The temperatures over the weekend hovered around seasonal values and will continue into the first full week of the month. More showers and thunderstorms are likely throughout southern Alberta for the start of the week. That risk of rain will increase in south-central Alberta, including in Calgary, for the end of the week with more widespread rain expected on Friday. Highway 40 remains closed on Heritage Day southwest of Calgary after a mudslide covered the roadway midway between Kananaskis Village and Longview. Article content The mudslide occurred in Kananaskis Country between the Mount Lipsett and Mist Creek day-use areas on the evening of Aug. 2. Article content Article content RCMP spokesman Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said Mounties were informed on Sunday about the mudslide by Kananaskis Emergency Services. Article content He said RCMP were told a mudslide almost 20 metres wide came down in the area and Volker Stevin was on site clearing the debris.
