Former Chhattisgarh CM Baghel requested the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government to come up with some solutions to prevent road accidents, along with providing ex gratia to the families of the victims.
Expressing his condolences, Bhupesh Baghel said that a total 23 people have died in various road accidents.
"I have got information that, including yesterday and today, total 23 people have died in various road accidents. I express my condolences. I request govt to take these road accident cases seriously. Along with providing ex-gratia, they should come up with some solutions to prevent such road accidents from happening further," he said.
At least 13 people lost their lives and 12 others were injured after a truck collided with a trailer near Saragaon on Raipur-Balodabazar Road in Chhattisgarh on Sunday.

People were immediately rushed to Dr B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Raipur.
Last month, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways plans to launch a Safety assessment rating for trucks and commercial vehicles along the lines of the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP), the country's own four-wheel star rating system.
"The idea is to encourage manufacturers to improve the production quality, making vehicles safer. Similarly, the government is already working on standards and a safety assessment system for battery-operated e-rickshaws in the country, as they suffer from safety issues. The safety improvement in e-rickshaws will improve their quality and generate more employment," said Nitin Gadkari.

Opposition stages walkout from Rajya Sabha over Bihar's SIR issue
New Delhi, Aug 18 (UNI) The Opposition staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha today, boycotting the proceedings over their demand for a debate on the ongoing revision of the electoral rolls in Bihar. The government criticized the Opposition, calling their move as 'irresponsible' as 69 hours of time have already been wasted in this session due to such disruptions. The House proceedings had resumed at 2 pm after being adjourned during Zero Hour amid the uproar. But Opposition members refused to give in, as they stood up from their seats and created a noisy disturbance in the House. Dr Sasmit Patra, who was in the chair, briefly introduced the objectives of the Indian Ports Bill, 2025, which was presented by Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal. The Bill was introduced amid the chaos. The chair called upon AIADMK member Thiruchi Siva to present his amendment to the bill, but he began referring to the SSR instead. The Chair did not allow this. At the same time, Opposition members raised a point of order. Dr Patra allowed opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge to speak on behalf of the opposition, but when he attempted to say something about the Election Commission, ruling party members objected strongly. The chair ruled that no comments unrelated to the subject under discussion would be recorded. Leader of the House Jagat Prakash Nadda criticized the Opposition attitude, calling it irresponsible and a waste of the House's time. Meanwhile, Congress and other opposition members walked out of the House. The Union Minister said at the start of the session, on July 21, the government had expressed willingness to discuss the topic according to the rules. The Chair has repeatedly ruled that the subject raised by the opposition cannot be discussed under the rules. He said, 'Despite this, the opposition's disruptions have wasted 69 hours of the House's time so far. The opposition's behavior is irresponsible. They have no interest in discussion; they believe in chaos. I condemn their behaviour.' Nadda further said, 'We have arranged discussions on every topic as per the rules. We had a discussion on Operation Sindoor, in which they were defeated. They have started opposing the country while opposing the party.' Before the proceedings began, Dr Patra calmed the members and informed them that the Business Advisory Committee had allocated three hours and one hour respectively for the discussion and passage of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Amendment Bill. BJP MP recalls Cong ‘vote-theft' of 2003 assembly elections
Bhopal: On a day when the Election Commission of India (ECI) rejected as baseless the 'vote-theft' allegations of Lok Sabha LOP Rahul Gandhi , BJP MP from Rewa, Janardhan Mishra, opened the Congress' skeleton of voting irregularities pertaining to the 2003 assembly elections. Addressing a BJP workers' meeting in Mauganj, Mishra related the incident in which a single-room house in the Mangawan assembly seat had more than 1,100 registered voters. "The biggest example of vote-theft in the country is Rewa," Mishra said. "Here, it was exposed how one house had 1,100 voters registered and the Congress was in power. BJP revealed the fake voters and ran a campaign, after which the Congress govt was routed and BJP came to power," he recalled. The incident occurred during the Digvijaya Singh versus Uma Bharti 2003 assembly elections when more than 1,100 voters were registered in the single-room house in the Mangawan assembly seat, which was at the time represented by former Speaker and Congress' candidate Shriniwas Tiwari, popularly known at the time as the 'White Tiger of Rewa'. The BJP's campaign against Shriniwas Tiwari left him defeated by 26,930 votes against the saffron party's candidate Girish Gautam. Mangawan is one of the eight assembly seats of the Rewa Lok Sabha constituency. State Congress president Jitu Patwari, however, interpreted Janardhan Mishra's remarks in a different manner. Speaking to reporters, Jitu Patwari argued, "I want to ask the EC that BJP MP Janardhan Mishra openly said that he himself verified 1,000-1,000 fake votes by going to every house. I have also tweeted the video of this. Similarly, BJP minister Anurag Thakur has publicly spoken about the increase in votes in Rae Bareli. Both these facts prove that the BJP itself is admitting the irregularities in the election process." He further said that whatever claims of vote-theft were made by Rahul Gandhi have been repeated by BJP leaders, and the EC is also making the same arguments. "It is clear from this that this is not a political issue but a question of protecting democracy and the Constitution," Patwari said. "Efforts are being made to scare and intimidate Rahul Gandhi. He raised the questions for which the EC is asking for affidavits from Congress leaders, whereas it should itself give an affidavit before the people to ensure that this time there will be no vote theft. " Patwari said that the Congress party will hold a massive agitation and demonstration in the entire state from Aug 25 to Sept 5 on the issue of vote-theft.
