Disney Plus launches Perks program — here's the discounts you can get
Like any streaming service, Disney wants to keep you subscribed to Disney Plus for the long haul. The media giant has a new tactic to keep you paying, launching in the United States today (May 30) in Disney Plus Perks.
According to a new Perks webpage, the loyalty program is included for subscribers: "It's our way of saying thanks!"
To start, it looks like discounts, sweepstakes and other "rewards" will be available, with Disney promising that "perks can drop anytime."
At launch, there are 12 perks that subscribers can take advantage of:
Hulu is also launching a "Perks" program, which is pitched as complementing the offerings on Disney Plus.
There aren't as many benefits for Hulu so far.
Disney notes that you don't need to purchase anything (beyond your subscription) to enter sweepstakes like movie tickets or items.
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
In total, if you have both Disney Plus and Hulu, that's 15 benefits with the promise of more to come.
The kinds of benefits seem random at first glance, but it is interesting to see a streamer try to retain subscribers with a loyalty program. It'll be interesting to see if similar offerings come out from rival streamers.
Netflix, for example, has been offering mobile games in its app.
That said, on social media, some people are not enthusiastic about the perks, with most asking for grandfathered-in pricing or lower prices in general. "Nope. I don't want perks. Just lower pricing," said one comment.

Why Alexis Bledel Had to Pull Out of Emmys Consideration for 'The Handmaid's Tale' Season 6
Alexis Bledel made a surprise return as Emily in the series finale of The Handmaid's Tale, but she won't be eligible for an Emmy Award for her guest appearance. According to Variety, she was submitted to be considered for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series but had to be removed from the category due to a change in Emmys rules. The update states that actors who were previously nominated in the lead or supporting acting categories for a show are disqualified from being nominated in the guest star category for that same show. The Television Academy informed Bledel's team that, due to this change, she would be moved to the supporting actress pool, but Bledel instead opted to withdraw from consideration, Variety reports. Bledel already won the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Handmaid's in 2017. She was then nominated for supporting actress in 2018, and then as guest actress again in 2020 and 2021. While her name won't be appearing on the ballot, The Handmaid's Tale still has 35 submissions for awards this year, according to Variety. Bledel, who parted ways with the Hulu series in season 5, makes a cameo in the show's final episode, which aired on May 27. 'It was an immediate yes,' she told The Hollywood Reporter of making her return. 'It felt right to bring closure to Emily's journey and offer the audience a sense of completion. Bruce put together such a kind and talented group, and so many of the original crew were still there in season six. The production runs like a well-oiled machine—everyone brings their best. I'm excited to see what they create in [sequel series] The Testaments.'

Meghan Markle shares rare glimpse of daughter Lili's face in birthday photo
Princess Lilibet, the youngest child of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is 4! Lilibet, who goes by Lili, was born June 4, 2021, at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California, making her the first senior royal baby born in the United States and the first of the late Queen Elizabeth II's great-grandchildren to be born outside of the United Kingdom. Meghan marked her daughter's fourth birthday by sharing several photos on Instagram, including a current photo showing a rare glimpse of Lili's face and a throwback photo from Lili's birth. "Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!" Meghan captioned the photos. In a second post, Meghan shared two photos of Harry and Lili together, writing of their father-daughter relationship, "The sweetest bond to watch unfold 💕Daddy's little girl and favorite adventurer. Happy birthday Lili!" In addition to Lili, Harry and Meghan are also the parents of a son, Archie, who turned 6 in May. The family of four lives in Montecito, California, where they moved in 2020 after Harry and Meghan stepped away from their senior royal roles and left the United Kingdom. Meghan has shared details of the family's life in California on her Netflix show "With Love, Meghan," which premiered in March. "Lili and I actually made this batch [of preserves] together," she tells friends in one of the show's episodes, adding that Lili feels "proud" helping her. "She picked all those berries with me, and then she's like, 'No, no, Mama, I'll do it.' And she wants to try. She's like, 'I'll stir it. I'll mash it.'" Lili was also featured earlier this year alongside Meghan in a promotional photo for Meghan's lifestyle brand, As Ever. Last year, Harry told ABC News' Will Reeve that both Lili and Archie were doing "great" and "growing up very, very fast." "They both have got an incredible sense of humor and make us laugh and keep us grounded every single day, like most kids do," he said at the time. "I'm just very grateful to be a dad."

Cool Behind the Scenes Featurette for PREDATOR: KILLER OF KILLERS and New Poster Art — GeekTyrant
Hulu has released a new featurette for director Dan Trachtenberg's animated Predator anthology series Predator: Killer of Killers , and it offers a cool and exciting behind-the-scenes look at the making of the badass-looking project. I also included three posters. Each one represent one of the episodes of the three-part anthology that puts the focus in Yautja warriors hunting human prey across world history. It's also confirmed in the video that all three of these stories will connect with each other. The director also explains that the animation style of the anthology was inspired by the concept art that he was seeing for the live action films, and he wanted to see that style brought to life. Here's the synopsis: 'The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. 'But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent – the ultimate killer of killers.' The voice cast includes Lindsay LaVanchy, Louis Ozawa, Rick Gonzalez, and Michael Biehn. Trachtenberg co-directed this project alongside Josh Wassung while on location for Predator: Badlands . He said: 'We were writing the script for [ Killer of Killers ] while we were prevising stuff on [ Badlands ], and then [once on location] in New Zealand, on the way to shoot [ Badlands ], we would remote with everyone back here and [watch footage] thanks to Starlink.' It's set to premiere as a Hulu exclusive on June 6th, 2025.
