and prop master. We really found the best combo. LL: It was very important to me. One of the only things I mentioned was, "What does the bed look like?" Because that's going to show us how much I can move. How much am I going to be able to sit up? What were the most fun scenes to shoot and act in? MG: Intimate scenes are usually really awkward or uncomfortable, but actually they were really fun. We felt very supported by Sophie and our intimacy coordinator, and Logan and I did some really fun improvs of bad sex talk back to each other. I's us kind like, "Go buy milk." or "I'm on a trampoline, I'm a hula dancer." And somehow that didn't make it in the film. SB: The pesto pasta scene with the main four cast so John and Geraldine were there as well. There was some really fun improv. LL: When the whole group was there, it got really silly. MG: There were a lot of giggles. Molly, there is a moment in the film where your character says that croissants from Dunkin' Donuts are better than croissants in Paris. Do you have strong feelings about Dunkin's croissants? MG: No, no, not at all. That whole sequence was improvised. On the weekend, I had flown to Venice, Italy for two days in the middle of our shoot and then I came back and we went to Dunkin that morning for coffee. SB: And you were jet-lagged. MG: I was jet-lagged and unwell. But that's the best part of working with your friends. Sophie's like, "I'm gonna give her the space to just pop off, and like 90% of what she's gonna say is gonna be insane and can never be in the movie." SB: It was a fun day to come up with really kooky things. People on set were throwing out ideas, but in the script that was written as, "Molly improvs." In the beginning of the movie Logan and Molly's car runs over a strawberry stand. How did you film that? SB: Our incredible art department built that, and it had a mechanism to collapse and then you, [Logan] really were driving. I was so thrilled when that worked. That was on our second day of shooting, so it felt like a big set piece to get right. MG: We don't have money, so we only had so many strawberries to damage. But that was really fun. I'm a really, really, really bad driver, so Sophie wanted to play with the idea that the man is the bad driver. Related: What was the most difficult scene to film? SB: The first scene we shot, which was in the water where they're swimming, because it was freezing cold. It was like 50 degrees in August. Very strange. I was worried about them turning blue. LL: I definitely turned blue and was shaking. MG: It's also very deep and Logan is trying to hold me and shaking. You peel the curtain when you think of really fun, romantic, hot scenes in movies, and it's not like that. LL: They had an apple box under the water, and I had one toe on the apple box trying to stay up. SB: And that was my first time directing in eight years. I was like, "My first time directing, and my actors are turning blue." LL: And David Cross was there saying some really funny shit. SB: There were, weirdly, a lot of moving pieces. This is a movie about a relationship falling apart. Do you find yourself more on Team Iris or Team Isaac or are they both at fault? MG: I really wanted it to be more equally weighted. What's been cool is that Logan is so on Iris' side. LL: I don't think there would be an issue if Iris was just met with the commitment and love [from Isaac that she is giving to him.] Isaac definitely kicks off the plot. He's totally in the wrong, but at the end, they both need to grow. SB: Ultimately, they both want love and are at different moments in their life where they're capable of different things. I hope people feel humanity in both of them and and empathize with both of them, because, we're all trying to figure life out and they're in a messy little moment in the film, and that's fun. Being messy is fun sometimes. Related: I love the TikToks you made in Sundance earlier this year. Molly and Logan you're in a lot of TikToks, but you don't have your own TikTok. Do you enjoy making them or do your friends force you into it? LL: I love it. I love it so much. MG: You just were in a Sabrina Carpenter one. It was very exciting. Jump scare. Logan Lerman. Since we don't have TikToks, it's fun to just pop into them. LL: I'm so bad at them. MG: No, you're good. Rachel Sennott is really good at directing TikToks, and I enjoy being her actress. LL: I can't get the beats, when you're doing a song thing. MG: It's fun when you're a little drunk. It reminds me of when we all used to turn on Photo Booth and record video. It's back to just being 13 and free. I just would never have one because I have too much social anxiety. LL: Yeah, me too. I just can't get hooked on another thing. I'm already hooked on enough social media. Logan how was it filming TikToks with Haim? LL: It was really fun. It was awesome. They're friends. It happened very last minute. MG: Did they style you in the necklace or was that your