Liverpool in talks with Crystal Palace over move for Marc Guehi
Liverpool have also seen a £110million bid rejected in recent weeks for unsettled Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, but defensive reinforcements appear to be the current priority.

PA understands the Anfield outfit are in discussions with Palace over a deal for England international Guehi.
The 25-year-old captained the Eagles to victory against Liverpool in Sunday's Community Shield at Wembley and is out of contract next summer.
Guehi starred in England's run to the Euro 2024 final and will want regular game time ahead of next summer's World Cup.
Liverpool are hopeful that the former Chelsea defender wants to join them but sources have denied reports that personal terms have been agreed.
PA understands Liverpool are also interested in 18-year-old defender Leoni from Parma and are in talks with the Serie A side.
The Italy Under-19 international spent time with Padova and Sampdoria before moving to Emilia-Romagna last year.

Chelsea will be expected to progress through the group stage with eight automatic qualifiers from the group of 36. Teams finishing from ninth to 24th enter a play-off around to reach the last 16. Last season, Liverpool topped the standings after their eight matches, while Arsenal were third, Aston Villa were eighth and Manchester City were 22nd. Blues fans did not take kindly to being tipped to not follow in the footsteps of those teams. "This clown is deliberately discrediting @ChelseaFC to gain relevance," one supporter said. "Without Chelsea in everything he says, he's as dumb as his face looks.". "Carragher has been crying about Chelsea ever since Zola embarrassed him on national television," said another. A further user added: "At this point Carragher is using Chelsea to boost his numbers" "That guy is just an attention seeker," said a social media user. "Forget him. His comment about Chelsea, whether good or bad don't matter to me." It's not the first time that Carragher has prompted Chelsea ire ahead of the new season. "When I look at Chelsea, I think about what you did in the Club World Cup – everyone wanted to win it,' he told The Overlap Fan Debate. " Real Madrid really wanted to win, PSG did, and so did Manchester City, all those that we class as the best teams. So I do think it's a big thing and it will help build a connection between Enzo Maresca and the supporters, which wasn't really there last season. "I'm not sure it'll push Chelsea any closer to the title though. When Chelsea do business, over the last couple of years, it feels like a lot of players are changing without anyone really lifting the level. I know Cole Palmer has been amazing, but all your wingers feel the same. "A perfect example is [Jamie] Gittens coming in and Madueke leaving – there is no elevation, and I see that with a lot of positions at Chelsea."

Newcastle agree fee with Aston Villa for winger Jacob Ramsey
Newcastle have agreed a fee for Aston Villa winger Jacob Ramsey. The 24-year-old is due to travel to the north east for a medical after a deal in the region of £40million was agreed, the PA news agency understands. The prospective sale of Ramsey, who has made 167 appearances at Villa Park, will represent pure profit for Villa, who are walking a UEFA financial fair play and PSR tightrope and need to sell. If the medical goes without problem and personal terms are agreed in the next 24 hours, Ramsey could be a Newcastle player by the time they visit Villa Park for Saturday lunchtime's Premier League opener. Villa boss Unai Emery is not expected to see much, if any, of the financial proceeds as the club's spending is under the close eye of UEFA after they were fined £9.5m for breaching regulations. They are keen on re-signing Paris St Germain midfielder Marco Asensio, who spent the second half of last season on loan. Ramsey's arrival at St James' Park will boost spirits after a difficult transfer window for Eddie Howe's side. They have signed Anthony Elanga and Malick Thiaw, with Aaron Ramsdale arriving on loan, but missed out on Benjamin Sesko, who chose to join Manchester United instead. The future of Alexander Isak also remains unclear following the Sweden international's desire to join Liverpool.

Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou has described Lennon Miller's transfer to Udinese as a 'fantastic deal' for the Steelmen and Scottish football. The teenage midfielder completed his move to the Serie A side on Tuesday as he joins the likes of Lewis Ferguson, Scott McTominay, and Billy Gilmour in Italy's top flight. While Askou doesn't expect the fee to be 'splashed' on his squad right away, he insists it will help the Fir Park club produce the next generation of top talent. 'Obviously for Motherwell in the future, it will benefit us, and it is a fantastic deal for Lennon himself, and also for Scottish football to send one of the most promising into a very good and competitive league. '(The transfer fee) is not going to be splashed. It's going to benefit Motherwell FC a little bit in the short term, but in general over the long term, so we will be able to produce the next Lennon Miller in the future, be even more competitive, and keep progressing as a club.'
