Car set on fire in Montreal's west end
An investigation is underway after a vehicle was set on fire in Montreal's Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough early Monday morning.
Montreal police (SPVM) received several 911 calls at 3:40 a.m. about the flames on Doherty Avenue near Chester Avenue.
'When police arrived on site, they located a vehicle on fire,' said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson with Montreal police. 'The vehicle is a total loss.'
She notes that there was no damage to the nearby property.
'Certain elements lead us to believe it was criminal in nature,' said Chèvrefils.
No arrests have been made, and the vehicle was towed for expert examination.