choice, because that was powerful. LL: The stylist did. It was a puka. MG: It was a BOLD puka. SB: Oh, we know what it was. Related: Molly, I loved and am bummed that "Camp Isn't Home" didn't get that Oscar nomination. Do you think you'll ever make a sequel? MG: I don't know. We'll see. I loved making it so much, and theater is just the most magical thing in the world. So if I can exist in that world again, that would be a dream. Very proud of "Camp Isn't Home." I think it could really bring the world together. Maybe [Logan] in a puka necklace doing a music video for "Camp Isn't Home" in a TikTok. In , Logan and Molly sing "Islands in the Stream." In , Geraldine and Will Ferrell sing that song. Which duo would win in a karaoke battle? MG: Obviously Will and Geraldine. LL: No. MG: You think us? LL: Are you kidding? We would destroy that. They're good and all. They're okay. That was really funny though when they did it in the movie. Very different vibe with a father and daughter. SB: Yeah, Geraldine arrived on set, and she was like, "Oh we just did this." I was like, "Great we already spent the money, and we recorded it. Cool." Do you have any plans to celebrate the movie's release? MG: We're having some screenings. We're going to be coming to theaters having Q&As. SB: And it's only in theaters. LL: I just want movies to be in theaters so bad. This was a true independent film that earned distribution, and It's going to be on a lot of screens. I just hope people come and see it, because it's important for the film industry. SB: And if the movie does really, really will both... LL: Make more? SB: Pose nude. LL: Yeah! No seriously, I will do that. MG: You'll be covered head-to-toe in puka. LL: We need to figure out the number that it needs to do at the box office, and if it hits that, I will pose nude. Is Margot Robbie Returning As Harley Quinn In The DCU? New Report Offers Possible Answers
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The superhero genre is wildly popular, which is why various studios have their own shared universe. Co-CEO James Gunn is the creative architect of the new DCU, with the first slate of projects titled Gods and Monsters. Prior to this he worked on The Suicide Squad (streaming now with a HBO Max subscription), which was actually set in the now-ended DCEU. Fans have been wondering if Margot Robbie would be returning as Harley Quinn, and a new report might have offered some much-needed answers. Throughout the years Robbie played Harley three times in live action: Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and The Suicide Squad. While James Gunn confirmed a few heroes were sticking around, fans were left wondering about Robbie. A new report from THR's Heat Vision newsletter claimed that: Harley Quinn, theoretically but probably not, could still be played by James Gunn's The Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie. Obviously this is not a confirmation from the studio, and we might want to take it with a grain of salt. But since Gunn has never given any indication that he plans on collaborating again with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in the future, it's not looking great. Back in January of 2024, Gunn confirmed there were not plans to bring back Margot Robbie's Harley just yet. And while he expressed interest in working with her again, it's possible that her tenure as the beloved DC antihero has come to an end. HBO Max: Plans start from $9.99 a monthHBO Max is the streaming home for all things DC. Pay $9.99 a month for its With Ads plan, with three tiers available for an HBO Max subscription. You can also prepay for a year and save up to 20%.View Deal The same report claimed that Weapons director Zach Creggers working on a possible upcoming DC movie called Henchmen. It would focus on the lower level criminals who work for Gotham's villains, but would also feature Joker and Harley Quinn. It remains to be seen if this project comes together, and who would play the latter character. Personally, I wish that Margot Robbie would continue playing Harley Quinn in the DC Universe. She crushed the role under three different directors and three very different projects. And whoever possibly replaces her in the burgeoning shared universe is going to have some very big shoes to fill. So why not bring the Barbie star back for future projects as Ms. Quinzel? Perhaps James Gunn's plans for the character include a full reboot, with her once again serving as Joker's girlfriend and assistant. This would be a major step backward from the character development we saw from Robbie's version throughout the DCEU. I'm just spitballing here, but there are plenty of reasons why the Oscar nominee not might reprise her signature role. For now we'll just have to wait for some official word from James Gunn, Robbie, or the studio. The next DC movie expected to hit theaters is Supergirl on June 26th of next year as part of the 2026 movie release list.
